Essendon..
It will get even worse if they do a cover of OMD’s ‘Enola Gay’

You’re right Mazer; I’m a dreadful person.

Roaming Brian - Round 4 vs Swans
Not AFL, but I have a version of the last few minutes of the 2003 Rugby World Cup. All you hear is the referees directives and the crowd. It’s brilliant. Shame about the result.

What to do with Nathan Jones
Kudos to him for fighting back not only from a sub-par 3 weeks plus a first quarter where he seemed to be often pitted against Heeney - a tough assignment for anyone. On the wing, most of the same problems of lack of pace and disposal precision issues still stood out. However, up forward, when it got congested, he played like an inside mid / old fashioned rover. 3 critical goals; great effort, great response.

FMD kick pass, kick pass, kick pass, goal Melbourne. Never thought I’d live long enough to ever see that again!

Gary Pert?
You could have Jesus and his old man in the backline, still wouldn’t make a difference if the head coach keeps on insisting on playing turtles on the wing.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Another game lost at the match committee stage. Although the Wagners were good, we needed more run. Nathan Jones on the wing against a fast side like Essendon; it beggars belief. ANB, currently bringing very little to the table. Reports of Stretch being BOG last week and he can’t get a game over these two. FMD.

Enjoyable as those nights were, it’s too 1-dimensional. Yes, it’s been worked out. Still I’d rather we start with a core squad of hard inside contested ball winners and then add polish later. Sadly, it may take a couple of years to fix redress the balance of our squad; giving time for our recent recruits to develop and trading/drafting other quality ball users. We should become more competitive as the season progresses, but the media’s beat up as us being a flag contender looks way off the mark.

The Writing Was/Is on the Wall

I think he has the potential to be a very fine player. Normally his tackling and second efforts are pretty good. Hopefully last night was an aberration.- Changes v Essendon
Out: Jones, O.Mac, ANB, Sparrow, May (inj) In: Stretch, Petty, Baker, Wagner, Spargo Petty a straight swap for O.Mac. With May injured go smaller and faster in the backline with Wagner. Jones too slow and hack disposal, bring in Stretch. Sparrow to Casey for development, give Baker a shot to counter Essendon’s leg speed. Drop ANB and increase the forward lines IQ by bringing in Spargo. Would like to try Preuss at some stage, but when classy crumbers like Garlett become available; need someone like that at his feet. The biggest change however needs to be the death of ‘Phonebox football’. Where there’s a pack of three or four of our guys surrounding one or two opponents, who then knock it out to space and we’re left flat footed whilst they run away with it.- Sam Weideman + contract
Thanks for clarifying that; was going to go get my eyesight checked.- Demonland Player of the Year - Round 2

No chance he’s going to be sacked, but seriously there needs to be a plan B. At the moment we’re down on pace and skill. Team selection needs to be about team balance. Last year we had Tyson on the wing. Now it’s Jones. Chunk has a lot of heart but he has never ever been fleet of foot. - Sam Weideman + contract
