Interesting phantom draft. Owens comes under the Saints NGA allocations. They’d be majorly [censored]-off if MFC grabbed him at “19”. (Saints fans still can’t believe they missed on Petracca). Owens plays like Jake Stringer from my view. An agile forward (190cm) who could rotate through stints in the midfield. He’s a good player, through strong aerial skills and is good in the contest. I thought he’d be mid 2nd round (25-35 range) but given he wins strong contested footy, he may appeal to our 🏆JT⭐️.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
it’s a good read. Shifter is a legend in analysis of youngsters and of the draft going back probably 25+ years now. Some notable call outs Finn Callaghan. Player comparison the Bont Neil Erasmus. Player comparison Christian Petracca. yes I can see it but it’s a huge call. Loved that Shifter has referenced lots of Dees players in his player comparisons. Erasmus >Petracca. Gibcus> Lever. Bazzo > May. Cooper Hamilton > Rivers. Andrew > Dogga. Sinn > Salem. Sheldrick > Viney. -
Simon Goodwin on RSN (19/11/21)
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just bumping the thread to bring it back up the board and hope DL posters can enjoy listening to it on a relaxing Sunday. I listened whilst enjoying a coffee this morning and enjoyed the whole 30 minutes. Thanks Demonland for bringing it to us. Really enjoyed listening to Goodys journey from his Day 1 and building relationships with the players and with the club. Great insights to the man and the coaching role. Learnings. New ideas. Fulfillment. His Mentors. Team culture. Leadership. Ownership by the players. Love the openness and more relaxed style in Goody’s conversation. Obviously he’s feeling more content after season 2021 and is definitely in a “happy place”. Love it that Goody recognised the pain and the raw emotions of the long suffering Dees supporters, and how the premiership has brought such happiness and joy to all Demon members and supporters. Recruitment. Goodys echoes what we hear about the MFC (JT) drafting philosophy. High character and competitive nature … willing to compete every day. Thank you Goody. Thank you MFC. We are Proud to Belong. Absolutely!!! -
Grand Final Celebration at the G
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Really looking forward to finally hearing “Goody’s GF winning coachs speech”. Given he now can really have more time (then the usual 90 seconds post the GF), I’m looking forward to how he has built the team culture and how it all clicked in 2021. -
Melbourne and the 2021 National Draft
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/how-your-club-stands-ahead-of-the-2021-draft-20211118-p59a1f.html thanks WJ. I was just reading this on The Age website. Good team summary and write up. Journalists seem to have correctly classified our players and shown we have good depth and stars across all areas. Agree that youngsters like Howes and Chesser would be excellent additions as Demonlanders have added. A young development key forward like WA’s Jack Williams could be an option with the pick “37” as it currently stands as the Dees have plenty of time to put into development. -
Thank you @BDA Great scenes as Jack Viney shows his Demons great dad the premiership cup I saw this on Twitter under the Melbourne Footy club Twitter posts - which was from “ The Demons Premiership Cup 🏆” it’s great fun seeing Dees fanatics reactions !!❤️💙

I love the commitment to the MFC. 🤣❤️💙🏆

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’ve clocked over watching this 45 minutes at least 20 times now. It is most amazing footy ever produced by a MFC team in my lifetime. And in such a sensational way in the biggest game of the year. 🏆❤️💙 -
POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. It was of course BT. He loves the theatrics. Hodgey is very good. Daisy Pearce ❤️ is absolutely the best special comments and gives insightful commentary. -
Hopefully we get Jaguar back in board. Supported us before we were premiers. Though I’m sure the sponsorship $$ have risen by at least 20% for 2022. we are the Premiership team. Lots of exposure. Lots of merchandise.

It’s very disappointing. I ordered off the AFL store on 28 September and again on 5 October. Nothing has appeared after more than 7 weeks. FFS.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
53 seconds to go in the third quarter - Petracca kicks the amazing bending inverted banana goal from the boundary forward pocket. I’ve watched it 20-25 times now and it just amazes me. Trac is a champion 🏆❤️💙 Quick quiz - who said this … “He’s kicked a Dusty goal early He’s kicked a Daicos goal late And if you cross Dusty and Daics, you get Petracca” -
Bayley Fritsch 5-year deal
spirit of norm smith replied to Graeme Yeats' Mullet's topic in Melbourne Demons
Love it ❤️💙🏆 He’s making the number “31” be famous all over again. -
He will crunch a few. Loved his attack on the footy and the tackle. His body just let him down.
-
Agree. He’s a talent. Very good mark, skills and second efforts make him versatile across midfield and the forward 50. Was hoping Howes would somehow slip down to the Dees in the second round but think he will be around the 18-25 draft pick.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
https://www.afl.com.au/news/688134/kevin-sheehan-reveals-his-top-nab-afl-draft-prospects-medium-tall-midfielders Some absolute guns within this group. Horne-Francis, Daicos, Callaghan & Hobbs. Chesser is probably one in the frame for the Dees 1st pick. Connor Macdonald is another impressive midfielder with versatility and might go earlier than expected. -
Agree. The success rate within the top 30 picks has been the sweet spot. Trading of players and picks has worked to try to get two and three picks within that range . JT has nailed these with stars within the “top 10” and then backed up with successful 2nd rounders.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/687290/cal-twomey-s-phantom-form-guide-top-draft-prospects-november-ranking interesting reading through how players have shifted through the year Jacob Van Rooyen certainly presents as a very good option with his athleticism and ability to play forward or back. MFC can give him and other youngsters the time to develop and not be rushed like we did with other draftees. The luxury of a strong list helps us bring along youngsters at the right pace. Of course having Choco on board is a big bonus ❤️💙🏆

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes either Draper or Sonsie as 1st round sliders would be very good additions for MFC. Versatile midfield or half forward types. Phantom feasibility is given each have been injured in 2021 and had reduced testing exposure, it’s possible they drift down to possibly be available. I thought we’d only have 4 picks including matching and including Woey junior
