AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
1st qtr. Vic country v Allies. VC Zane Duursma already impressed in first qtr. Beautiful goal showed his class. De Mattia good in close with contested footy. Joel Freijah on the wing showing good skills and ball winning Allies Jake Rogers small but powerful onballer is impressive again Ryley Sanders class and pace on show Caiden Cleary very good onballer winning lots of the footy Dees young academy (South Alice Springs) Orlando Turner is a forward pocket player and kicked a nice goal from 35 metres out albeit after a dubious free kick Lots of Swans, Giants, Lions Ana Suns Academy youngsters in show Harley Reid strangely again being played at full forward Jed Walter always looks dangerous with height, strength and pace at full forward. Suns can get rid of Ben King and bring this kid in.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
Injuries. Fritsch. Hibbo. Clarry. Doubtful. Petty. Worries. Brown couldn’t move in 2nd half and was basically walking in the last quarter. (JVR to replace) Form. Kozzzy. Is there other concerns? Looking disinterested or not moving to win the footy. Happy to do a chase and tackle. Is this the same player from round 1 this year. He’ll stay in but is a worry. He need his goal scoring and excitement to create opportunities. Spargo. Goodys love child so he’s staying in. Little to commend with or without the footy. Woey jnr looked ok so he’s got another week. Loved his run and nearly gold in the last quarter. Changes? maybe only maybe JVR for BBB or Tomlinson for Petty if he’s injured

Petracca’s goalkicking
Loved his kick in the last minute. Simple easy run in and kicked through it. Three from three for shots. Other goal was running into goalsquare for goal.
- Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown

POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs St Kilda
Goodys presser - Saints well coached and good defensive side - Efficiency was the difference in the game - Trac Brown and Melksham experience and worked well but not perfect - Trac plays key role in finding avenues to goal . Getting inside 50 in past weeks was ok but needed to hit scoreboard and Trac provided that - Importantly more midfield time for sparrow and jordon - Challenging conditions last few weeks and Choco will be happy with goalkicking tonight fairly ho hum presser

Targets 2023
Watched some of Hawks v Giants in VFL. Lachlan Bramble - fast running utility half back. Pace is an huge asset. Like his direct run and carry. One to watch if hawks don’t see him as important going forward.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Beg, borrow, steal. Do whatever we need to do to get a high enough pick to get Ryley Sanders. Best young mid in this years draft imv. Recent comparisons to JHF but I think he’s quicker and better !!!

Garry Lyon analysis
You want answers. You want the truth. here’s some solutions to start 1- forwards must lead and farrkkkn DEMAND the footy not hang back and wait for the up and under bomb 2- use your preferred/correct foot too many times, players have time and space and yet choose to use their “non preferred” foot to kick - and often it’s a turnover or error. Names ? yes you kozzzzy, yes you ANB, yes you Harmesy. Steady and hit the target. 3- lower your eyes with entries inside 50. Don’t bomb it long all the time. Sure under pressure you do have to but we are not always under pressure and sometimes actually kick to space to make forwards run to the footy !!! Not just to stationary players waving their arms like drowning swimmers 4- Forwards, get in front. It’s an old saying but it works. Haynes from the giants owned the intercepts as kicks fell short and our forwards were constantly behind 5- Kozzzy stop going for the spectacular mark. The last 17 haven’t worked so don’t compete in the big pack marks. Front and centre or get out the back. Not to the side. Watch the crumbers like Greene, Cameron and Papley. I was only a humble suburban footballer and not an expert like Lyon, Brown or Brereton. But through the ages, footy can be a simple game with simple strategies.
