  1. There are some real clowns on this board at times. I/Most of us have been saying all year players like Moloney have no long term future at Melbourne and calls for Neeld and the footy department to move them on at season end. That os going to happen now some people are getting stuck into Neeld because they have done/doing so? If we want to be a top notch club we have got to start and make some tough decisions on players that dont fit the modern day footy mould. Moloney's modern game of bash and crash packs, no speed and just bang it long and hope for the best and no defensive pressure wont help us win games. Moloney will be lucky to get a regular game next year maybe might get more of a go at Port but even then i struggle to see lots of game time for him. I thank Moloney for his efforts over the last 8 years but its time to move on. We need mids that have big engines, fast can spread and can also pin point and hit targets by foot.
  2. oops swap martin for jones
  3. If operation Cloke falls through id like us to target this guy. He can take a strong over head mark and normally a good kick for goal, seems to be out of favour at the Roos because of Petrie/Hansen. if i had it my way next years team would look someting like this: B: Tapscott, Frawley, Mcdonald HB: Rivers, Garland, Grimes C: Knights Viney Trengove HF: Howe, Cloke/Edwards, Blease F: Sylvia, Clark, Byrnes Foll: Jamar, Caddy, Toumpas Intr: Watts, Garlett, Martin, Mckenzie.
  4. I'd take him 1 player will never change your fortunes but vast majority of left footers are quality kicks, Hawthorn have an abundance of them. Knights has speed too and he would cost a massive amount of coin either
  5. Anything to report aside from the tanking issue Mclardy touched on?
  6. Up and coming dinner more so aimed at funds for high profile recruits. Anyone going or know of anyone going? I would love to go but im only a tradie who could giving a small amount lol?
  7. In the past i have written something similar. I personally have had a gutful of the painful performances/recruiting in the last 5 years. I want to start going to the football to watch the Dees win instead of looking towards seasons end and recruiting. I want my kids to grow up being passionate dees and watching there heros strut there stuff. But here is how i see our current situation/ rabble if you like to call it. MARK NEELD- Neeldy has come from a very successful background both from Collingwoods greatness in recent years and at levels below AFL and he knows what it takes to be a top football team. He is very clear in what game style he wants our players to play with being open to tweaking it here and there to suit. People/doomsayers saying the gameplan is dated either have rocks in there head or dont know alot about footy. If you go on that theory Hardwicks gameplan ala Hawthorn of 2008 is outdated..... Longmuire of Sydney ala Paul Roos 2005....... therefore Collingwood of 2010? Gameplans change all the time. Neeldy before being appointed coach only foccussed on melbourne once a year as an opposition assistant coach, now im sure he has a fair idea of who he thinks has it who doesn't and who he will move on. Just like what Hardwick did at the end of 2010 as his first season as coach. LEADERSHIP- We have 2 of the youngest captains in AFL/VFL history although on current form have been struggling will in time be great for our club. However our senior players needed this season to give the pair of Jacks some much needed guidence in which they have failed badly. Brent Moloney in 2011 was getiing 30 touches nearly every week and was rated a top midfielder in the comp. 2012 he has hardly touched it and looks down the barrel of maybe being unemployed. MIDFIELD- With out doubt we have the worst midfield in the comp. No skill Pace or depth on our list. For instance Richmond have elite players in Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Foley and good serviceable players in Houli, Grigg, Mullet Maric, Nahas and Morris. We on the other hand only really have Jones, Trengove, Blease as decent mids the rest ??????????. You wont win many games with out speed and quality in the midfield. simple. RECRUITING- It frustrates and pisses me off to se players like Martin, Dangerfield, Rioli, Sidebottom, Beams etc that were taken after our picks being successful. We dont like it but now we have to deal with it. That is why this years draft/ free agency/ trade period is vital that we can hopefully bring in a mixture of exciting talent and some much needed serviceable experience to the list. Listen to Mark Neeld on the coaches office on the melbourne website he states that we currentley dont have enough experienced players that can sustain 4 full quaters of footy. David Schwarz on SEN said Dees will be really agressive at seasons end in terms of recruitment. Hope so. TRAVIS CLOKE- I have no dramas of Melbourne going after Travis Cloke, even though his kicking can be ordinary at times the guys is a gurellia who can take a strong grab. We need another forward who can help support Clark and we cant be too dependent on Clark either. If Cloke came to Melbourne at seasons end he and Clark would be our forwardline for nearly the next decade, just like Franklin/Roughead of Hawthorn.
  8. find it hard how Richmond could offer Cloke heaps of coin considering Riewoldt, Deledio, Cotchin, Martin would all be on big deals well atleast we could offer more! Same with Carlton?
  9. CHF what you have said has been said on bigfooty a bloke saying he works at Telstra with Connors bro but he indicate he will pick Carlton because of Malthouse possibly going there but ive also heard he is Close mates with Neeld and Brown. Only time will Tell.
  10. Would love the Dees to be Carlton too this if true, they snared Judd off us and they have always bought players in the past.
  11. Dont want to be Captin obvious but some of the facts: 1. Both Dees and freo have offered Cloke big contracts with Dees offering by far the most of any club someting like 1.1 over 6-7 years 2. Pies can only offer 4 with with about 800k max. 3. Carlton have shown interest but require Murphy, Judd, Kruzer, Robinson, Gibbs, Jamison all to take pay cuts to get him there! 4. If Cloke really never had any interest in the prospect of coming to the Dees he would of signed immediatley 5, There is still the possibilty of him staying with the Pies, but history tells who wants to have something like this hanging over your head? Ablett, Scully, Ward and co let it drag on until seasons end to inform the were leaving for $$ So im guessing he is seriously thinking about the MFC offer!!!! I would too
  12. Rumour going round cloke will go and will go to Carlton with malthouse on bigfooty don't think the can afford him really
  13. On the couch tonight Sheehan said cloke offered 1.1 for 7 years I think it's more like 6 and said by reckons pies offer is far from over
  14. I don't want a ruckman at pick 3 or 4 mids with those picks pick 12 viney
  15. Please don't not waste a high pick on talls. Our real problem is we have no elite mids. Do what you have to in Free Agency/Trade but please with our first 3 picks can we pick the best midfielders avaliable and help build a better engine room. It has been the problem all year long.
  16. Please no to Grundy at 3, we need mids with first 2 picks no doubt.
  17. Some of you guys must be on drugs!!!! Agree have a look at our ordinary list, we have no depth and our depth just isn't up to it. We have maybe 3 decent midfielders which puts us as the WORST midfield in the comp. Neelds hands are tied until season end when he and the club can make some big changes. I like many of us would love to get our handson both Craig Cameron and Barry Prendegast for this ordinary list they both have assembled. Players like Bail, Dunn,Bate,Morton,Bennell,Spencer. Malthouse, Roos and Sanderson couldn't do much with this mob. If Neeld coached the Crows he would be winning like they are now. Crows are good blokes like Thompson Dangerfield Walker Tippett etc.
  18. From my memory didn't Robert Walls and Leigh Matthews say we payed way too much for Clark........ Cloke is still number 1 in the comp for marks and if he is offered 5 or 6 years by the Dees it wouldn't faze me
  19. Would love Harry O'brien at the Dees love his dash of Half Back, would enable Grimes to Play more in the middle. Not sure whats happening with the Cloke saga if he definatley did not want to come to us he would of signed, i reckon they thinking hard about 6-7 year deal.
  20. Neeld an co wont waste time with mini draft we can't wait until 2014 until a supposed gun will come in. The time is now, if we can't get a Caddy, Boak, Beams then we need Wines Stringer and Viney. Its all about the midfield. I would rather a Shannon Byrnes Koby Stevens. Chapman is nearly done as is Hayes. We should also look at some of the opposition depth players like a Knights, Stevens, Byrnes, Reimers types. Our current depth players like Dunn, Morton, Bail, Bennell, Bate are either too slow or make too many turnovers which is really killing us.
  21. Neeld must really want cloke
  22. Whilst Magner has been pretty good this season he is just a player and eventually his services will no longer be required. I'd think about trading Morton for Koby Stevens
  23. Exactly i wouldn't be paying lots of coin for Goddard, he isn't overly that quick and tends to fade out of games ( although he is a good user of the pill we need both speed and skill) . Would Rather we pay for a Cloke Boak Caddy or Beams
  24. According to Brad Hardie, Cloke has now been offered 7 years by the dees. Didn't Mark Robinson say that Cloke would be signed at Collingwood by last Friday????? I'm thinking the Cloke saga may be far from over
  25. Not bad proposal in all i think. Both Beams and Wellingham are top mids who would add to our midfield. But in a perfect world would rather trade pick 3 for Boak and pick 4 for Beams with the addition of Viney. We cant afford to wait for players we people that are ready to go!!!!
