It depends on your definition of critical, bagging for bagging sake is not criticism, it is like a poster on this topic who said Nichos skills let him down in the Ammos, strange didn't stop him being judged by others as the best player in the whole comp. Also I do not defend, what I get continually peeved about is the lack of facts put forward in arguments, or discussions based on a rumour or heresay, when you ask somebody to back something up, nothing, and then we got a torrent of hindsight pundits going I told you so, or revisionists I don't paint everything as rosy, I just wait to see what eventuates, coz unlike some on here, I realise I have no influence whatsoever in the decisions made. Unfortunately these days a lot of the 'decisions' are media driven, but that is not just restricted to the footy world Some posters on here seem more concerned about me than the footy, which in a perverse way I find flattering -

I'll just put two examples, when we got Morton at 4 we received congratulations from everybody else, Cook was U18 AA and was expected to go top 10.............every club has poor choices......why do you think suddenly mature age recruits are being picked up........less of a chance of failure -

But in the first 3 qtrs what did Griffen touches amount to, not much, the last qtr was a team surrender, Nicho's first game as a tagger against a guy who is in red hot form, hard task masters indeed, I wouldn't mind seeing him have a crack at Hanneberry.... -

That is the point, in hindsight they were (possibly) mistakes, at the time they weren't, I take it clairvoyance is one of your strong suits -

I am not friends with the entire list, only most of them, .... but I go to the game, yes I groan if we turn it over, I just don't think bagging players achieves anything, no matter what, if you are not good enough you will be found out eventually......at the moment and not sure of the actual number but we have so many players with less than 50 games under their belt, yes there are mistakes, but the only way they will really improve is playing games.........but I am also a believer in having to earn them, at the moment Nicho is in form and has worked on the areas he had to work on, so it is up to him to lose his place in the team....... -

Give it a rest, this has been covered ad infitum, it's more like War and Peace, which as Woody Allen said "is a book about Russia"....... most of the supposed failures have gone, here is an exercise for you, go back to the Phantom Drafts and see where most pundits thought Morton, Gysberts, Cook, Maric et al would go in the draft, you will see they went where most thought they would.........hindsight is a wonderful thing, just ask Richard Tambling -

Well said, although I wouldn't start holding your breath, talk to Nicho quite a bit, knows where he needs to improve, wants to improve, in the team, and wants to stay there......I actually had a bit of fun last game...unfortunately sat in front of a mouth who did nothing but bag players.........when Fitzy had the shot from the boundary, he started....turned around and told him Fitzy would kick it with a banana (saw him do the same thing at Casey) when he did, the look on his face was priceless........you have to remember most Melbourne supporters especially some on this board, were born perfect -
Nice to see not "all" the posters on Demonland are so anti Dunn, that means that we "all" watch the game
-
The wind has changed, read some of the posts towards the end of last season....along the lines of "well bugger me, if Dunn hasn't surprised me, and resurrected his career", unfortunately along with Nicho has now got the target back, and to think everybody thought Fitzpatrick was a dud as well, surprised no calls for him to be dropped, what's wrong proved people wrong AGAIN
-
It is factual, I don't need to provide a link, as you can't link the chinese whispers that appear on here, if you must nitpick, try picking on some of the whispers instead Anyway, as all posters have seen, if you are going to quote, quote verbatim No sorry, been on this board too long to accept that, one person says "Dunn is crap", and quite a few jump onboard, don't want to be seen to be different or not following the trend, one of the more sad things that is happening in modern society, one of the reasons everybody thinks Reality Television is real
-
Thanks chap, not getting cranky, just playing along
-
Thought that might be what you need to do, feel the urge to criticise did we, pointing out that the quote was paraphrased that is all, go with the 'factual' statement, bit hard on here sometimes I know, but prefer, if you are one of the few regular readers of my posts, you will know that Dunn played his role, seems to me some people want change for change sake, and Dunn is an easy target, think perhaps if Grimes comes back in, it will be at the expense of Byrnes
-
Jack didn't say that, it was paraphrased, I put exactly what he said
-
Thank you, obviously an intelligent person
-
Why was he below standard?....for the last quarter?....what was his role on Saturday?
-
Personal opinion, think he/the club started to build him the wrong way, think they tried to bulk up a bit too much last season, and he was still growing, trimmed back this pre season and overdid the running, hence the foot, agree probably put back a year, but starting to show signs, spoke to him at training two weeks ago after the bye, feels really fresh and stronger, looking at involving himself more and more, disappointed in last season himself, said he just needs uninterrupted run of games
-
Clint, he is not injured, not doing a full pre season hasn't helped him, but the last two games have shown he is getting back to where he should be
-
Not everybody thinks I am annoying, some find it amusing when I go Orc hunting, haven't had to for a while, they must be back in the caves getting their breath back for the next attack, not many targets left, even Lynden Dunn has been playing ok, not brilliant, but ok, and a win helps.....anyway thank you for caring, my nephew thinks I am cool by the way

"Craigy's probably brought more of a freedom and when we have the ball in our hands, really trying to test the opposition offensively and make them defend us. "There's no doubt this year we've done a lot of chasing tail and it's now our turn when the ball gets in our hands to really make them defend us. "That's probably what Craigy's brought." And the rest So it is a mixture of what was paraphrased So again it is not an outright criticism of Neeld's methods
-
"Coming from Neeldy, he probably took the more defensive approach and really tried to put a strangle on the game, and there's no doubt we've learnt some great principles from that, which we showed on the weekend as well," Trengove said on SEN radio. Slightly different take
-
Like posters on a footy board, obviously
-
Didn't hear back from Mitch Clark on Twitter, but Matt Burgan put a piece on Melbourne website, know he follows me on Twitter, I think Clark will be ok, if he can get it right before the start of next pre season, think that is more important than seeing him again this year
-
Er no, he went over the season they won
-
He walked up at training last Friday, still looked fit, ie no weight on him, said hello, was none committal when asked by somebody on the fence when he was due back, think they are being over cautious, last thing they want is the Egan situation, think that was a one off, he came back too quickly, lots of other players have made full recovery since....as for Viney, wanted to play last week.........probably Casey for him, hate to be a midfielder for Werribee next week...have asked Mitch Clark for a one word on his foot on Twitter, see if I get anything back
