  1. If we can't beat that Swans team we don't deserve to play finals. time to have a look at the reasons why our list isn't playing anywhere near it's potential and why the gap between our best and worst is wider than any other team in the comp and why we're still dealing with the same issues we were in 2017
  2. Out: Oscar, Rivers, Viney, ANB, Wagner, Smith In: Hibberd, Pickett, Tmac, Bennell, AVB, Lochart
  3. The Simon Goodwin era has to end, if he can't instill a ruthless attitude to this team that allows them to back up week after week, time to find someone who can. his selections have cost us at least 4 games this year, this effort is not AFL standard. Casey would be more competitive than this. Season over, time for heads to roll, full external review. i've been off Goodwin for a while now, but this is beyond a joke. we're only every going to be mediocre under Simon Goodwin
  4. Oscar McDonald should NEVER play AFL again, he is so far off the standard it's not funny and just being mates with goodwin shouldn't be enough to get a bloke a game he has to go, and so does Goodwin.
  5. I would have thought that Gunston could play the same role as Mitch Brown did on the weekend. i think the way footy is going your second big forward can be a more mobile type. I think we'll be looking to address our forward line, i think the club probably thinks we're going okay down back, inside the contest and Sammy is a good deep target but the outside mids, a bit of class, small forwards and some experience are probably still lacking
  6. I think you could play both, Fritsch and Melksham, but this would rely on Picketts pressure going to the next level and those two really putting a clear focus on their tackle games. they would make for incredibly hard match ups if they could do it though. especially with petracca also floating forward
  7. that's probably a fair call! i think he'd be a good get! Weideman would i think really benefit from his guidance in terms of his forward craft as well as the role he could play on field which would be a pretty significant upgrade on what we've gotten this year from TMAC and Brown. i think he's still good for a 30-40 goal season next year
  8. Oh mate they're in strife, i think a few guys like Gunstan, Bruest, Smith etc might all get sharked by teams in the mix would absolutely love to get Jack Gunstan into the side, they can have their second pick back for him
  9. Out: Oscar, Hibberd In: Fritsch, Harmes Harmes to play through the midfield, don't need him down back with Rivers in the side.
  10. People forget very quickly Tom was actually quite a good key defender. the biggest weakness in his game was his kicking out of D50 but i think his field kicking overall has improved a bit these days. he has the odd brain fart but on the most part he's pretty good.
  11. I'm still of the belief we're lacking a little bit of on-field leadership, if we could get someone like Issac Smith or Tom Hawkins in the door to sure up the leadership side of things- ideally transitioning into coaching that'd be handy. premiership player, still in our best 22 in terms of small pressure forwards - Jack Lonie might be gettable, I personally also think we're not 100% set on our third key back and would be tempted to have a look at Joel Hamling
  12. I get the sense he left Brisbane because he was young and wanted to go home, left Port because North offered him way more money than anyone else would and now he's been dropped because Rhyce Shaws Coaching career is going about as well as Neelds was at the same point and North are now openly and transparently tanking.
  13. Would we take a punt on Polec if Norf would pay some of his salary? i think he's really struggled in a bad side, but his best he's a handy player with a lot of the attributes we need
  14. Would be a great get, would really compliment our side. Redleg was strongly calling for this a couple of years ago, if only the club saw it then, we'd have gotten him for a packet of Skittles back then.
  15. Watts - I'm probably in the minority that wouldn't mind seeing this, but i don't think it'll happen. Tyson - Will likely be traded to another side for not very much, or retained for the last year of his contract and fizzle out as a player. sad because his best was extremely good. Dunn - great bloke, but well past it.
  16. Nathan Jones has had a bigger impact on the MFC than Peter Jackson or Paul roos. he's been an absolute giant of the club. as LN said if Chunk thinks he isn't in the best 22, if he thinks he's being gifted anything he'll retire. it's that simple to me. i think right now he is in our best side, and he should play for as long as that continues to be the case.
  17. If we do trade him, maybe we could get Tom Phillips from the Pies and get the outside run that we really need in return. they could use a decent key forward.
  18. He just looks slow and clumsy. honestly kind of looks like he's carrying a bit more weight than usual. i think if it were up to me i'd be having a word to Burgo about trying to help Tmac shed a couple of kilos and really get that mobility back. it worked for Steven May this off season, i reckon a full pre season, and a super lean and fit Tommy McDonald could bounce back hard in 2021
  19. Harmes really adds another dimension to the midfield because of the way he's accountable at the stoppage, but then runs hard, spreads and becomes an attacking option. it's not really surprising, it seems like that's a role he really understands. he knows when to defend and when to attack, which to me seems to be a part of his current role he hasn't worked out. I genuinely think josh Wagner would be a better option at half back than Harmes is currently.
  20. What today really highlighted to me is the double edge Sword that is Jack Viney, at times he looked like the only midfielder that's having a go, but wow does he upset the overall system of the midfield. it's a really interesting one because he's genuine quality but he's also a serious challenge for the coaches. he went in head first and he either wins it, or he's caught outnumbered and the dogs wisk it away. and because of the way he plays it's hard for guys to get in and support him. he turns us from a system based midfield to a chaotic rush it forward midfield.
  21. Steven May is showing why we so despately needed him. we wouldn't be in this game without him. it's the opposite of our usual games, we aren't winning the contest, or inside 50's but we look really efficient and winning the game. backing us in, but we need to take our chances.
  22. Pretty sure the team that's won 2 out of the last 3 flags and probably should have won the other one as well have toyed with a few sides in recent years including the bulldogs. they haven't fired any sort of shot since 2016 and until they stop living on past glories they'll continue to be irrelevant.
  23. i wonder if we're any chance to prize Jack Gunstan out of Hawthorn?
  24. Jesse clearly has some pretty serious off field stuff going on that the club is aware of, so depending on what that is i'd be open to it. if we could get him for a pick around 40 ish. there is noone in this draft at that area with half as much talent as Jesse. if we think we can get him right and he's happy to come back i think we'd be silly not to back ourselves to get him back firing again. in the first half of 2018 he was probably all australian before injuries cut him down. it wasn't so long ago he was playing fantastic footy.
