PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025
I went to the training yesterday and I'm sorry i can't give any better reports than whats already been posted as I struggled to actually identify who was who, especially if they didn't have a number on their back - I'm old and the eyesight is not what it used to be! The boys started a bit early than what was advertised, maybe because of the heat. I got there at 0915 and they were already out. It was a stifling hot day and they trained for a solid 2 1/2 hours. It didn't matter if a player was fully fit or in some sort of rehab, they trained for the entire time, whether it was on a bike or running laps, or the main groups. Of all the players there, I REALLY enjoyed watching Mentha. Yes, he made a couple of mistakes but he was silky smooth and ran hard ALL day, despite the heat. If we were to lose Kossi, he would slip straight in. At the autograph session I told him how much I enjoyed watching him train - he was stoked and shook my hand. A delightful young man who I hope gets his chance. After training the boys were knackered, as were most of us in the crowd from just watching them in the heat. It had been advertised on the MFC website that after training the boys would do a signing session. After training an announcement came over the PA for us to line up on the fence at the grounds main entrance, so we all did. EVERY player, despite being exhausted from training, were given pens and signed anything that was put in front of them. They took photos with fans and had a chat as well. I'm sure all they wanted to do was get in the shower or ice bath, but they took the time to look after the fans - they were simply awesome. VERY proud to be a long time member of the MFC.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
The team is tired and desperately needs the bye to freshen up. As we played in the GF we (and the nose beers bulldogs) played the latest game into 2021 and had less of a break before 2022 season started. Logic would say we should have been in the group of teams that had the first bye, but why would the AFL use common sense and do that?

I'm sure there are numerous Dee's fans like myself, who were exceptionally disappointed that there were no CUB 2021 Melbourne Premiership Beer cans made and that Furphy only did a very limited run of theirs. Howler Brewing in Lang Lang (Vic) produced a Melbourne Premiers beer which sold out pretty quickly. They have done a new run of their Premiership Beer Cans (Pale Ale) @ $110 a slab with free pickup from the brewery or $20 postage. Melbourne FC Premiership Beer — Howler Brewing Company

I get it! I already have a Melbourne number plate on my car But NOT a Melbourne Premiership Number plate. I am not in any way shape or form cashed up, but I may never get another chance to get Melbourne Premiership stuff! Though I am hoping for a 4peat! LOL

OK, I have to stop buying stuff! I'm, $3500 deep into memorabilia (don't judge me)! WTF if/when we go 'back to back' or a 3peat or 4 peat!!!!

Vale John Lord
Lordy was my U/15 football coach at East Malvern Football club back in the late 70's. An absolute gentleman. As a Melbourne mad person it was awesome having him as the coach. RIP John.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
Fritsch out (rested so hand fully recovers) - Ben Brown in. Let's get Bailey 100% right - after being at the game and watching the replay 4 times since, he is tentative with what he does with the broken hand (and rightfully so), so lets give him a rest and see how Benny goes.

Geez I'm loving the salty comments from my Filth supporting 'mates'. They are coming up with the flimsiest excuses left, right and centre for their flogging, including the classic 'it's not a real season'! LOL I particularly love when they have a crack about having injuries, only played out VFL team etc and I simply reply, "Why did you tip them to win them?" SILENCE!!! HAHahaaaaaa Enjoy the week Melbourne Legends - we've earned it!- Goodwin shows some emotion...finally
