Or even Casey where he knows most of the players. He could even play in a Premiership team for Casey if he jumps on the bandwagon this year and he certainly would remain under the eye of the MFC if he stars.
-
This morning's paper had us, the western bulldogs and the saints all on the same odds. I prefer our chances rather than the other two.
-
The betting in this morning's paper had us at $13 against making the Final 8. Obviously the odds-makers cannot see much improvement in our side despite: the injection of Braywshaw, Hogan, McCartin, Frost, HL, Garlett, Stretch, Newton, etc, Toumpas, Gawn and Salem all having done a complete pre-season and last, but not least, the reliable brigade of Jones, Tyson, Jetta, Dunn, Viney, Howe and McDonald. What do other demonlanders think? Is this a good way to invest our nesteggs?
-
It would be nice to see Casey win a premiership this year! There are four Casey players already training with Melbourne, they have secured a fulltime coach tfor next year and hopefully we will have a better run of injuries, giving them access to more players!
-
Nobody is talking about pick 53 that we also received in the trade for Frost. I know that we can use it to upgrade Jetta however surely we can use later picks for that rather than waste it. There is no reason that there may not be good players left at 53 and/or are we planning to use pick 2 in the pre-season draft [i.e. by grabbing Tutt ahead of Carlton]?
-
THEN WHY NOT TAKE MCKENZIE AT 40 AND MCCARTIN AT 3?
-
Or even Fitzy!
-
Ex Melbourne Grammar like the Cordners sounds good [however isn't that where the Cockatoo-Collins twins also went?]. Nice to break away from Brighton Grammar and Dawes, Watts and Harmes(?) [and Josh Kelly].
-
SEN's mock draft has the Western Bulldogs grabbing Oscar at 23 but the WB selectors hopefully have other ideas.
-
We have Toumpas, Salem and Stretch just for starters, two of whom are already in the system [and will be much-improved aftter their first full pre-season]. Lever and Laverde are starting from the same position as Stretch and there is absolutely no argument that either will improve our structure to the extent Mccartin will [lining up alongside Hogan]!
-
He can fly a helicopter. Does that help?
-
Or it could be Oscar McDonald?
-
Actually he has played no more than either Hogan or Clark over this last year [and they were both touted as the reason we could only draft mids at this same time last year]!
-
And why wouldn't you be very happy? Brayshaw is a lock for us and we either get Petracca or McCartin. Both St Kilda and us will win out of this draft, whichever way we elect to go [or whatever hand we get dealt by the Saints]!
-
Paul Roos may like the kid but I think that I will go with the popular view that we will draft Brayshaw and McCartin/Petracca as the two best available. Either way, our list will be considerably improved.

Or PSD No. 2. -
We are still going on with the NicNat vs Watts debate however if you look at this year's Best and Fairest count for West Coast and the MFC you will see that they have polled remarkably evenly in the voting at their respective Club's with Jack actually polling more votes than Nic despite being one place lower overall. Melbourne - Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal10. Jack Watts - 185 votesWest Coast - John Worsfold Medal 9. Nic Naitanui - 103 votes
-
What you are asking is for kids who chose to be professional sportsmen, to take two years off their [limited] working life! I am not sure how the AFL Players Association will view that as a good idea!

Evans has got to go for pick #40. At least the others featured in our recent B&F since coming on board, more a combination of their approach to the contest and our poor list overall rather than an indication of their skill set at AFL level. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN NEWTON

Another go at the team suggested by JW, bearing in mind our two draft picks may be ready to go. Dunn Frost Jetta Lumumba Mcdonald Garland Vince Tyson Watts McCartin Dawes Howe Garlett Hogan Kent Foll: Gawn, Jones, Viney Interchange: Brayshaw, Newton, Salem, Toumpas Emergencies: Cross, JKH, Stretch The above assumes that both Salem and Toumpas have a strong pre-season, but it grieves me to think that Cross, JKH and Stretch may not be automatic selections, plus that Jamar, Pederson, Mitchie, Bail and co-captain Grimesmay also be squeezed out by some of the new blood. -
Quite frankly, I am more than happy to go along with Paige's call!
-
Yes but we must remember that Hogan has been on our list for two years so it is not the same as starting two KPFs on the same day. Personally I am excited about the the possibility of the two of them debuting together with Dawes [just as I was last year with the idea of Mitch Clak, Dawes and Hogan, none of whom appeared at round 1]!
-
If you look at McCartin's highlights then you will see that he manages to post most kicks through the middle. Personally, I feel that he will greatly enhance our list [if selected] and look forard to seeing him and Hogan lining up alonside each other in 2015 [collecting kicks from Brayshaw, Tyson, Viney, Salem, Toumpas etc.]!
-
Yes but it is more than merely Mckenzie and Evans and the injured Trengove. Who knows how Barry and King are going to perform next year and what a risk it is [or isn't] keepimg them for an additional year?
-
So there is no way that we are considering delisting the injured Trenners or the under-perfoming Evans and paying out their contracts? This is a massive shame as I am sure that there are players sitting around pick 40 [Oscar McDonald?] who may may improve our list better [and with more flexibility] in both the short and the long-term.
