Yes there’s a few $$$ splashing around in Qld AFL for young blokes. Not a bad move given Casey CANNOT GUARANTEE HIM ANY GAME TIME. It’s frustrating for blokes and they seek games at Frankston etc that are not aligned or go interstate.

Hello 2022 Third & Fourth Round Selections
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. JT is a draft strategy zen master. Gets us two great youngsters and then back into 2022 for future drafting strategy and moves. He just nailed it AGAIN. -

It’s Shifter Spotlight. Maybe go through the picks then let him do a post review. Young blokes must be so anxious. -

I think Dees will be in the phone looking to package up to get a 31-32 draft pick or also considering trading out pick 42 to get a future 2022 pick -
MFC now look to have picks 38 and 42 albeit this is amended up and down by potential NGAs and zoning or even we might package up to get to pick 31 off the Eagles potentially or the Cats pick 32. Certainly some bargain sliders available in Johnson, Howes, Butler, Sonsie, Draper or Goater. Then there is the predicted 2nd round core group of Knevitt, Conway, Zac Taylor & Bazzo. NGAs and zoning inclusions likely to be matched include Motlop, Owens, Windhager and Fahey. That could stretch out the round. who might be available… Hopefully (but unlikely) Connor Macdonald slides down to our next pick or we package up to get him earlier up the board. He’s a good running outside mid and would be a handy addition. Others in the frame could be midfielder Corey Warner for his strong competitor nature or half fwd Judson Clarke for his goalkicking and pace. Wagner would add to our East Freo connection. Indeed JT might have a Smokey in the pack. It’s unlikely to be another key back or forward but you never know. pick 42 - if don’t package or trade it out into 2022, could be used on Charlie Molan (competitor, wing half back type) Lewis Rayson (skilled left foot mid-defender) or Isaac Birt (goalkicking wingman).

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen

Graeme Molloy. Wow. That’s going back. Probably Watts comparison not quite right. Perhaps a young Neitz 🤞type (as good forward as back) or as a modern comparison perhaps he’s similar to Oscar Allen at the Eagles. I agree his versatility and ability in the air and on the ground is a good blend and we can give him time to develop. Another strategic JT pick 👍🏻 -
SELECT Premiership cards. Ordered 6/oct. amazingly got text yesterday to say they are packed and for delivery 29/ nov 🤞 I had forgotten that I’d ordered them !!!!!

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some sliders past round 1 - Johnson, Howes, Sonsie, Butler, Draper and Goater. Some bargains there. Predicted 2nd rounders like Zac Taylor, Bazzo, Knevitt and Conway should also go in the next round by the early-mid 30s. Hopefully (but at long odds) Connor Macdonald falls to our next pick. Highly skilled running midfielder would be another great addition. -

Back in JT. He knows we will need to develop another young tall, probably in the current Tmac role. Hope we get to hear from the great man on the selection. -

Welcome aboard JVR. We can give him the time to develop without rushing him in. -
Welcome to Demonland: Blake Howes
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
A lot of the media write ups have “Jack Gunston” as his player comparison. He seems to be a very good mark and loves a goal. Howes seems more agile as well and can play anywhere across the lines. Would be a very good addition if he was the chosen one. -
Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
spirit of norm smith replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dees landed the 2021 1st round pick from the Dogs, as part of the mega trade between Dees, Dogs, Crows and Saints. With Crows getting MFC 1st round 2022 pick. So we get into the first round with pick 17, wisely mooted as pick 19 given the Darcy and Daicos bids. Once again the Dees have invested in a buy-now-pay-later trade. We had benefitted previously from this to get Weideman, Pickett and Bowey from such earlier deals. It now means we are into the frame to get another young gun into the club. It might be a slider like Sinn, Sonsie or Goater. Or through media predictions likely a Howes, Chesser, Wilmot, or Brown. Or Van-Rooyen as a flexible future key fwd/defender. Or Mitch Knevitt as a prototype tall midfielder. Or even conduct a Stk NGA steal of Mitchito Owens is another potential option. JT will have lots of strategies and names. His preparation is undoubtedly one of the best (if not the very best ) in the league. He may even try further magic and trade up the board with another gun in his sights. Whatever the outcome, it should be the start of an AFL journey for a young player and and an exciting night for him and his family and friends. Certainly the Dees have become a preferred club now and we boast an excellent development setup headed by Yze and Choco, to help youngsters realise their dreams. JT 🏆⭐️ has been one of the keys behind the Dees success and we can trust in his decisions and strategies. -

Melbourne and the 2021 National Draft
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks. He’s very open and we are in good hands. Trying to think what are the “needs”. We look strong across all lines. As DL posters have discussed, it could be another young Key Foreward (like a JVR in 1st round or Jack Williams in 2nd round if they are available). Or it could be to add another mid sized defender with run such as Chesser, Brown or Wilmot. In #JT we trust 🏆❤️💙 -
Cal predicts its MFC choosing Blake Howes at 19. Definitely 👍🏻🤞 He also notes Brown, Chesser, Wilmot as options - all good running half back defenders and either would be a good addition. Whoever we pick , they are going to be very happy. Dees have a very good development program now and great club culture, so lots of youngsters will be hoping to land in the red and blue. It’s going to be an exciting week for 50-60 young men in their quest to play in the AFL.

Correct they “missed” him. Like being offered a share of Winx as a yearling and saying no.
