He’s an absolute champion. Get him a pen. Sign up until 2025 at least

Mitch Hannan ? Did he resign or remains out of contract? He went backwards after an excellent 2018 like a few others. Seems to be inconsistent and wants to fly for marks against taller teammates and opponents rather than crumb the pack. He could be a very good half forward with skills and pace but seems let down by his footy IQ. I’d like to see him retained at least for another year but his 2020 form didn’t make his new contract a no-brainer.

Love the pooch. Jeff is a great Demon man. He’s been at a few of the Dees games in Queensland. Maybe a future father-son.

Interested? Yes. Yes. Yes. $600k a year salary ? No no no ... NO ! Kangas need to at least pay 1/3rd from their cap.

Matt Jones. ✅. 61 games. 4 years. Pick 53 draft that’s a reasonable return for a pick above 50. was going ok until a few injuries impacted him good bloke as well

Hawks trade Sam Frost for Preuss. ?????. Sorry !! What can they offer?? Isaac Smith might get a 2 year deal with MFC and walks as an unrestricted free agent. Screw the dorks !
-
What is the Lions salary cap? I thought it bursting this year but it seems they can fit in a guy wanting $700k a year. Wow. Must be those budget night accounting gremlins doing some magic work again !!!

I remember Jackson Ross being a very good youngster a few years ago. I saw him kick 5-6 goals against Casey at the start of 2019 and thought he was going to be a very good player. Fits the 3rd tall forward role similar to Fritsch so probably not a required type for the Dees. He’s a good youngster so might get a rookie look in somewhere.

With no U18s National Championships and the Vic under 18s comp not being held, this years draft pool is hard to assess. I have worked off last years champs and the Futures games as well as the brief videos and YouTube content in WAFL and SANFL performances. There may be a good opportunity for the Dees to draft in 1-2 mature aged players (ie. Above 18 year old) with perhaps a 3rd or 4th round picks. Clubs have recently had some success with mature age types like Luke Ryan, Sam Collins, Fritsch and Brodie Mihocek to name a few. Good players identified so far are: Sam Fisher, 22yo Swan Districts WAFL - exNthnBlues, exSydneySwans rookie. Skilled. Left footer. Good pace and footy IQ. Moved across to WA this year and won the Sandover Medal. Definitely value pick in 50s or 60s. Jacob Wehr, 21yo WWT Eagles SANFL . Half back with excellent skills and ability to kick 55-60 metres. Composed defender. Could play wing as an option. Perhaps a rookie pick. Ryhan Mansell, 20yo WWT Eagles SANFL. Originally from Tassie and moved to SA this year. Wing or half forward. Talented indigenous player with burst of pace and skills. Unlucky not to be drafted. I think he will get onto an AFL list. Whilst he’s still developing, I think he is too good for state league footy and would thrive with a AFL club. Probably pick in the 60s is about right.

I think it’s ok to say Oscar has been disappointing and has not improved to reach ongoing AFL standard. Definitely agree he must be delisted or traded for a pick in the 60s ( 4th round pick). One satisfactory game and then three poor games does not warrant staying in the list. Tom also probably needs to move on. He’s given his best but unless he gets more agile, he’s lack of pace is detrimental, even for a tall. Maybe a good summer may recharge him.

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
He’s an interesting player. He showed good agility for a big guy in Futures game that I saw last year. A few summers of gym sessions of course are needed as he’s very lightly build. Son of former Demon Darryl Cox so a good connection. On current picks, he’d be around the 18-20 mark and likely for Saints, Tigers or Lions. But if he was available at our pick, I’d definitely take him. -
Close the post. Mods? Time to move on as expected

Great news. Jack is a Demon for life. For all the reasons that I outlined. It’s a YES YES YES MOMENT

Did Collingwood benefit? Quaynor. Eddie would not stand for any new ruling that had a negative impact to the Pies -

Agreed. It’s really does impact the draft. I think there is good value still around 25-30 mark and the 4 youngsters mentioned. -

Agree Skuit. But the AFLhas never been an even playing field with all manner of draft concessions given to clubs from interstate zones to priority picks to preferred state league picks to pre- draft listings. Most applied recently to Suns and other interstate teams. -
2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Yes I agree that our pick “23” probably will slide given the number of Academy, father son and NGA allocated players. If we keep “23” it probably turns into 26-27. Assume preferred pick 15-23 guys like Jack Carroll, Eddie Ford and Archie Perkins are all gone and unlikely to slide. Players at that mark 26-27 would include Zac Dumesny - taller half back with good skills and played SANFL Senior footy in 2020. Andrew Mackie style of player. Jack Ginnivan - skilled smart half forward who has ability to play wing and push forward. Bendigo lad. Conor Rozee type. Bailey Chamberlain - speedy winger who debuted to West Adelaide seniors late in the year. Good pace and skills up to AFL standard. Think a young David Zaharakis type. Isaiah Winder - skill indigenous mid/forward who played senior footy at Peel in 2020. Great results at WA draft combine in sprint and endurance. Jack Martin type. Dees should look to make a bid for Brandon Walker from Freo NGA. Suits our need for quick skilled youngsters. Freo probably matches. -
2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Cal Twomey has released his updated Top 25 form guide. I’m amazed he has left out Nathan O’Driscoll. I had him top 12-14. -
Dees need a tall and quick defender to play key back and let Lever play as a 3rd intercept defender. I think we had Petty marked for that in 2020 but injury robbed us of his breakout year. ?for HP in 2021

Swap of Frawley for omcd. That’s some far out left over centre thinking !!! Unfortunately Frawley looked spent in 2020 and might actually be delisted by the dorks

O’Driscoll probably gets picked earlier than Carroll. I think he is top 10-12. He is a tough kid and good pace. Obviously not unlike Clarry Oliver imo given his “ginger” hairdo. Clubs with like him as he is ready to go in 2021 from round 1. Expect the Dockers or Cats to grab him in the 10-14 range. -

Jack Carroll is a kid that I saw in the 2019 Futures game and he impressed with his time and ball use efficiency. Reminded me of Scott Pendlebury. Kicked a beautiful goal in the last quarter that showed his composure and skills. I thought he was exactly the type of youngster we need. Maybe even think Simon Black in style. In the WA combine testing, Carroll had very good results for the vertical leap testing. Unfortunately there is no decision making or kicking efficiency tests as these are Jack’s strengths. I didn’t expect him to win the sprint. And don’t forget he was a teammate of Jacko and Riv in the 2019 East Freo Colts. Over to you JT to get it done. -
Exactly. Why would he leave ? His little brother is coming onboard for 2022. Move on
