  1. Im with you on this. I have not been supporting the club for your time (actually didnt start seriously till 2002 as i lived in Bris) but today was worthy of a good hard cry. I find it astonishing that, this is an afl team is dire trouble. We have a list worse than carlton, a membership base the lowest in the 16 teams (not supprisingly after today) and its frustrating that in the 150th year the players show no heart for the club. Yes some will say that we are still learning DB's techniques and this will take time, others will say our side was less experienced than Hawks (with Weetera and Morton) but there is no excuse for players like green and bruce, davey and pettard, newton and yze to name a few who didnt put their head over the ball. Newton has watched yze and tried to produce unrealistic shots at goal being fancy, Miller seems slow, indecisive and a hack. I too am fed up. I bought membership this year but for the first time i actually felt like burning it today. I listened to Gardner and McNamee on Tripple M at half time. Gardner excused todays half time score as cause we are less experienced. I would be dissopointed if we lost a game by the same margin even if we went in hard, showed decision making and played with heart. Instead there was nothing at all which is what really casts a bad shaddow over the team. The footy we served up today is worthy of the woodern spoon and that seems heartrenching in a 150th year. If DB is going to really do something with this list he needs to be tough. Dropping players like Miller, Green, Bruce, Yze is what we need. We are sure to lose but it sends a clear message to the playing group. Players will continue to serve up that c--p if not come down harsh upon. I also find it intreging that there are teams who have rebuilt quicker than us. Brisbane spent 1 year in bottom 4 and a couple out of the 8 and show terrific signs. Leinenberger will be a star ruckman and we have been searching for 5 years to find a good backup. I blame that on CAC who gets glowing commentry on here but face it, we have no spine. Hawks, Bris, Port have built a side along the spine. We have no FB, our CHB in rivers is injured with no quality depth, out CHF is nowhere to be seen and this will be neitz last year and newton is not a FF. Its tough times ahead but i can only hope DB is harsh as. This club will struggle to servive if we cant show any positives in the next 2 years
  2. We cant afford to rebuild. Hawks, Carlton have massive supporter bases and $. It would be nice but it wont happen. No more melb if that occures. And 4-5 years is overexadurating.
  3. Bruce has been very ordinary for so many years now and i agree he is overpaid and was hoping DB would trade him with TJ. But yze, yes again shocking for last 2 years but before then was ewssentual to our side. And jeff white, thats a bit unfair i mean he has been in the top 2 ruckman before the ruck rule changed. Its good to see PJ better than him i recon
  4. im estatic. had $150 on rich and almost craped myself. Very happy. Carlton are my most hated team now ahead of collingwood, just cause the supporters are so bloody Judd loving. Ill pay to see judd doing a career ending injury
  5. Iv bearly thought about footy this offseason and not excited yet. I never am until the day we play our first match. Perhaps thats cause i prefer rugby to afl
  6. Col haha hes nothing compared to Bater
  7. I think you will find like myself that people have work on a thursday morning which is probobly 80% of the reason of the attendance. I suspect most that went were not employed or took a sicky.
  8. WTF! We didnt get Meeson so he can play 1 season! Jake Spencer hasnt even played 1 game and yet hes now ahead of Meeson and Jamar and yet i bet u want Jamar, Meeson and White gone for Natanui who could be a sucsess or an absolute failure. Get rid of Robbo, a player who is integral to the forward line. Yeah great sence that is Ill call it now: The worst post of the season
  9. its a lot of money of which i cant afford. Struggeling enough with rent and petrol that that sort of $ is ridiculous and a expenditures not worthwhile. On the other hand, melb are a struggeling team finantually so if they can charge that much and fill up the room then im all for it
  10. I agree with you except for the forward line which is no way even close to the best. Geelong, St Kilda, Sydney, Port, Freo, Melb, Essendon and Collingwood have better forward line than lions
  11. Geelong Collingwood Hawthorn Port Adel St Kilda Fremantle West Coast Brisbane North Melb Sydney Essendon W Bulldogs Adelaide Carlton Melbourne Richmond
  12. any news of Moloney. He and Col are the 2 that really concirn me re their injuries
  13. I expect that melbourne will finish 16th and will recruit Nicholas Naitanui. I expect Jones and or McLean will recieve the weekly tag with the loss of TJ. I also expect that Aussie and Valenti will be the most improved players, mainly cause of our need for speed and crumming in the forward line with Davey playing in centre. And i dont expect anything from Miller but well see
  14. Collingwood Bulldogs Geelong Essendon Carlton
  15. Bruce has been a sensational player for pick 66 (i think it was). Anyone the doubts that obviously has no idea. I have to say the Green is not soft at all. He dives in on the ball and takes marks running back of the play regardless of opposition players. Having said that, my feeling is that he is out of position in the midfield. I have never been happy with ND choice of developing him into a midfielder as i believe he gets lost in the play. It will be interesting to see what DB does with him. On the other hand, i think green is more valuable in the midfield than he is playing across the half forward line. This leaves a questionmark about the forward line. Obviously neitz deserves FF and Robbo the forward pocket. A player like Meric, Aussie or Davey are needed at the other pocket as we have struggled in previous years without a crumming player. This doesent even include Newton who shows he should be in the starting 18. Do we play him at CHF or does DB want miller a perminant option there than the backline. My other feeling is that green may take some time to be able to be the forward we used to know. His kicking average may slip due to less goal kicking practise at training with the increase in midfield trials. I dont think Green deserves to be called soft tho. Surely Bruce is softer than Green. * 2006 St Kilda elim final - first minute and green puts his body on the line * 2005 Essendon game - Runs back with the flight of the ball These are 2 examples that come to mind, only due to watching them in the previous week
  16. Do you really expect to see the best skills in the nab cup. some teams have ok skills and dont get much better during the season while other teams make quick fixes on them. they do know how to handball, there just rusty and takes some time
  17. occo

    pathetic

for christ sake its 1 game. I am one of very few members that is utterly hated on demonland and yet i read today this backstabbing laungage that has been commonly used by me at times. Its one game, its a new coach, its a new game plan, its a team were playing who won the premiership and its the nab cup. If ur expencting brilliance and a top 8 finish this year ur kidding urselves. All i expect to see is improvements. If the nab cup games are going to depress you, then id hate to see what people are like after this year
  18. Its very possible. As for the players, a rumior went about that if new teams arrived, the existing clubs could name 2 players who were untouchables. After these players had been named, the new clubs are officially allowd to poach these players who were unnamed. It seems incredibly unfair but i do remember reading a newspaper artical about it a few years ago. But its probobly unlikely
  19. ill let everyone know i wont be present tomorrow. forgot i had a 21st to go to on sat night and theres little chance ill even be awake at 1.30 net alone playing footy
  20. Moloney is a player every team needs. I love moloney as he just goes in hard. He can win the ball with his strength and has good ball reading skills. His punishing 55+ metre kicks can kill the oposition on a dry ground. There is no doubt at all we have missed his presence in the last few yrs. Call me a cinic but i remain questionable over his fitness. Something tells me he will never be the player we hoped to exchance from Thompson but ill pray im wrong
  21. yeha i just remembered moloney minutes after posting it. Whelan has had a bad run but he has strung some good form toghether. Rivers is also an issue. To be honest it will be a mirricle if the fitness staff can bring these boys to good fitness. It will take a heck of a lot of luck also
  22. its quite depressing. The fact that Sylvia, Bell, Bartram and McLean are so injury prone is in itself gutrenching. These are fantastic players all of which are in my option critical to the team dynamics. I seriously doubt we will ever see Sylvia at his best and Bartram at his 2006 season. McLean has the potentual to be a brownlow medilest.
  23. Yeah cause lets just spend the rest of our history being pretenders. Getting judd was the worst thing possible and giving up 1 player who has shown a lot (pettard or frawley) along with 2 or 3 picks would have been crazy. Oh and yes i can count but thanks for asking
