Farewell Judd McVee
He’s not an easy player to value trade wise. I feel like pick 11 is overs but pick 29 is under. Maybe pick 11 drifting out to more like pick 15-17 post academy picks and such is better? Perhaps a later pick swap as well

Trade Targets
Every off season always has 1-2 total surprise trades that the media doesn’t know about until late. It does feel like we’re probably cooking something up

Just want to say that your contribution on demonland is incredibly highly valued, don’t listen to anyone saying otherwise or having a crack at you over this. I suspect some posters think there should only be one gender allowed to speak.

Mcvee and the spargo compo for pick 11?

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's why i was really encouraged by what King said about just bringing balance to our game plan rather than us over indexing on contest and defense, they're a weapons but we've had nothing else since 2021. If we can elevate our scoring, forward 50 efficiency and transition games and retain our contest and defensive strengths we can bounce back really quickly. MUCH harder to do if we trade off Petracca for a couple of picks in the 20s in a weak draft though.

of course Key forwards are always valuable, but consistently we see in big grand finals that the key forwards do struggle to dominate the game, and the inside bulls generally need to play well for you to win. Brisbane scored 122 points and i believe only 1 goal came from a key forward despite Stewart not being there for the cats, it does show that it's more about pressure and the smaller crumbing players and the mids being able to break stoppages and kick goals. I believe this is largely by virtue of the fact you don't make a grand final without a strong defensive set up, and so it really becomes a midfield arm wrestle that's often decided by contest dominance and forward half x factor.

they got on top in the second inside but once they added Neale it was just all over. The cats didn’t want to do the in and under hard stuff and Ashcroft and Neale destroyed them. It’s funny what works in home and away can easily get exposed in big finals where the value of key forwards drops and inside mids skyrockets

"I hope this doesn't sound like sour grapes" - Chris Scott
If you listen to his press confrence from 2021 when we smacked them in the prelim it's so similar "There are lots of reasons and challenges i won't share publicly about how this happened" then immediately after the story did the rounds the cats were riddles with the flu. I would love Chris Scott to coach Melbourne, he's clearly an all time great but at times he does get a little bit "Sour grapesy" in my opinion

Then his twin Brother who a lot of people think might become even better. and they've got another Jet coming through the Academy this year as well.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Tell you what though, pre-injury before the season started McAdam looked set for a massive year, it's just a bit of bad luck for him i reckon

Windsor, Kozzie, Rivers. we want the ball winners to flick it out so they can use their speed and break lines for us. Lindsay and Langford are beautiful ball users

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I think in an ideal world you have the bulls who win it and feed it out to the better outside players. we've just built around too many bulls and so Trac has had to play a role that doesn't completely suit him. His best talent has always been winning the ball and using his power to burst out of stoppage.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Contest is still king in big finals. Those big body beasts just get more and more valuable. Pies found out, so did the cats, so did the hawks when danger turned the clock back.

if Trac wants a flag in the next couple of years he needs to find a way to the Lions because they're only going to get better with another preseason into the Ashcrofts and Allen and Draper coming in.

2025 Grand Final
Wow the umpires are [censored] Brisbane. If the free kick count wasn’t so out of whack I suspect the lions would be 2-3 goals up and looking very good

The dees position seems to be clear. The door is open but it’s not a fire sale. If we get a deal that makes us better we will look at it

2025 Grand Final
Man I hate grand finals when we aren’t involved. 2021 has ruined these days for me

In fact it's the opposite, we were in for Windhager on good money, we're in for Flanders, we're in for Mihocek. Can't go shopping without a solid bank balance.

I thought clarry did spike in form slightly towards the end of the year! Have to hope that a new coach and system, a full pre season maybe a much better 2026!

Sam Flanders
I like Sullivan Robey, Xavier Taylor, Dyson Sharp, Josh Lindsay and Lochy Dovaston. I'd be very happy to add 2 of that group to our list in exchange for Trac.

Sam Flanders
I believe we will ask Collingwood to trade Mihocek to us to avoid losing the compo

Sam Flanders
6 plus 7 for Trac, 23 and the Spargo compo would be my angle. gives them points, we get a deal we can sell to the members and looks good and the reality is 6 and 7 get sucked up the moment the Suns get a bid which could easily come at pick 1 or 2.
-
Sam Flanders
I am sure we're having conversations on if we match or up the offer to him, i agree with the sentiment that you need to spend money to sign good players and perhaps this is a situation where it'd be worthwhile. I think the Trac deal gets much harder if Flanders nominates the Saints though

Sam Flanders
Imagine being a Jack Steele and carrying the team while they've been garbage for years only to watch Sam Flanders walk in on nearly a mil a year.
