Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Kellam said after he and jurors Richard Loveridge and Stephen Jurica viewed the footage, they believed Cripps did not bump and was merely contesting the ball. "The video did not reveal a bump, it set out as a contest for the ball that resulted in a collision," Kellam said The findings were unreasonable and did not comply with the requirements of procedural fairness." Cripps' counsel, Christopher Townshend QC, argued there was "a denial of natural justice" because Tribunal chairperson Jeff Gleeson had not directed the jury before they retired to give a verdict. He said the notion of a bump was a thesis thrown up by Gleeson, never explored, and never directed to his jury members. The Appeals Board agreed. "The findings the Tribunal came up with behind closed doors is they came up with two things at once (that it was a contest and that he chose to bump). It should have required some directions," Townshend said.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
now I’m about to boil over this is absolutely a wrong decision, and smells of a biased decision this is the facts Tribunal chairman Jeff Gleeson said the incident fell into the "bumping of an opponent" category and it was not a reasonable way to contest the ball. "He entered the contest at speed and saw a player in his peripheral vision, left his feet and bumped Ah Chee at high speed," Gleeson said. "He should have contested the ball differently. He could have taken the ball with his arms outstretched so there was no act of bumping at all." Cripps had options. Fact. Cripps chose to bump. Fact. Cripps jumped off his feet. Fact. Cripps hit AH Chee in the head. Fact. Ah Chee was concussed. Fact. Careless. Head high. High impact. 3 weeks minimum. This is the worst decision since … since … it’s probably the worst decision ever.

What a joke He should get 3 weeks for challenging the decision As the Tribunal said : Tribunal chairman Jeff Gleeson said the incident fell into the "bumping of an opponent" category and it was not a reasonable way to contest the ball. "He entered the contest at speed and saw a player in his peripheral vision, left his feet and bumped Ah Chee at high speed," Gleeson said. "He should have contested the ball differently. He could have taken the ball with his arms outstretched so there was no act of bumping at all." QED.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Where do I want to spend the $$$ on? A key forward right now if we can. Not on Grundy.

22Under22 Squad 2022
Definitely good to see Harry Petty and JJ getting recognition.

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Carlton
Agree. I’d be looking at Sparrow and Melksham as the outs. Hunt was okay in a defensive role. He might get one of Blues small forwards again this week.

Who's helping to fix our goal kicking woes?
Agree. Goalkicking has to be the primary focus. You have to WANT to kick the goal. Fuc&$$)& the selflessness mantra. If you’re within 30 metres, kick the goal. Forwards coach Greg Stafford. Ffs. You might as well have Tony Liberatore as ruck coach. ps Max. 1- stop endlessly spinning the footy 2- run in to kick straight through the goals

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Whilst I’m repeating myself. Incidental contact??? what BS. That’s not a footy act. The key issue to play out at the tribunal will be what duty of care Cripps had towards Ah Chee, given he elected to bump and lifted his feet off the ground, as the 2022 AFL guidelines state that if a player elects to bump, they take on the risk – and the consequences!!! This is what we need to stamp out of the game. Jumping and bumping to the head. It’s a low act from a star footballer !!

New Deals for Moniz-Wakefield, McVee & D. Smith
Yes this was an obvious move to sign them for one more year. Give them more of a go. I think Mcvee and Smith may struggle but I think AMW could look get a game next year under Choco’s development. He just seems to love the contact and intensity of AFL. Maybe it’s his rugby league background as a youngster.

Josh Kennedy
It’s a wild idea. Josh Kennedy is EXACTLY the type of player as a key forward that we need !!! But he’s body is finished and he’s probably mentally exhausted. He’s won a premiership so not sure it’s still on his bucket list.

Mason Cox
At least a $1500 fine. It was a dog act.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Wow. Only two weeks. Careless. Head high contact. High impact. Off the ground Chose to bump not tackle. He was definitely not trying to punch the footy. I’d thought 4 weeks but the MRO is a lottery really.
-
Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Surely the MRO determination should result in a suspension. Chose to bump not tackle Leapt off the ground Contact with the head Medium to high impact Player subbed out I think he gets 4 weeks, reduced to 3 weeks with a guilty plea.

Got what he deserved……
Howe has rubbished the Dees ever since he left. He’s not very welcome back imv.

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
Freo : lead by 30, lost by 38 Swans : lead by 26, lost by 12 Pies : lead by 22, lost by 26 Dogs : lead by 27, lost by 10 Pies: lead by 23, lost by 7 and Cats at PussyPark: 7 points down at 12 minutes last qtr, lost by 28 We have been “in” every game. I think we can beat any team if we play up to our talent and determination. We are the only ones stopping ourselves.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
ANB stays in? One good goal in the last. New name is “Captain fumbles “ and he often turns back into trouble. He definitely should be on the block as should Sparrow. Spargo earned a reprieve by his Freo outing. outs : Sparrow ANB Melksham In: JVR, Harmes, Chandler

Demons won't win the flag in 2022.
We are definitely still a huge chance at the premiership but must realize 1-,Opposition teams are playing us differently. they avoid stop start down the line footy to Gawn, Lever, May They look to deliver quick ball movement, daring footy, switching play, don’t go down the line, keep the ball low and targeted going into the forward line. 2. MFC tighten up when challenged. in the first half of matches, Dees have been winning and running with our own breathtaking ball movement to score easily (qtr 1 v pies) but definitely revert to very predictable defensive ball movement in the second half of games (v Swans, v Dogs v Pies) kicking down the line, high balls into our F50 etc we beat ourselves at our own game !!! .

Stats Files - 2022
Overhandballing - it’s clear to me and the stats don’t lie, I’m struggling to find a winning team or indeed any team that overuses the footy like the Dees. We want to support free running and carry but it’s getting too obvious to our opponents. Stats from the Cats and Pies games Dees v Cats Dees 190 kicks 160 handballs Cats 240 kicks 130 handballs Dees v Pies Dees 200 kicks 210 handballs Pies 200 kicks 100 handballs ps stats v freo Dees 200 kicks 140 handballs Dockers 210 kicks 180 handballs we often win if we are plus 50 or 60 on kicks to handballs … quick ball movement

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
Our best WILL beat anyone, including Geelong. Finally saw some real anger and disappointment in Goodwin. The supporters are even angrier. Will repeat that it’s not necessarily the personal changes and whether it’s Sparrow, ANB, Chandler or Bedford. From the Pies loss, the following changes are needed: Outs. 1. stop Overhandballing. It drives me crazy. We often go around in circles. More often to players under pressure. Dees 200 kicks 210 handballs (pies 200 kicks 100 handballs ). Often we handballed when free and running, straight to a player under pressure. Fix it now. Reference example - Jacko to ANB in last qtr. Guess what tackle and turnover. 2. Stop Kicking to the deep forward pocket - WTF. We target the hardest spot to convert from. That’s a reason why our conversion is so low. (Kick to advantage and the “hot spot” … that’s why it’s called the hotspot). And of course those stupid “bomb” sky high kicks that go 50 metres in the air 3. Goalkicking Accuracy must improve. Now. Missing easy chances week after week. It doesn’t cost you v lower teams. In a dog fight, it’s often the difference. Pies created chances and took them. Gawn OMG twice missed simple chances. Salem (at qtr time … unforgivable from 20 metres out). Fritsch snap from 13 metres out. We should have been 7 goals up at 1/2 time. 4. Stop going wide and wide and slow and kick to a contest. JJ and Lingers are stars but we don’t always have to go via the cape. (We need to play the corridor more). We have the runners. Perhaps we need to examine our poor conversions inside 50 as because we allow other teams to also flood back. No coincidence that our likely scoring is after a Centre bounce. ins. 1. Contested marking in the forward 50 (or at least bringing it to ground) .Brown and Jackson have hardly taken a grab in a contest. Even on the lead they seemingly fumbled. 2. Crumbing of the pack in the forward 50 when opportunity arises -Kozzzzzy looks amazing when it happens but often he’s missing (note to Goodwin - keep kozzzy inside fwd50 at all times, not up the ground) AND tackle not zone off the small rebounding defenders our conversion ability will see us rise or fall 3. Four quarters of footy, not just the 1st half. Perhaps yes all the above means we keep other sides in the contest. Keep the door open. Our lack of run and fitness is being questioned. Maybe given v Swans, Pies (twice) and Dogs we seemingly had it in control. Turning up in the second half and playing attacking footy in the last quarter is yet to happen. Switching off in the last quarter was seen even in most of our wins !! Are we ruthless? Not right now 4. Getting a “fair go” from the umps (not always in our control but a handy inclusion if available) Really. The Pies got some frees that we simply didn’t. The inconsistency was amazing. Maybe it was the crowd noise. I’m firmly believe that we have the players, the stars and the ability to win it. HOW WE WIN IT Win the Contested footy Win the Clearances Win the Centre clearances Convert our chances - Goalkicking Control the defensive zone deliver the 1%s (knock ons, Smothers) &!2nd efforts Uplift the amount of overlap running Stay fit and healthy through the next 7!weeks We have the best ruck and midfield combo Gawn, Oliver, Trac, Viney, Gus, Harmesy , Langdon, JJ

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Agreed. One key reason that we lost. Missed opportunities. We dominated them and missed chances in 1st half. 10 goals from 41 entries. Pies - 8 goals from 18 entries. So misguided kicks to the pockets and easy shots missed. They converted more easily and kept in touch. When they hit momentum, our 2-3 goal lead was eroded too easily. Ruthless? Salem’s quarter time miss from 20 metres out and resulting gigglefest told me “we are definitely not hungry as we should be”.
