  1. Exactly, that too. He's a guy who knows how a footy club should work.I don't have foxtel so I don't really know about the 'branding' part. I just hope he has seen it as a way to make a living whilst not being directly involved in footy at a club level.
  2. For mine, it's pretty simple. He doesn't want some ridiculous bells and whistles "I am the messiah" thing at the b + f. He just wants to come in and coach a football club that wins games, and in doing so, establishes a culture of excellence.
  3. I think we were found guilty of 'not tanking'.
  4. He did make it VERY clear that we would be employing an experienced coach, so at least Burns and the rest know they won't be considered.
  5. I agree, I wasn't having a go, it's just sad that we would consider either of them as a realistic part of our future. Magner's handling in the second part of the year has been quite perplexing. The fact that he didn't get a call-up when Viney went down, or even come in to give M. Jones a rest when the latter has clearly been a bit flat makes his continued non-selection hardly a surprise. Roll on 2014, I suppose. ..
  6. Apparently Paul Little just described it as "reprehensible", or on second thought, he may have been talking about something else.
  7. Was very well supported first time 'round (despite what some on DL "think"), buggered up and then still gave us the shaft. No. No. And no.
  8. Although Damien is a massive attention-seeking [censored] with a great head for radio, I get the "woe is me" part. This club, and playing list, need to grow some proverbials and get on with it, priority pick or not. It's time for some old fashioned backs to the wall, us against them mentality. Then our success will be so much sweeter. No more Jack Watts "I need others to show me the way", and more Jack Viney "only I can get us through this". btw, congrats on Rising Star nomination, boy. If it wasn't already apparent to some, you're a keeper.
  9. I thought the head coach chose his assistants...
  10. and that's where you stop reading...
  11. Nah, three time premiership captain, Brownlow medalist, and one of the hardest and most respected midfielders of his era.Good try though.
  12. Trengove's sling on Dangerfield. Didn't work out so well...
  13. A football field overlaid with two soccer pitches? Why stop there? Let's see if we can get lacrosse and polo fields, as well as an archery range in there too. Ugh...
  14. No disrepect, but what a [censored].
  15. I suppose the issue is that we went after Clark as a forward who can ruck. If he can't ruck it will certainly change the structure of the forward line. Unless Hogan part-times in the ruck (I don't think this will be the case), it will be difficult to see how Clark, Dawes and Hogan fit into the same forward line.
  16. Yes, Fitzpatrick is doing well at the moment, but do you think he would be kicking as many goals with Clark in the forward line too? Also, will he be selected ahead of Clark and Hogan next year? Obviously not in Clark's case, and as I've stated previously, only if Hogan doesn't come on as we hope. If Hogan takes some time to adjust, Fitzpatrick may see game time early in the season.
  17. Next year I see Fitzpatrick as our back-up tall if all of Clark, Dawes and Hogan are fit, and the latter comes on as expected. He will also share ruck duties with Clark if Gawn and Jamar are injured. All possibilities raised in this thread remain flexible and are dependent on fitness and development. It amuses me that many posters get so caught up in their opinions that they somehow presume that their view WILL be the truth.
  18. And yet, other times, a bloke can receive the ball and be tackled immediately, but if his arm is pinned, he's holding the ball. Go figure.
  19. I've been thinking about the ruck situation for a while now and wouldn't be surprised to see Spencer moved on, for the right price of course, at the end of the year. As much as we all bemoan Jamar's inability to have an impact in general play, he will be important back-up for when Gawn is injured, and is contracted for two more years. This is obviously reliant on the new coach seeing Jamar's contract out. If both these two are unavailable, Fitzpatrick comes into the team and shares ruck duties with Clark. Fitzpatrick will also play if one of Clark, Dawes or Hogan is unavailable. He will be playing for Casey otherwise, not running around on the wing. Gillies goes, Pedersen stays (again based on his contract), the fate of Davis and Sellar will be decided on the balance of the list.
