WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS
Straight Sets Simon replied to timmyo64's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope your eyesight is as good as your English. -
My guess is the location is favourable for Roos and he can get back to his Fitzroy roots.
-
Very surprised if Roos isn't going to Brisbane.

The media were never going to talk about it, especially now with the Essendon thing raging on today.

Anything interesting on Open Mike?

Should have been classified high impact, not medium. The man had his nose broken! -
Frankston v Casey Scorpions
Straight Sets Simon replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
A team where half the players are full-time professionals is struggling against a team of part-timers. Embarrassing. -
I only saw bits and pieces on my phone, but I saw one passage in the last quarter where Trengove literally just waited for his opponent to get the ball so he could tackle him instead of going for the ball himself.

Can poor kicks ever improve?
Straight Sets Simon replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
The other factor that we need to remember is who the players are kicking to. Melbourne players don't run hard enough so they are seldom in space, meaning the player with the ball is often kicking to a teammate already under pressure.- 77 replies

A lot of the points I was going to make have been mentioned but playing within limitations is very important. For example, Tom McDonald should never be allowed to kick across the face of goal.- 77 replies

That's correct. Our work with Casey is one thing we have done right.

Chris Connolly 2 year contract
Straight Sets Simon replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks, but he said at one point that the only evidence they had was the comments made by Connolly. -

I can't find the quote as it may have been in a radio interview but I'm almost 100% positive he said this, or words to that effect. -

Gillon McLachlan made it clear (I can't find the quote but I distinctly remember hearing it) that the only evidence the AFL had against Melbourne were the comments made by Connolly. As rubbish as the decision was, it still stands that if he wasn't stupid enough to say it Melbourne wouldn't have been punished. -
GWS won't let Boyd slip through.

He was OK until he had to use the ball and he's still fat.

I was told recently by "good source" that according to Brett Ratten working at Hawthorn is vastly different to working at Carlton. At Carlton he was constantly looking over his shoulder, people were unhappy and insecure. At Hawthorn people are given long-service awards/recognition (common is most businesses) but Ratten had never even heard of this! A winning team is a happy team, but you can't have one without the other. -
Can they not be traded under that contract?
-
I agree.

Why does Melbourne keeping taking risks with first round draft picks? We went for icing when most of us were crying out for a cake.

Craig just ruined any chance of coaching next year. He lost the game on Thursday night with his uninspiring team selection.
