  1. sincere apology to everyone who read this. I had a few family friends at this holiday house and demonland was open. While i was outside some of the guys came on and posted stuff on here. I can understand that this was stupid to leave it open and will take appropriate courses of action in future to restrict this from happening again. Again sorry to all those who read it
  2. I agree with you in part but it wont happen that we get that many members. Each one helps however membership isnt the most important thing. Raffeling is a great idea and also giving $ for each game melbourne win, perhaps not so much this year. Last year i gave all my tax $ to melbourne which was around $1700 which is another idea. I have some other ideas that may prove useful 1. MFC could talk to a number of restaurants, cafes, pubs or bars about donating a portion of their sales to the club. MFC will promote the event and drive customers into the restaurant during what is normally a slow period for them. Perhaps players could get down there which would give possibly more of a support base. 2. Provide a sausage sizzle and fair including raffels at Casey with the players. An emphisys should be made on high margen profit like sausage sizzles, handburger stands, coffee, post mix soft drink etc. 3. Have the MFC raffle off the oportunity for some supporters to go to an event with players or staff. Perhaps the possibility of a guest having lunch with a couple of players and the coach will get huge $. I know i would pay a lot to have a private event 1 on 1 talking with them. 4. Raffle off chances for supporters to run onto the ground at matches with the players. I dont know if the afl, mcg etc would allow this but a thought. 5. Its not just down to supporters and the MFC are aware of this, especially since DB and CC. Things like footballs signed, clothing etc attract large amounts of $. Using ebay or equivilent and having the assistance of Garry Lyon on footy show and other media we can make people more aware. Players reading out a short script isnt enough when they get on. Garry needs to help us and make several reminders of actions throughout the broadcast. Now im sure the MFC are aware of things like this with the christmas carol but i do believe it needs to occur more and bids going or a couple of weeks. Trivia nights, fun sports events etc etc 6. Have supporter put the MFC in their will. I dont know if this is possible but im overseas at the moment. the time that i return i will be investigating this and adding the club if it is. 7. Attempt to sell more advertising space. 8. The MFC could set up a magaseen which is made up of pronominatly players information written by the players throughout the year on stuff on field and off. I for one love reading what players write themselves and the club could write it up once a month for x dollars per supporter. Calanders could also be sold at the start of the year with pictures and quotes from mfc persons. 9. What about melbourne designing a really funky hat or t-shirt thats bold. It could be sold for a cheap amount and supporters would be encoraged to buy it so that theres a unity, a bold standing, a message. Imagain behind the goals being filled with one item of clothing thats identical. Some would say we already have a gernsey but these are expensive and not everyone can afford them. What im trying to get at is that membership isnt the only solution. $ can come in all forms. Every dollar counts and yes the more the better but not everyone can afford to but a membership net alone 2. $5 here and $20 there doesent sound like much but its $5 or $20 closer than we would be if we didnt do anything. It also sends a clear message to everyone else. We are melbourne. We wont sit still and do nothing while the club burns. Media gets attached to this too. Channel 7 would have bought the fottage of the chrissy carol. Thats 1 of many innitatives we should be doing. And i appreciate that not all the above would work. The club also needs to concintrate on winning and cant always be supporter focused however players these days have a lot of spare time on there hands and this time of year is the best time to do things like this. BBQ's wont work during the season. lets do it now. a BBQ and trivia night with actioning would raise in my opinion possibly $8000. Sheez thats 50 memberships more. lets keep this great club alive or we wont get to see the exciting future unravel. It wont take long if we work toghether
  3. Well times have changed since the first few posts here. CAC was a dud in my opinion. Dunn could possibly not make it, seems less than likely at this stage, frawley has question marks, Newton wont, and buckley im not so sure about. Add Molan, Rodgers and others it seems the drafting he did was nothing short or disastrous.
  4. It will take 4 years minimum in my opinion to be genuan contenders of a flag. Were going in the right direction but it will take longer than everyone thinks. these kids will take at least 2 years to be at a great stage and we need ruckman, a FB and more kids to fill depth before we can start getting too excited. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel
  5. Tim Clarke (Hawthorn) Jason Davenport (Geelong) Chris Egan (Collingwood) Tom Hislop (Essendon) Kris Massie (Adelaide) Matthew Moody (Brisbane Lions) These are the only players in my opinion that should be drafted IF melbourne want to go down the road of getting ex players. I think they should draft a player who hasnt played afl, vfl before and get a kid though. For me Moody and Clarke are the best there however the above players i wouldnt mind getting if melbourne wants to go down that road
  6. this may be really silly but im wandering if it were any good getting ROK or Cous to melbourne for insurance purposes. In 2009 either will most likely have a good year and we have got them for nothing. When next years trade comes round could we trade them for a national draft pick (ie only give them 1 year contract). That way we may only get a round 4 or 5 pick (as clubs are holding them) but thats better than a pre season draft pick. I may be off my head tho
  7. me and 2 of my mates (1 a hawks supporter) are keen. so make that 3 all up.

There all in bold above and most are A grade players( whoes that played on saturday). For melbourne, it will take time and a long long time i believe. I honestly dont think we are a chance for a premiership for 6 years. We have no full back, no half back, no quality chf and no quality ff. Hawks recruited by focusing on the spine 1st. thats what we need to do, hence the Jack Watts likely pickup.
  9. 1. Geelong 2. Hawthorn 3. Collingwood 4. Port Adelaide 5. Western Bulldogs 6. Kangaroos 7. St Kilda 8. Carlton 9. Richmond 10. West Coast 11. Brisbane 12. Fremantle 13. Sydney 14. Essendon 15. Adelaide 16. Melbourne
  10. TJ is my fav player, now only not my fav MFC player. The guy has tallant but after this year im guessing he will never deliver. If leigh mathews cant make tj what he should be then i dont think any player can. We did really well out of the draft to get grimes. To me even if grimes never playes a game, it has allowd another young player to take tj's position. I did hear bails on footy show yesterday tho saying 2-3 years we will struggle. to me its more like 4-5 i recon.
  11. I think Col will be a good player. Something about him just suggests to me that he will one day be the key to our midfield. Late bloomer but has had a shocking run with injuries. A fully fit pre season and i think he will kick 40 next season
  12. Extroadinary. Absolutly lost for words but what a kind man. It will be disappointing if we cant get 2 mill this year in donations reducing the debt to 2.5mill.
  13. Thats just stupid to say that.
  14. Give sylvia time. He has shown in some games he can kick great goals. Sure he didnt play well yesterday but he hasnt had a full pre season. Let him have 2008-2009 to get his skills up to afl level. I think he will more than make it if injuries are kept free...although im not hopeful of his OP being under control. Personally i dont think Sylvia, Moloney or Rivers will ever be good players for this very sad reason cause they all have huge potentual.
  15. palmer would have been better but he showed in his psycoligy test he could have significant home sickness and we dont want another Farmer or S.Thompson etc from him. Hell be ok i recon
  16. Here Here. I cant understand people on here who think that nats (a tallanted player who would get plenty of supporters and attention to the club) is worthy of losing so we can win just a few games in the year, and feel 'good'. I have not watched footy this year and been disopointed for nothing. winning is not important this year. We need the earliest pick possible so the recruiting staff have all means to do there job as well as they can with any player at all to choose from. We need the #1 PSD pick to allow us to pick players like Prismill and Warnock. I am happy to loose every game this year and still turn up at games. But winning should not be the #1 priority. If we got pick 1, there is the potentual to use that as best as possible like saying we will trade for example Bruce + pick 1 for pick 4 + 10. That way we get 2 picks in the 10. Unlikely that will happen but my point is we need to finish last to give DB and the staff the best chances of snaring guns in the draft. I know theres prob only us 2 on here that agree but wanting the team to lose doesent make u a bad supporter.
  17. Im a paid up supporter. I have been to 7 games this year. I donate $10 for every win we have. I have a bedroom covered in melbourne FC newspaper articles. My car is covered in stickers. My ring tone is the MFC song and i love the club. I just wanna see the club get long term sucsess than short term and its a fact pick 1 p[layers are USALLY better than other pick players. Not always but there is a tendancy to be that way. Natanui will bring supporters to the game and excitement therefor more $ for the club. I couldnt give a rats what u guys think of me but ill let u know now im as pashionate as everyone else.
  18. Believe it or not i am actually. Adult 11 Game MFC membership since 2005.
