  1. Gee C&B love the way typinig on the keyboard shows off your guns ......haha.....everybody is a tough guy behind a keyboard...
  2. You do let your ongoing pathological hatred of Cam Schwab get in the way of some of your posts WYL, what did he do, run over your cat? I suggest you need to talk to somebody about it, it's unhealthy How many conversations have you had with both Trengove and Grimes to form the above opinion? ? Input into matches needs an injury free run (including pre season) to help with conistency, have Trengove and Grimes had that this season? As for on field leadership, most teams have on field leaders who are not necessarily captains, (you need to ask yourself why James Kelly at Geelong has never been a captain), some become captains later as the off field catches up with the on field, Nate Jones by his own admission, I know I have spoken to him about it, wasn't ready for an off field leadership role until the last year or so, he still leads by example on the field though
  3. Buzz words are there to cover inadequacy, so no thanks Personal insults I think, not sure due to the rather haphazard syntax, try answering what I posted, no probably not
  4. It's only nuff said if you need buzz words to give directions in life, I prefer to think for myself What I do find interesting is nobody seems to be able to tell me whether Brisbane had a culture or not?
  5. It is a buzz word, like most of the thinking in the modern world, thought up by some post graduate student for his humanities thesis who has never done a day's work in their life coz they are not capable of it They are just winning teams, they are in their cycle, I never hear anyone mention Brisbane's culture, coz it wasn't a buzz word then, they didn't have one, just bloody good players and a great coach, my point We are supposed to have a culture here in my place of employment, nothing has changed, the only reason the work gets done is because of the lower level workers, and thankfully we have an older demongraphic, middle and senior management spends most days talking about going forward and head counts.....inertia as an art form I hear people say a culture takes a while to put in place and in the same breath they say, but in footy things can turn around quickly....which one is it?
  6. Yes I am serious, sorry to actually drag you to the present WYL, I know you like wallowing in the past, you can have your opinion and I am entitled to mine, if you don't like it....what a shame
  7. I'll answer one by one. Culture is a buzz word, like synergy, one team etc etc..........it is a catch all.......we have it in work now, the modern workplace needs it, coz the standard of a fair days work for a fair days pay vanished years ago......so it has reared it's ugly little head in the footy 'industry' as well Because they are successful, nobody mentioned the Geelong or Sydney culture in the 90's surely it was there then wasn't it? Roos is not lauded by me, I regard him as overrated, he won one flag, Leigh Mathews, now him I laud Port's turnaround is because of what I wrote in my post.......check it out See the first point If Bailey or Neeld had come in and we had won 13 or 14 games and got in or got close to finals, nobody would be mentioning the lack of culture, but due to many circumstances, injury, drafting failures, illness, death, forced retirement and other issues and mistakes it didn't happen.......nothing to do with culture
  8. Every club has professional standards, all this culture rubbish continues to astound me Here is a premise for you, a new coach arrives, the majority of his squad gets through pre season training unscathed, his team for the first round contains 15 players with 70 games or more of experience, the kid they drafted with their first pick is able to settle into an established midfield, the draw the team has pits them against teams who finished in the bottom five the previous season, the team starts the season with five wins and a very close loss, the media suddenly hail the new coach who has created a new winning culture.......the team goes through the season and makes finals but goes out in the elimination final, but coach, team, supporters, sponsors with confidence growing look forward to the new season.......that's how it happens
  9. C&B, assume you picked this up and listened to the commentary. I am in no way defending Jack Watts as I thought he was below par yesterday, but a couple of points....on the second one, he was running back with the flight and palmed it backwards to Terlich, Terlich probably being afraid of taking the Freo player's legs out or being caught holding the ball did not dive at the ball, Hill reacted quicker and passed off to Ballantyne, so perhaps not wholly Watts' problem As for the first one, HIll had two players tracking him apart form Watts, who both missed him, what would your reaction be if Watts had also gone to Hill and left the man inside who got the ball back, Jordie Mc was supposed to be marking him but got blocked, Matt Jones was coming across and Trengove from the other side so 4 Melb players let Hill score All too easy to sit in the commentary box or behind a keyboard and pass judgement
  10. Why are you quoting my supposed thoughts, hoping nobody noticed you are trying to squirm out of the corner you painted yourself into I do not live in the past by the way, what mentality, Old Boys Club.........you another one of the latent paranoicas are you, or just a reader of the Socialist news..............................Glen Bartlett in his speech said exactly what everybody, including the posters on this board, wanted to hear, you notice about half way through, he said it is not that bad, as if to correct himself, not believing some of the negativity he was portraying.........I for one will wait to see action....heard too many words in the past................
  11. LDC you are on Demonland remember, posters will post anything, facts only get in the way
  12. Before yoo go bleating all over me, my understanding was that Bartlett is a Foundation Hero, so therefore he does have some feelings for the Club. so hence my comment, and the ridiculousness of the posters comment, and you also need to believe in something to be a Footy Club president 21st century or not......you still have to 'sell' the Club to others....so keep your snide remarks to yourself if don;'t fully comprehend what I have written......and as for your comparison, I could name at least 3 Premier Leagues teams where the chairmen are life long supporters of the Club
  13. So you want somebody who supposedly has no feelings for MFC being the President?Ridiculous comment And some of Don's crew as you so eloquently put it, are still there
  14. Good to see Joel Mac being recognised for what he was, a player who gave everything he had every time he played........12 players have tweeted, so shows respect in change room
  15. So you want a veteran who can't get a game in a young up and down side, and a guy who will never leave the Dogs, and for Xmas you would like? I got this rumour from somewhere else rather than Facebook When there is a news conference I will believe who we have appointed as coach
  16. If you go in Gate 3 there should be plenty of GA seats from pocket round to wing on bottom level, where we sit
  17. Everybody is a tough guy sitting behind a keyboard, taking potshots without knowing the full facts
  18. Reading this topic makes me realise why I take breaks from the board now and again, hairshirts, paranoia, whoa is me..........we have had innumberable posts on this board whingeing and whining about how MFC always stuffs up Casey when Casey gets to finals.... on this occasion the Club seems to be putting Casey first....question how many successful appeals have there been this season?......obviously they think it will be more benefiical for Clisby to have a break, freshen up, and ply his trade in a finals campaign for Casey than run the risk of getting another week and having his season end prematurely......good thinking I would have thought.....along the same lines of giving Jesse Hogan the week off to do the same so he can 'attack' the last couple of games and the finals..........ongoing development of Clisby despite the hiccup, assume he will excel in the finals after playing in the AFL.......and lead the way
  19. You need to go on Twitter and tell Campbell Brown that this morning, haven't got the technical ability to paste it here, was in a conversation with Mark Ricciuto of all people MR "surely you are going to contest that charge mate, just saw it, they are joking" CB "I'm contesting it mate, can't believe it" I tweeted........"you are kidding Brownie, there was a second action, involuntary or not, u r not a cleanskin"
  20. OD you will find most of us have answered the same way, but if you bemoan the last decade remember a lot on this board are members who have rights, most have sat on their hands for the last decade, so basically we got what we deserved
  21. You mean like Leigh Brown the premiership winning forward from Collingwood.....oh that's right he's already the forward coach....love a good laugh in the afternoon thanks....glad it's Peter Jackson in charge and not you.......and street cred......it's footy not X Factor.....Red Phooey must be influencing you too much
  22. I am here chap, just been busy at work, been reading the site, we are just in a horrible place at the moment, don't see any point in beating myself up, agree with Craig would like to see a bit of 'effort' for last four games, but not holding my breath, nice to see Truck Davis finally get a chance after 2 years of really good consistent footy at Casey, if nothing else it will show him and the Club whether he can cut it at AFL level......think like a lot of supporters at the moment, will watch the away games on the telly and switch off if it becomes intolerable and go to Fremantle game........then watch with interest what we do then.......we will be coming from way way way back next year
  23. I seriously don't know where posters get that Pedersen is unfit, I know the intesity level at Casey is slightly lower but watched a game few weeks back where he had one rest on the bench the whole game. And the fat part, saw him at training, sans shirt, taking off the GPS, no excess baggage, think he is just big bodied. Having seen a lot of VFL. was quite pleased when we got him, not sure what the problem is at the moment, but he is not on his own for putting in poor performances at AFL level this year
  24. "I'll see if I can find the sports psych reference I recently read on this topic - a beaut article with a good reference list to boot" No don't, I am sure I speak for some of the more mature posters on this board, when I say this is what is wrong with modern sport, oh for the days of just watching 22 guys chasing the ball around and then wondering which pub to go to for a few drinks afterwards, and bumping into the 22 guys there as well.
