  1. Mind you I wrote that above before reading the attached article.
  2. I always have a lot of respect for EQ and her work. She is a very good writer and it's often a pleasure to read. She stays clear of those idiotic boy clubs we see at the HUN or on certain radio stations and TV program to produce quality well calculated and articulate articles.
  3. Freeman is definitely my choice if he lands at pick 9. I can just see Viney in and under packs dishing it out to Freeman to break away and send a long bomb inside 50 to Hogan. Many have compared him to Judd and Dangerfield although when I watch him he reminds me of a Daniel Rich (can't complain either way). Although will he get to pick 9 is the question, I have to ask what made Collingwood so desperate to get pick 6, who do they want that they think won't be there at 11 and is that Freeman? I would absolutely hate to see Freeman running around on the G looking like a filthy convict.
  4. As strange as this might sound to some I am just as excited if not more excited to see Viv Michie next year over Tyson. I don't know why exactly, I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe because Freo didn't want to let him go. Needless to say I am finally beginning to get prematurely excited to see what the club and particularly its young players will produce over the coming years with a coaching panel I feel confident about. By no means do I expect top 8 next year, although competitive aggressive football with a few wins is looking likely.
  5. Sorry to say but it will definitely be the other way around. As I stated in the Bontempelli thread my scouting/ recruiting friend considers Bontempelli too slow for AFL (in regards to pace and play) and thought he could slide to the second round. Even Bontempelli states in his recent youtube interview he initially had trouble adjusting to the speed of the games in the championships - AFL will be a massive step above that. It sounds like WC are interested in Sheed, they love local talent and believe he will slide to pick 11. I stated above his attitude is short of desirable, you could compare it to a Palmer or Masten (a bit cocky and FIGJAM) who were both also highly rated juniors with not so desirable attitudes. I was definitely concerned when the filth and WC did that trade, initally I was thinking Sheed was going at 6 only leaving BL capable of scooping Freeman. If the filth do I hope we pick up Crouch.
  6. Wait a second... you are both against the paying out of Tom Scully's family considering it childish (The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill, p.180), yet you insinuate this garbage towards one of our currently contracted players. Come on fellas.
  7. I'm concerned the Filth will take Freeman with pick 6. As for Sheed he will slide to the Weagles at 11. From the reports I've heard he is vastly overrated because of a couple excellent games he had during the championships and his attitude is quite short of desirable.
  8. Grimes or Jones is my choice for captain.
  9. Thanks for the update Grand New Flag.
  10. I will be surprised if there are any more than 2 more delistings/ retirements. We have currently freed up 8 positions on the senior list and 1 position on the rookie list. So far we have acquired 4 players during the trade period and Hogan will take one more position so 5 additions to the senior list total. With the 3 remaining positions we have the draft picks 9, 40, and 57 (as it currently stands). Behind that is 94 and 112, which one may be used to upgrade Magner (unless if he is delisted) or Clisby (although he can spend another year as a rookie). If the club chooses to use a PSD pick and/or upgrade a rookie we should see 1 or 2 more players removed from the senior list respectively. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/trade-and-free-agency http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-10-21/indicative-selection-order-for-the-2013-draft
  11. I must say after watching a few of his recent interviews he is a fair unit and appears to have put on some solid mass since his GWS highlight reel. He stated on SEN radio the other day he had put on ~7-8 kg (by memory) since he was drafted. I hope he can complete a full pre-season, I look forward to seeing what he will produce.
  12. Tom is a good defender with a good head on his shoulders. Once he improves his kicking efficiency he will become an excellent and a highly valued member of the team.
  13. Tomlinson no, Treloar YES and by a country mile. Although I just can't see GWS give up Treloar, he will be one of their best midfielder in years to come. Thanks for the rumour Bay Riffin, I hope you don't get grilled for it because it came from a FB page. Cheers.
  14. Is this Cool Hand Luke? Great movie and great depiction of the last seven years. Although hopefully the ending for us is slightly different.
  15. As they say in the industry, you can make anyone look good with a highlight reel or slow motion kick.
  16. Hahaha thanks beelzebub, I might have but I think I've lost it.... In all seriousness though I spoke to my AFL scouting/ recruiting mate and asked him about Bontempelli his response was "too slow for AFL, will slide to the second round". I was definitely thrown back by that.
  17. Hahahahaaa I completely forgot about this post, when I first read your comment I thought you must have edited it. As suggested by beezlebub in the Bontempelli thread, I somehow must have Marty McFly's alamanic (MFC version) Thanks mate.
  18. Thank you for sharing GNF, your source is always spot on. As for everyone else, lets not get too carried away just yet, read that 30% likelihood. I'd be more than happy to see pick 9 go for Kennedy, as for the player involved that is certainly questionable. For pick 9 and Howe (as some have suggested) I would say no.
  19. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-10-22/demon-deal-a-nice-surprise-tyson "Upon his return, Tyson was taken to the home of Melbourne's head of player development, Todd Viney, where he met the club's new coach Paul Roos, new assistant coach George Stone and football manager Josh Mahoney." At the rate its going the Viney house hold will become heritage listed
  20. I wouldn't see it as a waste at all. We would have got a previous pick 3 in Tyson and teams would be concerned about tagging Kennedy and Jones leaving the likes of Viney, Tyson, Michie, Trengove and Toumpas to develop far easier into the player we would love them to be. Not to mention the additions of Cross and Vince (Sylvia replacement) who will also help fast-track their development.
  21. That is a very interesting rumour indeed (complimenting the disgruntled Daniel Hannebery one I read earlier). So thank you for putting your neck out to share this. If it's true, I believe we would see Pick 9 heading to Sydney (amongst other things). Although would I be complaining to see Jones and Kennedy named as our ball followers, with the likes of Cross, Vince and Viney cycling through the middle... I don't think so.
  22. Please someone re-make this with Daniel Happy in a MFC jumper.
  23. Audio of his signing linked here: http://www.3aw.com.au/blogs/3aw-sport-blog/daniel-cross-stoked-for-second-chance-with-demons/20131021-2vx14.html
  24. This just off twitter: 3AW Football ‏@3AWisfootball 16m Daniel Cross has confirmed with @3AWSportsToday that he's signed a one-year deal with @melbournefc EDIT: Sorry, dbj1983 (previous page) wrote the same confirmation.
  25. I knew I would get grilled for that Yes I am serious. I don't mind it on the AFL site - it's great in fact . I just don't like seeing how the MFC published his highlight reel on their website at this point in time. Unless if they publish a different draftee everyday (Zac Jones being the first). monnocular I too love his attack on the ball, also a big fan of his dash.
