WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Happy days

Shaun McKernan
Question Are we looking to have a back up ruckman who can go forward OR a backup forward who can ruck. ???? I’m not sure why there is no love for Mitch Brown. He played an excellent last 5 weeks when given the chance. I thought h I e should have been in earlier in the year. In fact he was nearly BOG in round 18 and showed the bummers what they missed. He supported Max in the ruck and was a very good CHF option. I know if we get Bbrown then lose Preuss and Tmc as expected it means: ruck - Gawn, back up Jackson key fwds - BBrown Weid Jackson back up Mitch Brown. I’d stump a role for someone like Lewis Pierce who was at the Saints. As posted earlier, he’s eligible as a DFA. Would fit as a low $$ mature type backup ruck.

2020 Contracts and List Details
Jayden Hunt - get him signed up for 2 years James Jordan - get him signed up for 1 year Bedford - wait and see, probably 1 year deal Nietscke - delist, then rookie list for 1 year deal OMc- trade or delist Hannan ❌❌❌ ? rookies Mitch Brown - definitely a 1 year deal Lockhart- definitely a 1 year deal Chandler - I think he misses out Bradtke - cat B Extended for 1 year

Rumour only file ...
Yes it’s 3 years with performance based trigger to get 4th year. That’s about right. I was very nervous about a 5 year deal. Need to reserve 5 year deals for gun mids like JV, Clarry and Trac. End 2021 - Clarry gets 5 year deal, Salem gets 4 year deal, Maxy gets 3 year deal.

AFL Trade Radio
Crows need to push this and match it. It’s another example of a top 6 team taking players from the bottom clubs. Free agency as an equalizer! What BS from Gil Mc !!!!!

Assistant Coaches 2021
Yes another change to Godwin’s personnel. Sam Radford has also decided / continues to go to full time teaching and so has stepped down from the Casey role. He will be doing Opposition Analysis/strategy/education work as a part time role. I’d like to see someone like Jared Rivers back as Casey coach. I heard him talk about the game in 2019 and he seemed very astute and decisive about modern day footy.

Good News for Footy Crowds in 2021
I agree with members only plan. But allow for one guest where possible for games v interstate clubs. Need to get 25,000 as a starting number. Perhaps also make the Lions and Suns go into a travel bubble in 2021 and play 18 away games !?!?!?

CHANGES 2020 by The Oracle
Like me in another thread, also include Mitch Hannan has requested a trade to the Dogs.

Farewell Oscar McDonald
Just to confirm. I played 8 years at Tooroonga Malvern in the 90s with Barry Trotter, Jamie Cooper and Greg Hamilton. Ex VFL players in the day and the Southern League A level was not for the faint hearted. The day we beat Collingwood Districts at their ground, including an all in brawl in the last quarter still is a good memory. I was lucky that the Tranq was driving that day and we got out of the car park okay. anyway back to the thread Simply Oscar was not good enough. He was given or gifted so many chances but apart from the rare game, he never showed himself capable at AFL standard. Ultimately he never found the extra agility or strength or intensity to be up to AFL standard. So it’s time to move on. But he wore the red and blue and we wish him the best.

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
I think we can get a bargain with Phillips and Brown. They aren’t wanted by their clubs. Time to turn the screws.

Farewell Oscar McDonald
Memories of Oscar He didn’t quite develop as we had hoped we are ok for tall defenders with May, Lever, Petty, Tomlinson

TMac on the Trade Table?
I think it’s 3/9 went ok to be playing decent footy at their new club.

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
Thanks DD36. Tom Browne meets Captain Obvious once again. I just hope the Dees hierarchy have half as much sense as Dland posters. We were on board this weeks ago. Fellow posters and Dees fanatics- just out of interest, what would be offer for Phillips. ? future 2021 MFC 2nd round pick ? ? ? straight swap with Tmc and we pay some of Tmc contract $ ?? ? 2020 MFC pick that we get for Preuss from GWS roughly - pick 34-35 by the time ? ? 2020 MFC pick that we get for Hannan from Dogs - roughly pick 50 ?
-
Jared Polec
No. If Phillips is available, then he’s cheaper in terms of draft picks # and contract $$$. Polec still has question marks over why he is looking at a 4th club now. I’m a No on Polec as it stands today.

2020 Player Reviews: #38 Mitch Brown
Exactly. His last 6 weeks showed he’d go around again in 2021. Virtually BOG versus bombers in round 18 which stuck it up the Essenbummers. He should have been given more games earlier. Good mark. Good kick. Agile. Knows his limitations. Rookie deal costs us shillings compared to a Tmc deal. Get his 1 year deal signed off “yesterday”.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
We need to take it on now. Like those old cats, we need to grab our chance. Trac,Clarry,Maxy,May,Langers & JV can get it done. Get a few gaps fixed and a coach with some balls to bring it home. We’re not waiting around and seeing everyone else improve their list. If your not getting better, you’ve already gone backwards.

Chris Scott must have really got into Isaac Smith’s ear !!!

Trade Targets
Any love at all for Josh Caddy. If we miss out on other targets like a Phillips, Narkle etc. would we ask the Tigers about Caddy’s availability. He seems on the fringe at the Tigers but is a proven player and goalkicking half forward. I’m not sure about his off field behavior but thought I’d raise the question.
-
Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
The trade works for both clubs but I agree I think we will end up paying some $$$ of Tmc contract.
-
Jaidyn Stephenson
Agreed. I’m not buying Stephenson. His mind looked lost towards the end of 2020. Talented. But his intensity and work ethic was poor. I think the pies see the future and want to sell his stock now. I’d be very very cautious.

Trade Targets
Sorry all. I’d forgotten about Mitch Hannan already.
