I was probably pointing as much to the fact that the Hawks, outside of the suspeneded Rioli, had a full list to choose from. If that is the best they can dish up to us, with some fine assistance by the 3 monkeys, then looking forward i am optimistic.

This is a positive we can take out of the game as well, Injury list Melbourne Max Gawn (knee) - season Jack Grimes (hamstring) - test Jordan Gysberts (back) - indefinite Danny Hughes (ankle) - test Neville Jetta (shoulder) - season Stef Martin (hip) - season John Meesen (foot) - season Brent Moloney (quad) - 1 week Ricky Petterd (shoulder) - season Jake Spencer (back) - indefinite Aaron Davey Hawthorn Max Bailey (knee) - indefinite Cyril Rioli Plenty more upside for us as far as I am concerned.

Lynden Dunn getting a new deal?
Jerry Lundergard replied to RedDragon1972's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wow, people get a little testy when they get called out for something don't they? The term "hater" shouldn't be taken so literally, just a light heartered poke at those who like to get on these boards and make a call on footballers careers as they sit behind their notebooks. I have been guitly myself and would gladly cop it on the chin if proven wrong. And Rhino, making a comparison between calling someone a hater and labelling someone a racist, says something more about your intellect rather than mine IMO. -
The Jack Watts has arrived game.

I didn't mention Warnock, as he is one of those defenders that Roughie has monstered in the past.
-
I know he has been ordinary lately, and Hawk fans have been riding him, but Roughhead worries me more than Buddy because he always seems to play well against us. I am inclined to play Frawley on him because i think he is the only one with the strength to go with him, he seems to have monstered anyone else we have put on him. That would leave Garland for Franklin who played well on him 2 years ago and whose closing speed and spoiling may trouble him on the lead. Riv can play his 3rd man up role he is suited to. Thoughts?

Lynden Dunn getting a new deal?
Jerry Lundergard replied to RedDragon1972's topic in Melbourne Demons
A conundrum this week is, do we keep Dunn in the forward line where he has been kicking goals, or do we send him to Hodge who struggles with a tag(then the Hawks struggle), because Dunn would seem the perfect matchup for Hodge. He started in the centre against the Bombers and did a fine lock down job on Jobe to help set up that win. Cam Bruce may be the other player to run with Hodge as ROK did last week. BTW, i have been on the Dunn bandwagon for a while. There have been many haters on this site, and you know who you all are! Dunn is a Gun -
Why break up a winning formula at the moment? Miller was great yesterday, but he was essentially playing against school kids. Look what Rocca did to Dawson all those years ago, it was not going to happen every week though was it? Miller kicked 5 or 6 against Port when he got back in our side, and then what? Not much, same as always.

You are either Maric's brother, or you didn't see yesterdays Casey game. Bad call!
-
Lachie Henderson kicked 10 goals for the Bullants this year(same round as Dunn i think), and didn't get a recall. If the team wins today again, i see no reason for a change. I also had Maric for just about worst on ground yesterday. He found a bit of the ball, but his decision making and disposal were abysmal.

Looking forward to a possible McKenzie vs. Martin match up in the midfield this week.

I found it interesting that our leading goal kicker this year would be paying $31 for first goal in todays game at the TAB. Probably wouldn't affect the odds though if he is going to miss, but I will taking a piece of that if he is playing.

I agree with this. Bate does a power of work around the half forward line, and although he can sometimes seem sloppy and ineffective, it still requires a decent defender to shade him all day. I just don't see anyone on our team who will fill that void, so I too won't be surprised if he is in the team on Sunday, similar to the Lewis and Sewell rockets at Hawthorn.

I personally think Goodes just had a poor day last year. Morton was pretty good, but i felt that it had more to do with Goodes than Cale. Remember when Miller towelled up Hall? In hindsight, Barry may have had an off day, but for the next 3 years that game was referenced constantly when talking about Miller and where he should play. Dunn on Goodes for me. And if Roos was smart he would keep Goodes away from the forward line knowing that his confidence will take a hit if Chip goes to him.

I have actually been thinking lately that Kosi may be a good fit for our club. I know he is playing like garbage at the moment, but a change of scenery may be a catalyst for a form revival, and he may benefit from playing in a team where the ball will(eventually) get moved down the ground quicker that what is at the Saints. Leigh Brown was just about washed up before the Pies took him on, and Kosi has far more talent than Brown. We just need him to crash packs, bring the ball to ground, take a good defender and maybe pinch hit in the ruck. The only issue may be what it would cost us.

If the AFL were fair dinkum, they would be sending Freo a please explain letter for what appears to be a team practice, starting with the skipper, that when you feel any sort of pressure when over the ball around a pack, you dive forward to the ground with your arms out and try to milk a free kick. I saw Trengove win one for us last week doing it, and didn't like it, but the whole Freo team consistently do it all game. Disgraceful!

Of course i would like to make the finals, but any team that loses to the Eagles on their home deck, ultimately doesn't deserve to be there.
-
Did anyone hear the Essendon supporters behind the Punt Rd goals with all their wannabe soccer chants at 3/4 time? Anyone would have thought they were up by 5 goals and not us. Big props to the guy sitting with his partner, when we kicked a couple early in the 4th, who ran up the aisle toward the muppets absolutely giving it to them. They weren't heard again for the rest of the game.
-
I would have thought Jobe being out would be the only player from them that would suspend betting. Big Gumby is not a great loss.

All of these ones in this thread RR. Dees vs. Bombers Aug 2nd 2008

Watching Martin tonight, I reckon it is a certainty that he will poll the most votes for the award. Both are gun players, but i feel Martin is ahead of all of them at the moment. It may be hollow victory for Trengove if he receives the award when not polling the most votes.

You forgot to mention 2008, wildly regarded as one of the worst umpired games of all time in terms of us getting screwed.
-
And so do the likes of Roughhead, Mooney and Kosi. Forwards will miss them from time to time. I know you hate him Jaded, but considering the ball hardly ever gets into our F50, he did alright today.

In games like yesterdays, when Aaron Davey is completely ineffectual and tagged out the game, I can see no reason why he should not take every single one of our kick ins, unless there is a clear cut quick outlet. He has the ability to hit targets 40-50 mts out with regularity every time he does take them, so why not get him to do it more often. It is an area we have always struggled in, and when teams put on that tight forward press like the Crows and Hawks do, we tend to crumble and not be able to move the ball forward as we have nobody with foot skills to hit targets with precision like Davey. It would also allow him to gain some confidence by getting a feel of the pill and a kick. We need to find ways to get Davey into games when he has a hard tag, because along with Jamar and Frawley, I feel he is our most important player, and we can't afford him to have games like he had against Adelaide and Carlton.

Our form at Etihad is on par with AAMI, so i wouldn't bet on it.
