  1. First round or no deal
  2. I reckon this Logue deal could have unlocked the deal. pick 13, freos future first and NM future second likely (19) that pick holds enormous value and i think it's as good an outcome as we're likely to get unless West Coast did legitimately become an option.
  3. HIs last interview was very impressive, i am a little bit nervous that Freo are going to make the Jackson trade a complete nightmare but otherwise it's all looking good! A run down would be appreciated.
  4. I honestly think he's got more talent than we've seen and the right environment will bring it out, but it'd have to be bargain basement and a Mitch Brown replacement essentially and if he can win a spot, good on him
  5. Oh dear Essendon, i also think it's ridiculous that they carried on all the way through the Brad Scott press confrence about a renewed focus on footy, only to hire a guy with a background in major banks
  6. The rumour going around is we're the team most keen to sign Lachie Hunter, i'm not a huge fan of this, just hope if it's true the club has done it's due diligence
  7. He makes a lot of sense for Essendon. he's probably behind Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Sparrow, Jordan at least for us in terms of the midfield rotations without a clear second position. He walks right into the bombers midfield and offers them some serious grunt and 2 way running though, the type of player they do need because they don't really know what defending is the essendon midfield. I just hope this would be part of an elaborate plan to sign an upgrade winger, part of me worries it's the Lachie Hunter thing
  8. I'd be chatting to the Lions Bundling a few picks in the second round for their pick 15 to help with points. i also think the Dockers will end up trading Lobb to the Dogs for a deal involving pick 11 for Lobb and something, then 11 and 13 to us for Jackson I'd be then bundling pick 11, 13 and our future first to the Eagles for pick 2 who are keen on teens picks to access W.A players and pick 20 coming back to us as well and forwarded on to the Pies for Grundy. So essentially Out: Jackson, 2023 first round In: Picks 2, 15, Brodie Grundy
  9. He kind of hit the nail on the head, we need to keep improving. we tried to run the 2021 playbook back and refused to budge, and while there were other factors as well, we need to keep evolving to continue to push for more premierships. i'd imagine in 2023 we will be more daring with our ball movement, look to tidy up our defensive structure to hold up better against teams who run the ball at us, and overall look to get the forward line functioning in a more healthy fashion
  10. Yeah not too sure. my gut feel is that West Coast ultimately won't be involved in any meaningful way. I reckon we could have a look at the Bombers, Giants or even North though. if we had picks 8 and 11 and maybe a future we could try to work something out around a top 5 pick and get Cadman in the door. if the net result is Jackson out, Grundy and Cadman in it's a great result for the club
  11. I personally believe that in some way, shape or form the dogs first will be going back to Freo with Lobb landing there and the final deal will be something like Pick 8 and 11 for Luke Jackson
  12. I think we need a specialist wingman to play on the opposite wing from Langdon, we saw how much we can get from that position when Brayshaw was there. honestly i was a little surprised we didn't have a look at Acres to play there given he's going so cheaply
  13. I have heard Essendon have some interest in Tommlinson, and with that in mind i'd be having a look at Aaron Francis. we rated him highly in his draft year. I think the reason i'd go for this is we'd clear Tommo's cap space which is significant, sign Francis for a much much smaller deal, and retain the key back depth while also getting a player who has talent, upside and may well benefit from a change of scenery.
  14. I reckon we're a very good chance to bounce back really hard and be right in the mix in 2023.
  15. What i've heard about the way we intent to implement Gawn/Grundy makes the prospect mouth watering, it's no surprise at all to me we're as keen as we are. it's got the potential to give us a significant advantage and prolong Gawns career in terms of the trade, i reckon pick 32, and a swap of our future second for their future third as an upgrade is fair and gets the job done. you can't be giving up a first rounder for a guy they're paying 1.5 million at least to get out the door, it's a cap dump.
  16. I see your point, just don't think the Dogs would even give it a second glance unless we offered overs to be honest. his contracted status creates a bit of a headache in terms of getting any trade done, i reckon there is a live possibility they'd say no even if Naughton did request a trade, which is unlikely to happen if it hasn't already
  17. I'm going to throw up a total hypothetical trade idea without any knowledge of if there is any truth to this. Dees: Aaron Naughton Dogs: Rory Lobb pick 13, Pick 32 Freo: Luke Jackson
  18. We need to have a very serious look at using our entire 44 players to spread the load as much as possible in my opinion. Goodwin this year was really keen to build chemistry but the cats put on a masterclass of managing fatigue and getting players cherry ripe for finals.
  19. I'd say it's a combination of a few things Winning the flag leaving the players slightly less hungry, complacent, thinking it'd just happen fatigue of a really long season in 2021 to a mostly very young list banged up injury wise lack of conversion leaving the team deflated, goals give the team a chance to rest and re-set. defending as much as we've had to at times is hard work tweaks to the game style not working
  20. There you go, Hey Freo, 3 way trade, if you convince the dogs to give us picks 8, 11 you can have Jackson
  21. I agree with your assessment that a lot of our mistakes around games style have been coaching-related - too conservative with ball movement, forward pressure dropped away completely, lack of anything resembling functionality in the forward line, I think the simple reality is that the impact of training load management would vary so much from player to player that it's impossible to understand how it has impacted performance and results for individuals and the team without being inside the club. One of my observations of this thread has been a fundamental misunderstanding of what loading is though, which seems to be common and present on both sides of the debate, with the exception of a small handful of posters
  22. He's 24
  23. I think my take on this would be that it's up to Fremantle to work it out, but 2 x first rounders for 22 is a good start, i'd be spitting chips if we gave up a first rounder for Grundy given they're pushing him out the door
  24. I'd be telling fremantle to get that pick 10 or 11 or whatever it is off the dogs in the Lobb trade and give us 11, 13 and Meek 2 first rounders and a young developing ruckman is fair for a bloke they think is work 7 mil
  25. JVR needs to start forward in the AFL side round 1 next year, ideally along with Harry Petty and Tom McDonald
