The Steven May appreciation thread
He did a huge job. Huge. Curnow to zero goals. We love you Maysey. Let down by so many “forward of Centre”

Yet another wasted season?
Yes 2017, 2019, 2020 were wasted hope 2018 over enthusiastic optimism. Hope. 2021 pure ecstasy and glory 🏆🏆🏆 2022 and 2023 a great team. Talent. Once in a generation ruckman. But two horrible finals campaigns. 0-4. First time back to back straight set exits. Dominated games. Could not kick goals. Wasted? yes

Ashton Moir
This would be a huge gamble. High risk. High reward. Remember Jack Darling. Somehow clubs were scared to pick him. A risk? Wow. I’d love to have drafted him all those years ago. Moir is a huge talent. Injury and supposedly work ethic questioned. Hmmm sounds like Darling. Moir has to be still strongly considered. He’s a good mover. A good mark. A proven goalkicker. Left foot. Right foot. Lots of work to do to get to know the kid. Is he really keen on footy? I mean lives it. If not, you’d question talent being enough. Plenty of huge talent don’t have to drive to succeed. Would be a risk but a huge reward if he can combine talent and hard work.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Agreed. It was a huge risk - reward. It was over hyped imv and not managed at all. Gawn was your All Australian ruck and we somehow thought he needed more time in forward 50 to play 50% in the ruck. WTF. Sure we needed some backup ruck in case Gawn was injured who could be forward/ruck role. Grundy was never that.

Cool light of day
Agreed. That’s why it hurts. That’s why close is not good enough. That’s why we don’t understand Goody extended from 2024 to end 2026. Why??

Cool light of day
We’ve known we’ve got forward half connection problems for 7 years. I’m sick of learnings. In the normal world, Goodwin would not have had his contract expended. This lack of fixing the problem is now catastrophic after 2022 and 2023. It hurts.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
I hate Barrett. Because he hates Melbourne. Clearly. He reckons this is what Brayshaw should have done. Ffs. I hate Barrett. Ffs. I hate Barrett.

Final words as per The Castle And can I just say how disenchanted I am with the (tribunal) legal system

Maynard must get at least four weeks
player in blue apparently stepped into path of the defender !!! player in white said it was a flinch and not voluntary at all and had no option with contact being accidental !!!! I am still angry

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Logan Morris is a very special player imv … best available key forward in the draft playing style? Think Nick Larkey type Good lead Good mark Good kick Solidly built Dees /JT unlikely to consider given we have JVR Jefferson and converting Petty to a key forward. If we’d not picked Jefferson last year, I’d be putting Morris on the top 6-7 players on JTs list

Salem Thyroid Concern
Salem. 27 possessions. 22 kicks. 5 handballs. 96% disposal efficiency. Repeat. 96% disposal efficiency. 8 score involvements. 7 marks. 7 tackles. 1 goal as a half back. I should have rephrased as “ I thought he was our 2nd best player behind Trac in the 21GF. “. Yes Fritsch and Clarry also starred.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Point 7 of why it’s the wrong decision I believe the biomechanist's whole argument is wrong. He's isolated the half second after Maynard left the ground, but he’s forgetting the entire leadup and leap forward by X Metres Brayshaw barely deviates half a metre , he's essentially run in a straight line for 20m before kicking the ball. That entire run constitutes the time that is Maynard's decision making time. Not sure the AFL Prosecutor Woods has ever argued a case. He failed to land a point.

The Chair of the Tribunal, Jeff Gleeson, is a Collingwood supporter. How about excusing yourself from this decision because of a conflict of interest ?

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Definitely two preliminary finals this weekend will showcase lots of likely draftees talent at Devils and Dragons to watch in particular. I expect Charlie Edwards to be one of the key players in Dragons midfield alongside Ryley Sanders.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Interested to see Charlie Edwards rise up into Cal’s listing. He’s at Melbourne Grammar and got better and better as the year progressed. His last few games at Sandy Dragons were hugely impressive. The dragons are a breeding ground for quality Mids. If the Dees have a second round pick around the 22-25 range, he would be hopefully on JTs list. 190cms. Strong. Good pace. Inside or outside. Skills. Can kick 45+ metres. I’m putting him into JTs list.

PREGAME: SF vs Carlton
I’m completely confused 1- Hibbo OUT ???! Omitted. wtf. One of our best last week. I’m confused. 2- No Grundy ??!?!?! Wtf our ruck is under an injury cloud. he’s probably packed his bags already. Goodys trial failed and he’s on the outer (on a plane bound for Sydney town) 3-???? Spargo IN Wtf. 🤯🤯He’s had a poor year and very average at Casey. Goodys lovechild rises again. 4- Tomlinson?? IN. Forward or back ??? Maybe he’s the new forward option 🤯🤯 No Petty. No Melksham. No Brayshaw. No JVR. Weakest team in 2023 my changes. In. JJ. Grundy. outs. JVR Brayshaw

McVee & Laurie vs Baker
Just wish Blake Howes was fit and ready to go. He was developing and looked like he would be a good option in the last 1/2 of the year. Not to be.
