Tony Sullivan. 191 games in the number 4. 👏👏 His son Chris Sullivan was given the number 4 to follow in his fathers footsteps. -
The Delisted Free Agent Thread
spirit of norm smith replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
THE WESTERN Bulldogs have provided Lachlan Bramble with a second chance, signing the delisted Hawk after the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) opened on Monday. The 25-year-old has started training with Luke Beveridge’s squad, with the main group reporting back for pre-season training a week after the club's first to fourth-year players. Bramble played 30 games across three seasons at Waverley Park, including 11 appearances in 2023, after being signed by the Hawks via the SSP at the start of 2021. -
Change coming to the Academy System
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes the Lions also have Sam Marshall in 2024 draft pack. Hes a strong young mid/half back. He is boarding at Melbourne Grammar and got a VFL game as a 17yo with Brisbane. He also played in under 18s this year with the Allies and Sandringham Dragons. I’d have him around the pick 13-14 mark right now so another GIFT for the Lions. A first round gift indeed !!!! -
Welcome Back to Demonland Marty Hore
spirit of norm smith replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Welcome back. We are indeed fully loaded with medium tall defenders like Lever, Joel Smith, Turner and now Hore. -
Yes I agree but Casey already is a logjam of tall forwards - Schache, Jefferson, BBB, Tmcd -plus alternative of Fullerton/Verrell. McLaughlin should go to Frankston as their number 1 forward.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
2024 has a lot of high quality mids. I think the first 10 selections could be purely midfielders next year. As for key defenders, Noah Mraz was a youngster at Dandenong Stingrays this year. Light frame but good height and not overawed by bigger opponents. One to keep a watch on next year. -
Tarkyn O’Leary should be at Sandringham VFL in 2024. Outstanding runner. Elite skills. Excellent GF performance. Very unlucky. He played 3 games for Sandy VFL team last year and impressed. Thoughts Saints were his option but they went Schoenmaker with final pickup.
-
AS REPORTED VFL: top signing for North Melbourne VFL squad. The Kangas have locked in ex-Demon Deakyn Smith, who won the Casey Demons' best and fairest this year, polling votes in every round.

@KC from Casey surely Kobe is going to be in Casey list for 2024 father-son connection and he’s shown great form this year he deserves to keep his potential AFL dream alive 20 metre sprint at state combine of 3.0 seconds as good as any with good burst through half back Kobe Shipp Defender/Winger 187cm – 80kg Played plenty of football as a bottom-aged player for Dandenong and made a name for himself on AFL Grand Final day last year with an intercept-marking masterclass in the under-17s all-stars clash. Shipp is good one-on-one and distributes well out of the back half, but played on a wing throughout the national championships given Vic Country’s talent-laden halfback line. He has had excellent year for Dandenong and holds his width to get possessions in space.

Jackson was for 1st rd 2022 and 1st and 2nd round 2023 Jackson = Jefferson and Windsor note the 2nd rd pick 27 was flipped as part of Dees get 11, Crows get 14,27,35 Throlstrup = (after picks ontraded to other clubs the 14,27,35 was) Darcy Wilson, Billy Wilson and Luke Lloyd time will tell
-
Ps. Scully moved after 2 years “away from home” to go interstate ($$$$$$)
-
Is it go home and clubs targeting players who have moved interstate? Probably easier start to discussion or negotiation to have to “bring you home” when trying to attract players.

@Whispering_Jack @KC from Casey tell someone at Casey to get a pen and a contract Local boy who imv was very very unlucky not to get drafted. His unavailability for the combine was a disappointment. Kade De La Rue State: Victoria Country State League Club: Dandenong Stingrays Community Club: Beaconsfield Date of Birth: 19/11/05 Height: 183cm A medium midfielder/forward whose strength is accumulating the ball and then making good decisions with his neat disposal. Had an excellent season with the Dandenong Stingrays in the Coates Talent League where he averaged 20.5 disposals, 4.4 tackles and 2.8 clearances across 11 matches. Represented Victoria Country in all four of its matches at the National Championships including being among his team’s best with 22 disposals and five marks in the victory against Western Australia. Was unable to test at the Draft Combine due to injury.

@Nascent Good call adding this kid. Lorenz went pick 57
-
@dee-tox you may be right. His quality stands out and saints did well as a pick 62 selection. At that point to get such a top 30 slider is a good punt imv

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Thanks @Nascent I think Dees will be more active next year. But it’s going to be compromised again by academy and father son picks. -
Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
spirit of norm smith replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let’s go !!! Deserved a rookie spot. Welcome Kynan. 👏👏👏 Hopefully it’s made official in the morning. -
Geelong steal George Stevens at pick 58. Ollie Wines clone. He’s got AFL quality and could play round 1.
-
unbelievable thought these 3 youngsters would be drafted by now Arie Schoenmaker Archie Roberts George Stevens definitely top 35 in my opinion
-
No. Hope he doesn’t get picked. MFC can then select him as a rookie.
-
Adding in draft numbers on the ones to watch. Already seeing the key 2nd round players getting drafted as expected Cooper Simpson at 35 is a steal !!! Freo have got a ripper youngster
-
Yes I’d like another extra list spot but feel like it’s fully loaded. Only young Brown and Hore likely to be added. We are carrying Tmcd and BBB more due to contracts held than likely impact at this time. Hope I’m proven wrong. Look at Petty and JVR as starting key forwards in 2024. TMCD and BBB are in with Schache & Fullerton, as plan B key forwards (Jefferson still under development in 2024).
-
Hope that 4 & 6 does go to Windsor and Tholstrup. Love the potential blend here of experience next to some of the high level youth coming through. 1 May 2 van Rooyen 3 Salem 4 Windsor 5 Petracca 6 Tholstrup 7 Viney
-
Yes the 7/8 available players left out was not received well at Casey. Especially give 4/5 players could have easily played without a problem really as only 3 emergencies were potentially required. In fact only Schache was added the following week and he was the unused sub. 🤮😤🤣 A question mark against the “alliance “.
