If we are going to keep an older guy for depth I’d probably rather billing’s for 1 more than Henderson. Billing’s was pretty dominant for Casey at times and has played some okay footy at AFL level

I’m not surprised or concerned by the AFLs clear and transparent desire to get Buckley to Tasmania. It reinforces 2 things to me. We should be doing all we can to convince him to come to Melbourne instead and if we are a serious club we will be able to do that. Nathan Buckley is EXACTLY the coach we need. It would be disappointing if we’ve sacked and are paying Goodwin 1.2 million dollars next year to miss out on all the experienced coaches and go with an untried assistant. That feels like nearly the worst case scenario.

i dunno Buckley doesn’t strike me as someone who would waste his or a clubs time. I think he’d have declined an interview if he had any significant doubts about his desire to be in the process.

Granted, but windhager is only 22, will continue to develop and very capable of playing a very similar role where he can be accountable for the oppositions best and win the ball himself.
