  2. @Demonlandhappy to combine this with the report card thread. Can leave this thread title or move this to the other thread.
  3. Who arrived: Harry Sharp, Tom Campbell Who left: Alex Neal-Bullen 2024 Telstra AFL Draft picks: 5, 9 Future picks: Brisbane and Melbourne swapped their future third-round selections in the Harry Sharp trade. Melbourne parted ways with the third-round pick it obtained from Essendon on Monday as part of the pick swap that netted it pick No.9 in this year's draft, and received Brisbane's 2025 selection in return. AFL website journalists summary: Melbourne farewelled just the one player this trade period, with Alex Neal-Bullen heading to Adelaide on the opening day. The Demons managed to add two fresh faces that will give them important depth heading into next season, with speedy winger Harry Sharp crossing from Brisbane and journeyman ruck Tom Campbell joining the ranks to provide valuable back-up to Max Gawn. But more importantly for the Demons, they acquired another top-10 pick to take into this year's stacked draft. Melbourne now holds pick No.9 (from Essendon) and their own pick No.5 in November's draft ———————————— My footnote … The filth got Houston for a trade bargain. Dees should be wondering WTF !!! https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/houston-we-have-lift-off-collingwood-all-in-on-flag-tilt-after-landing-all-australian-20241015-p5kigq.html

  6. @58er”Would love to give JT a free throw at the stumps in a Round 4,5 or 6 for a genuine diamond in the rough!! “ I agree. With picks being used in all the father son and academies picks, we might see the last round being again around 60-65. That’s where I’d like to see the Dees give an opportunity to at least one more youngster (as well as to 5&9). There’s talent right through this draft. Here’s 10 late draft pick options Will Hayes. Mid. Claremont. Gabriel Stumpf CHF . Northern Patrick Retschko. Hbf/mid. Oakleigh Oliver Depaoli-Kubank. Running mid. Tassie. Noah Mraz. CHB. Dandenong. Luke Kennedy . Mid. Sandringham Cody Angove. Running mid. WA Claremont Kade Herbert. Mid/hff. SA WWT eagles Oliver Warburton. Hbf. Murray Jett Hasting. Hbf. SA WWT eagles
  7. Did we jump on 9 too early … tigers might have been willing to trade 10 or 11 for MFC 2025 future 1st and say 28 … then Dees could have packaged up 40, 46,54,65 to Lions 27 or suns 29 to give them extra points! Water under the bridge
  8. This is a toss up for me. Parfitt is 26yo, 130 games in 7 years at the Cattery. Was part of their best 22 this year until round 11, then was dropped and only returned for one match before again being dropped. Not sure where he sits. He’s above avg/elite at tackles and clearances. Lower rated on other ratings like disposals volume and marks. Is he still keen to play? Always looked nearly ready to be very good but didn’t quite. Comments on him on Cats socials and their website https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/marking-his-territory-how-brandon-parfitt-found-his-place-in-cats-midfield-20240514-p5jdmx.html A premiership player a load of talent but just has lost some confidence and fitness at times in his career. Parfitt struggled for regular senior opportunities, playing more than 20 games in a season just twice – in 2019 and 2021 – finishing his Geelong career with 130 appearances. he will get a deal somewhere, jermaine jones and nakia cocatoo got got a chance somewhere else and I think parfitt is better stuck behind Atkins and cats preferred Clark or Bruhn as additional 4th midfielder I think he's afl standard as your 3rd or 4th best mid but we have too many similar Parfitt is better then atkins. Better tackler and better offensively. He is far from the player he was 3 years ago. Back then he was on the verge of becoming a consistent high 20s possession midfielder with a high tackling count and line breaking abilities. Parfitt has some ability. Just totally lost all confidence and should be delisted at the end of the year. In my view, I’d back Matty Whelan to have a chat to see where Parfitt is at. Would a one year deal be sufficient? He’s free so adds depth without costing anything. But there’s options as late draft pick youngsters who could also appeal and take up a list spot. Maybe he’s a train on option for the summer if available.
  9. Leppitsch … On Melbourne defender Adam Tomlinson “He’s in that mix because we want some experience in that final (list) position. “We’ll meet on that tomorrow and make some decisions with which way we want to go on that.”
  10. Assume Tomlinson is departs. Asdume js29 departs. Assume Hore gets another year as a rookie. Assume McVee and AMW promoted to main list. 37 listed. Add Campbell, Sharp, 5&9. That’s only 41. Plenty of room for three further additions of DFA or draft or SSP additions (plus add Ricky Mentha as Cat B rookie).
  11. I think Lamb has announced our intention. Tomlinson has not been offered a contract for 2025 and we are happy that he “gets an opportunity elsewhere”. There will be no trade. IMV clubs won’t sign him as a UFA but wait for the likely delistings, and sign as a Delisted Free Agent.
  12. Clarry is staying
  13. Freo overpaid for Bolton. A flashy player but he’s no star. Effectively Freo gave up 2 x first round picks for him. Wow. Tigers are Big Winners from this !!!
  14. Tall forwards … JVR, Petty, Turner, Fullarton, Jefferson, Kentfield Smart forwards… Fritsch, McAdam, Sestan Small forwards… Pickett, Chandler, Spargo (Kolt) (Laurie) that’s enough admittedly Petty should play CHB but fills in at CHF admittedly Turner is a forward or a defender admittedly JVR yet to fully grab the footy but he’s still young admittedly Jefferson shows signs but the ghosts of Weideman remain
  15. Pies are laughing !!! Port talked a tough stance. “2x FIRST round picks only !!” ”He’s contracted for 3 more years” ”Happy to stay if no deal” ”not taking that deal” then it’s fine and done next day Port are clowns effectively given up Houston for 13 (16) and 29 (34) - yes middle/late 1st round and middle 2nd round pick. Wow. effectively traded away future 1st round for Lukosius. effectively given up Houston to a competitive premiership opponent Helped Suns offload $1.3m off their salary books by taking Lukosius and Atkins who often weren’t in their best 22.
  16. Sharp is more likely to play half forward and replace ANB as a hard working up and back type role. His endurance and good pace should allow him to slot in for round 1 2025.
  17. Great news…welcome aboard Harry 👏👏👏 He’s the type of player needed and type of trade (22yo, 4 years in system) that can come in straight away and still improve and improve. Elite endurance. Run and carry and kick type of player. Can play the ANB type role. Been behind some high quality players at Lions. Move to the Dees should give him the opportunities he needs.
  18. Lions. Come on. It’s a fair deal. 49 for Sharp and 66. Gets them extra points. They don’t need Sharp. He’s stuck behind too many. He will get a fair run with MFC. Moves into our best 25 straight up in my view. Fits the high half forward role vacated by ANB.
  19. Lalor or Langford at 5. Lindsay or Travaglia at 9. The options here bring in two high quality youngsters. With Kolt and Windsor from 2023, it’s the “Rebuild on the run”. Now we pray for Jefferson over the summer 🤞🤞🤞🤞… gets some aggro pills and puts in a huge preseason in the gym & on the track.
  20. Pies get their man ffs
  21. Dees likely to get Houston Dees turmoil and Houston likely to stay at Port Houston back in the market Pies do the deal to win the dual All Australian Pies salary cap just keeps on getting bigger and bigger I really really hate the Pies … so much more if that’s even possible.
  22. “We're still working through that. They're working through what they require in terms of points with their academy players. We're hopeful of bringing Harry in." - Tim Lamb on Harry Sharp Lamb was really bullish on Sharp given he is a high end endurance footballer. Holds the 2km combine time trial record 5m28secs by 20 seconds!! Other comments addressed that Sharp can play wing or half forward, and fills a need given Nibblers departure and Hunter retirement. He is a in a strong footy club but behind good players in Lions setup. Lamb was hopeful. I think pick 49 is fair (hope we can get Sharp and pick 66 back but it’s academic if Lions hold off). Lions working through their pick points accumulated to get Ashcroft & Marshall.
  23. "I think that is looking fairly unlikely. We have thrown a few scenarios at the Giants. We'd like to bring Wade (Derksen) to the club but it will be difficult to sort out." - Tim Lamb, Melbourne List Manager
  24. Ouch. I’d say more Josh Kelly like… and we don’t have one of him.
  25. It will be interesting. Smillie is now the wildcard pick given he’s slipped down most of the media predictions for top 5. Was certainly equal 1st with Jagga Smith as the start of the year. As I put in another thread, he’s defensive side got exposed at the championships and he didn’t show his true capabilities. But he has very good skills, wins contested footy, kicks goals, kicks it 50-60 easily and has that 5-10 metre burst needed in the midfield. He could be an absolute elite player. At 194cms, he’s a “Cripps” like type of player.
