  1. Every off season they talk about how the next season is a much stronger draft. to be honest i think it's all a bit silly. we've got a history of being willing to bravely trade out future selections and i've got no doubt our 2023 first round picks would be on the table if a deal came up that saw us moving right up the draft order and in a position to get one or two guys we really rate. Given Cadman is off to the giants and some of the other mids are a bit similar to what we already have, i'm not too sure who we'd have our eye on

Hungry! looks ready to make the Pies pay big time.
  3. I'd say there is a very good chance between now and draft night we make at least 1 trade of picks and move up the board. i suspect that's been Tim Lambs plan all along with the picks for Luke Jackson
  4. I reckon Ross Lyon has got the Saints job over the line so no point Yze even applying, in terms of strengthening our coaching, i think we do need to look at a change up in our offensive ball movement and forwards coaching. Nick Reiwoldt would be worth a call, even part time, he sees the game so well and i think would really help our forwards with their craft, leading patterns and working as a team
  5. especially given what they've done to convince him to leave, inviting his family into the club, promising they'd get a deal done, offering him huge money and now they're risking breaking that promise for the sake of saving some token draft picks, and getting a better deal.

See the difference between us and Freo though, Collingwood wanted a top 25 pick, so we've made trades to improve our offer and we're proactively looking for a fair deal in line with their request
  7. I actually agree with MMW6D, i think they're trying to take this to the last minute so we have to either take that or lose him for nothing, can't see any indication they're negotiating in good faith, or looking to improve the offer.
  8. For sure. i'd happily put on the table picks 13, Future first, future second from North and Josh Treacy or Liam Henry, if they can't stump up more significant picks. But i wouldn't be doing the deal as it stands, Freo need to up the offer
  9. I'm going to put this out there. Let him go to the PSD, walk away from trade negotiations, two reasons. 1. Freo will panic and offer more, they're desperate to get him 2. the consideration in this is Freo is a premiership rival, we should only do this trade if the return makes us better as well, 13 and pick 18 are okay, but we make Freo significantly better without significantly improving ourselves, our commitment is to get him to W.A so let the Eagles have him, let Freos trading out of players be for nothing and keep a rival down. Freo with Jackson are going to be a top 4 team next year IMO
  10. the deal will happen simply because little man Peter Bell won't be able to handle the dent to his ego that missing out on Luke Jackson would leave. the final hour of trade week he'll scramble a better offer together.
  11. It would be a nonsensical list management decision on every level not to take him.
  12. I don't think we need to, i think North would be insane not to take him, even if he decided to leave after 1 year they're going to turn a pre season draft selection into at least 2 first round picks, plus Jackson is definitely going to make them better and they'd have to back themselves to get him to stay. it's a no brainer from Norths perspective to take him
  13. I'm all for Petty playing forward, i reckon with Tommo slotting into CHB and Gawn and Grundy providing extra cover in the air we don't lose all that much and Petty could totally change the look of our forward line. i'd also suggest JVR will play a lot of senior footy next year down there. for me he's already gone past Ben Brown and Sam Weideman
  14. The entire trade set up with the PSD needs to be looked at because it's resulting in clubs not acting in good faith IMO

Operation get pick 1 needs to be in full swing IMO, if James Harmes wants midfield time, happy to move him and a couple of first rounders to get that pick in the door. Cadman is EXACTLY what we need
  16. You're absolutely right and clubs are taking notice of this, i'm sure player managers are as well. Peter Bell has a horrific case of little man syndrome in my opinion, he talks tough, but his ego is too big to actually accept missing out on Jackson. i am confident if we play this out he'll panic and scramble a better offer together, like he did with Jesse Hogan. and then claim it's another feather in his cap. the way i see it, another option we have is to accept the 2 firsts, and potetnailly the NM future second and try and trade our way up ourselves with those assets. that future 2nd will hold significant value being the first pick in the second round next year. it's become a really sought after pick
  17. I could see a situation where that pick 2 goes to the Cats for pick 7, 18 and potentially a swap of picks. The Eagles are more keen on picks in the teens due to W.A talent there and would be rapt if they could get in Jackson for 7 and 20 and keep pick 18 in the first round i reckon
  18. West Coast are making far too many moves and gestures to be a team that doesn't believe they're a legitimate trade option for Luke Jackson.
  19. I genuinely don't understand why West Coast wouldn't just offer pick 2. outside arguably ashcroft, maybe, LJ is a better long term prospect for them than anyone in the draft by some distance. and honestly the moment pick 2 hits the table, Freo are out of the game unless they offer a player, i think West Coast just thought they could sit back and play the PSD card

I reckon it speaks more to the way we're trying to play than anything else, i don't think we might losing clearance on our terms,
  21. First round or no deal
  22. I reckon this Logue deal could have unlocked the deal. pick 13, freos future first and NM future second likely (19) that pick holds enormous value and i think it's as good an outcome as we're likely to get unless West Coast did legitimately become an option.
  23. HIs last interview was very impressive, i am a little bit nervous that Freo are going to make the Jackson trade a complete nightmare but otherwise it's all looking good! A run down would be appreciated.
  24. I honestly think he's got more talent than we've seen and the right environment will bring it out, but it'd have to be bargain basement and a Mitch Brown replacement essentially and if he can win a spot, good on him
  25. Oh dear Essendon, i also think it's ridiculous that they carried on all the way through the Brad Scott press confrence about a renewed focus on footy, only to hire a guy with a background in major banks
