I agree he is a great set shot although he has had pretty straight forward set shots this year. The problem with what you say here is that he doesn't consistently get 20 disposals and we can survive without him, on the weekend for example, we would have been better to sub him off instead of Tyson, his efforts were so bad that even training reports have turned into Jack Watts threads. The problem is we don't have a team which he can just feed off, we need him to work harder and put in Nick Riewoldt type efforts, the frustrating thing with Watts is that we all know he is capable of that.

Who has exceeded your expectations in 2014? and Why?

Seems to have good awareness, so hopefully will dispose of the ball before being caught. -

Great report Satriconhome and much appreciated again. Great to hear that Watts is doing extra work on the hard stuff.Big chance for Salem to show his stuff on Saturday night as Sydney won't know much about the way he plays.

It is on-field leadership that we have lacked since Neitz.

Fair enough.

He is one of the softer players in the team in the JW category, stop making out he is a hard nut, because at the moment he is not. Just because some bloke knocked him out in Alice doesn't make him any softer, and we know the rest, sublime skills etc

Players to target at the end of the year

Prestia and Viney in the middle would be a winning combination, Prestia is the one we need. -

At the moment that is true, but without Frawley(swing man) next year, assuming he is as good as gone, we suddenly have a forward line which needs another tall and a backline without an experienced full back.If we can get a ruck man who can push forward(these blokes pretty rare) and be a goal scorer, just like Mitch Clark, then that would be the way to go. -

JKH- much more explosive than I expected especially for 68kgs :-) -
I think it is good to debut players as long as they get a taste of winning, Dunstan, Templeton and Billings have all had that at the Saints. Kelly has also tasted success at the Giants. The risk is we bring in Salem and we get belted by the Swans, then all the sudden Salem goes back in his shell and we have another Jack Watts project on our hands. It might be smarter to debut him when we find some form and when we are playing well.

Sewell would give us another Daniel Cross at the club, He would provide what Roos is trying to teach our players about...."non-negotiables" Positives.. - footy non negotiables - would be a better tagged than Mckenzie - brings experience to the team on game day - hard nut inside midfileder who epitomizes what the MFC is all about -
not a dumb as yours Sambo06 LOL

Dunn could yet be a success story for us and his experience could be very important for our team in future years. Not many have survived at Melbourne around the time he was drafted like Bate, Sylvia etc

Lets be honest, all of these players would walk into our team. So let's go after all of them, if we get 1 out of 5 that's a good result -

He would be great for our midfield, high possession winner, loves the hard ball and clearances, would not come cheap even at his age. -
Some idiotic posters have recognised he is playing in the reserves and at this stage can not get a game for a team who is a possibility to get the wooden spoon....Smedts basically took his head off it wasn't a situation of showing huge courage by Toumpas, Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for Toumpas to get back in the team, but football is a physical game, Daniel Cross gets cut open nearly every game and cops a few heavy knocks every game! Don't make Jimmy out to be a hard nut, because at the moment he defiantly is not.

Satriconhome, please let JW know we need a big game from him against Sydney.
