That’s the exact point. You can’t say we WANT this, and cave in at a lesser deal. Trac has a 4 year contract to run. Sure he has explored his options but a deal HAS to suit MFC! This is beyond just this trade. It’s about setting the standard and not buckling.

It could be ironic if the Dees did trade Trac out and then could use one of the two picks to grab a kid from the Suns academy. Beau Addinsall. Plays like … Lachie Neale. Skill. Smarts. Run. I like his creative handball and composure with the footy. He’d get into our MFC best 22 as a rotating mid sometime in the 2026 season. Actually he’d be wasted to go the Suns given their midfield depth and continued academy products coming through.

If Dees got pick “7&8” (for Trac), Josh Lindsay would have to be one of the target group of young guns for the MFC. It’s crazy that 12 months ago, he was spoken about as one of the three likely “number 1” in the 2025 draft. Yet now many pundits are putting him between 11-15. Like other posters here, I’d be sad to see Trac go, but getting in young guys like Josh Lindsay would be a huge boost as we rebuild the midfield and add skilled users of the footy. His strengths - Elite kick , run & carry, leadership. ⭐️ Here’s one recent bio Lindsay is a very skilfull playmaker with a kicking weapon who has shown he can stand up in big games. The Geelong Falcons product's elite kicking was on show in his two medal-winning performances — one as a wingman in the under-17 Futures game last September and the second in defence in the second AFL Academy game against Coburg in April. Lindsay was also an All-Australian at the national championships as Vic Country’s captain and designated kicker out of defence, with his ball-use, run and carry and composure standing out. The Newtown & Chilwell prospect has played most of his pathways football as a distributing defender, but also pushed into the midfield this season with the Geelong Falcons and Geelong Grammar and was able to impact. He was named across half back in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year. Lindsay looks up to Errol Gulden, who he draws similarities to with his left boot, and Scott Pendlebury.

@Whispering_Jack MFC 7&8 hypothetical would be picks 11&12 given Uwland, Paterson, Annable & Dean as nominated priority players. So unlikely to get Robey and Xavier Taylor. But young guns like (Josh) Lindsay, Farrow, Addinsall and Dovaston as options. Lindsay was potentially a number 1 pick 12 months ago. He’s a star. He’s delivery is elite. He’s smart. He’s sidestep is also excellent.
