  1. Hard to read what Dimma has said and not think Dusty leaving or retiring is a MASSIVE possibility, if not certain
  2. I did post that before looking at the scores and noticed CP had a shocker in the NBA playoffs so i regret the comparison, but i think it's valid in terms of influence that isn't necessarily picked up by stats
  3. Geez he's an impressive individual. you've gotta take your hat off to the recruiting staff, listening to him speak he sounds like a born leader.
  4. He's our Chris Paul, i know that's a strange comparison given different sports but CP doesn't always have massive stats but his influence on the game in terms of leadership, setting the tone and team first defensive actions is as good as anyone in the comp. He's just the heart and soul of the team, i look at Essendon atm and wouldn't they love a bloke to have 20 touches, 12 tackles and bring that level of intensity and care. I spoke to a current Melbourne player randomly a couple of weeks back and he just said when you've got guys like Steven May, Jack Viney, Max Gawn and Clayton Oliver out their having your back, it makes the game so much easier.
  5. First time i've really watched the kid play properly to be honest, but my main take away outside of the 6 goals is physically he looks ready to go and runs really well. I reckon he'll make his debut this season, and might be hard to get out of the side.
  6. i got the sense watching the game that we wanted to absolutely wallop them, but we tried so hard we lost a little bit of the connection inside 50 and made some bad decisions with that last kick. I think west Coasts hunt of the ball and willingness to play absolute chaos football threw us a little bit as well, but ultimately as a good side we got the job done is really solid fashion and move onto next week
  7. I still laugh when i think back to draft night when we call out his name and David King goes "Some people are born with it all, a 175cm red head"
  8. 6. Viney 5. May 4. Brayshaw 3. Pickett 2. Petracca 1. McDonald
  9. Out: Harmes In: Laurie
  10. Wouldn't mind Nathan Buckley getting a phone call IF Yze gets a senior gig, just listening to his speak i reckon he'd be a great asset in Yze's role
  11. I have a theory Gus has already agreed or signed, it just hasn't been announced and that's why Goody was so strong and Gawn is taking the absolute Pizz out of Gus and the situation
  12. Potentially to give Bailey Fritsch a little reminder that in a side like ours you can't have too many down games. (I'm not saying Bailey Fritsch should or will be dropped anytime soon)
  13. We wanted to see him improve his defensive game, we loved what he did on offense but he simply didn't work hard enough the other way and would fade out of games completely as a result. The dogs offered him job security and more consistent games in the seniors so pretty easy decision for all involved there Fortunately for MH he got to be there on the day when the team that drafted him had the ultimate success
  14. I agree completely, whoever accepts the Giants job i think needs to be eyes open that there is going to be some tough decisions to make and some challenging times ahead, they almost need to bottom out to re-build the list to be more even across the 22.
  15. The polls and surveys done on this were really clear that the preference was a day grand final, really interesting decision by the AFL here.
  16. That is an incredible presser to give RE: Gus if the deal isn't either already done, or well on the way. Goody has always been pretty honest with that sort of stuff so for him to come out and say he expects Gus to be a Melbourne player for most or all of his career can only, in my mind speak to an incredible confidence he isn't going anywhere.
  17. I'd have thought if the Giants were seriously considering James Hird he'd be caretaker so they could get a preview. This to me is about getting into the Clarko race nice and early, and i think there is a live chance he does land at GWS, given their more advanced list, ambassador money and AFL support. I could also see Ross Lyon bobbing up here.
  18. Who do we think offers more as a first choice on baller Viney or Brayshaw? My suspicion is protecting Gus RE: Concussion and keeping him on the park has been part of the decision to get him more on the outside, as well as his obvious quality on the inside and outside.
  19. My gut feel is that Gus is genuinely weighing his options because he does prefer/see himself as an inside midfielder, would like to play with Andy and money is potentially better elsewhere, but he's torn. It's hard to imagine talks on hold has anything to do with team performance.
  20. Probably MFCSS but does anyone else get the feeling if a WCE game was to be postponed it'd happen to fall right when we're due to play them?
  21. Okay, not a good fit for our game plan. good luck young man!
  22. I haven't watched much of Bobby Hill to be totally honest, is he similar to Brad in terms of his endurance running?
  23. I think Brayshaw, Salem and Bowey all play down back with Lever, May and Petty. Rivers potentially goes out at this stage James Jordan, Tom Sparrow or Alex Neal-Bullen take on the wing role.
  24. I have it on good authority that right after the incident May told Z.Jones he was going to do it as well. which is what the words were that were exchanged. geez you'd be sweating going for a mark knowing Steven May was lining you up.
  25. Personally i am not a fan of the fixture structure as is, my preference would be to shorten games, and play every team once at home and away. so 36 games total plus finals. this seems to be the only way to make the season completely fair on every team. the capacity to sign free agents should be present until 7 rounds before finals, as should in season trading. we're a little bit behind the times compared to other major sports globally and while i understand the pull towards tradition, i personally think that this would make the competition more fair. a team like Carlton could really load up in season seeing that they're performing better than expected. or a team that has multiple injuries in one position could sign a player in season to mitigate that
