Yeah I agree Ben-Hur. I read it someone (can't recall sorry) but Melb. has stated they want at least 1 live pick (3 or 4) in the draft. So if they nominate for Viney pick 4 wont be sold off for the mini-draft or traded. As I've also stated else where we can obtain Hogan with the MD pick 2. The Dogs and a few other clubs have stated and shown they are really keen on Jack Martin, especially after his stella performances at the draft combine, he will more than likely go with the first pick.

It's more likely GWS will take Whitfield with pick No.1 over Toumpas or Grundy. As for GC they have stated they need another inside hard at it midfield e.g Viney fits the bill, if they can't snare him then Toumpas is next on their list (can't pass that talent). I'm thinking Grundy will slide to the Dogs pick 5 or GWS pick 6 (obtained from the Dogs for the GWS mini-draft pick 1 used for Martin). EDIT: That is on the basis that Viney is taken at 3, if he isn't and we get him in the 20's then yeah we may get Hogan from 4 and GWS will get Grundy from that pick, I can't see GC going for another young tall.

Yes that is exactly what I’m saying. I hope they don't nominate for him but from what I’m reading it's sounding less likely he will slide. As I previously wrote we could get Hogan with the MD pick 2, so we still may get a win out of the draft with say Viney, Wines, and Hogan. Anything more than that like the addition of Stringer, Grundy or another top 5 mid is nothing more than wishful thinking, and is only valid or feasible if Viney slides to the second round. EDIT: Anyway mate we will find out if Viney gets nominated tomorrow /

Pick 3: Viney Pick 4: Wines (better than O'Rourke, Toumpas will go at 2) Perfect combo! Best mates growing up, blue chip players with good heads on their shoulders. Seem to push one another, compete with one another and get the best out of one another. Pick 13 will be traded for either Dawes (I don't exactly approve) OR along with a player/s for pick 2 in the mini-draft for Hogan (pick 1 will be used on Martin by the Dogs)

It would be more wise that the MFC chase the MD pick 2 at a cheaper price to get Hogan. The W.B and a few other clubs have stated they are highly interested in Jack Martin, particularily after his stella performance at the draft combine. I say let the Dogs get the first selection with their 6th NAB draft pick, then we could use our 13th or players for the second MD pick for Hogan. Use pick 4 for Toumpas/Wines/O'Rourke/Grundy.

I recall being at the last game of the 2010 season against North, and to me he was a real stand out. I had myself asking who is that bloke and from what I've seen I think he will be a fantastic pick up if we get him for next to nothing. I know he has struggled to hold his spot in their side and it would be quite hard based on his height in comparison to the range of other tall forwards North have to select (Petrie, Edwards, Tarrant, Hansen (also DEF), Pedersen (also DEF), Goldstein/ McIntosh (1 in RUCK the other in FWD or interchange). But a fresh start and increased opportunity may be exactly what he needs. Needless to say I would welcome him to the dees.

57 from 38 games (av. 1.5 goals a game) for a key forward over two premiership seasons, meaning a premiership class act midfield (Pendlebury, Swan, Thomas, Beams, Ball etc.) feeding it in to the FWD50 is incredibly POOR! He is a SPUD! As stated earlier if we loose Martin, Gysberts, or pick 13 for him I will be [censored]! I would much rather land Stringer in the draft (more potential in his pinky finger) with that pick than see it traded for this bloke.

Good points above, personally I would hate to see Ratten in our coaching staff. Too often he got emotionally carried away, at times I'm sure it would of hindered his logical thinking. Besides list wise he had one of the best midfields yet they were too inconsistent, lacked depth, and ultimately looked for Judd or Murphy. I'm sure Gary Ayres would do a fine job... far better than Royal, he has done wonders with the Port Melbourne FC and as they are not aligned with any AFL club is a true credit to his work. Although as rpfc essentially said, how do we know we are looking for another midfield coach... it's nice to dream (^^,)

I don't see how you can inc. Gysberts in that list, I think he is a gun... he has just been struck down with injuries this year. As for Strauss, it's to early to write him off ... if you can you can pick the Beams, Zaharakis, and Hannebery (pick 20's post Strauss) in this years draft I will give you a hail Mary and worship your feet. Then tell you to quit your job and take up a scout/ selector role at MFC. OR do you think they are simply so good because of their development?

MFC claim they will be hard at it over the trade/draft period, I hope they threaten GC by saying they will have a crack at Tippet and raise his price tag up 800K... if they wish to nominate for Viney that is.

Couldn't agree more, if he is still there I hope we grab him with that pick (if it hasn't been traded anyway). As for being undersized I don't really buy into heights (exc. Ruck position), say take Mat Pav he is a 192 cm MID/FWD and an absolute gun at that. I think it's likely Neeld and co. would be happy to go after the likes of Viney, Toumpas, Wines, Stringer or Hogan (U17 mini-draft) all of which are ready to step in at the AFL level... if only we could have them all

I like the sounds of this kid! Although we must ask is he simply so good because of his shear size at the age. Look back at James Sellar (he too matured very early) and at the age of 16 & 17 he and Gibbs were touted as the potential top 2 picks. Obviously he slid and as a smaller ruckman he struggled at Adelaide. Furthermore is it a risk considering he is a WA boy? Of course if the talent is there you take it and you maintain their interest at the club but compare this kid to Jake Stringer, at the same age he too was considered in the top 3. Needless to say I would be stoked with Hogan OR Stringer (or both if possible) as split packing forwards/ defenders alongside Toumpas (outside mid) and Viney (inside mid).
