  1. so did WCE break their duck against us as well ? That would give us some title.... there was a world famous Oz band around the time of the Beatles and it wasn't the Seekers that springs to mind ! Time to get some revenge methinks
  2. A quiz how many teams got their first win against us anywhere and how many their first win at the MCG? If I recall we were the first team to play Sydney at the SCG and well you know.. we lost. IIRC Freo was definitely a first time winner against us at the MCG.
  3. the replays also seem to have disappeared from Youtube As a club that rarely features on free to air, the lack of an easy inexpensive way to access proper coverage is worrying for development of both our supporter and sponsor base
  4. Interesting and valid point but when you take a moment to think about it very few of the world's top sports have a back up competition. No wonder the soccer players find it so hard to maintain form when they are not playing for the main team.
  5. Darcy Moore must be close 2017... 3 games ....20 kicks ... 8 handballs and 1 goal 2 behinds
  6. Amazing .... just automatically thought it was... just went to turn on the game and Home and Away !!!!!!
  7. you have to be kidding .... no free to air coverage !!!!
  8. I think a few saw Bugg's inclusion but even fewer saw Smith's omission Looking forward to what should/ better be an easy win on Saturday....... about time we had one.... hard to remember the last one ... perhaps last round 2015 against GWS but that didn't really count for some reason
  9. Looking at it from the Carlton viewpoint they would need to think about off-loading Kreuzer. They get a first round draft pick and they free up a good part of their salary cap that they can throw at a top third year player on a long term front loaded contract. If he cannot play forward then I agree he is not of much use to us. That being said we have an opportunity in the next 2-3 years to win the big one and we should leave no stone un-turned in doing so
  10. sorry .. got the games to goal ratio the wrong way round. long day
  11. Interested in developing this as it is probably the key. Kreuzer averages 2 goals per game in his limited career. If he could play a Pederson or dare I say it a Nick Riewoldt role it could be what what we need to go that next step.
  12. Just throwing it out but I see that Kreuzer is a free agent at the end of this year. Lots of things to consider but it got my thought process working. Easy to see the problems: salary cap where does he play length of contract term injury On the other hand it could be that X factor we need and given the right contract term it might sit well with our up and comers who will quite rightly demand higher compensation in years to come. 28 years old in May 2017 so at least 3-4 years. Given Carlton's position they should be able to offer a big salary but who knows
  13. Good post AW. The reality is that many teams are playing without dominant ruckmen. If you believe Leigh Matthews the position is almost redundant. The challenge for us this year was to leverage off Gawn's dominance. ... Oh well we don't have to worry about that anymore
  14. agree.... but these first 5 or 6 games are our big chance to cement the season
  15. this is starting to get ridiculous... how did we offend the football gods in this way Is the Norm Smith curse striking yet again
  16. As at September 2013 Freo had only won 12 times at the MCG in 41 attempts. Since 2013 I suspect that we have rarely played them at the MCG and instead played at Darwin, Docklands etc. So I suspect that other than beating us they have rarely beaten anyone at the MCG. Let's hope we can keep that dismal record going for the Dockers
  17. Let's be totally honest.. if we don't beat Freo on the MCG with or without Max we're not going anywhere this year. I have complete confidence in the team having a good win just like I had complete confidence in the team in their end of season game against Carlton last year... wait a minute !!!
  18. and how many of them are match fit?.... maybe 3 at best
  19. Boy.. such confidence on this site that we can overcome injuries, suspensions etc. Let's be honest... we now have no reserve forwards, no more reserve rucks and the backline is looking thin. And now Vince off for surgery! Riewoldt goes down with what looks like a season if not career ending injury and is back after missing one match.... MFCSS is very much alive with me as I keep remembering Spencer's VFL finals series last year. Lucky we are playing Freo this week .. hopefully it is their turn to be "young and tired". PS: Now see that Vince might do a Lazarus and play this weekend.... fingers crossed
  20. The first six games of this year ... Geelong aside are all against teams that will probably end up outside the 8. 5:1 or at the least 4:2 are essential if we are going to make the 8. So disappointing to see the number of injuries and suspensions
  21. it says at least 12 weeks .... add the usual dose of MFCSS and any game this season is a bonus !! On a serious note the trouble with these types of injuries is maintaining fitness in the legs during the recuperation phase. The absolute worst would be to bring him back in round 18 and then suffer a relapse.
  22. It's just a tick the box system.... there is almost no discretion for the MRP. Impact now decided by outcome. If not the club doctor specifying the outcome who do you suggest. No way would clubs want or allow their players to undergo independent examination merely for the tribunal.
  23. agree ... and remember we were the other team in the windless roofed dome and a lot of those misses were from set shots.... unbelievably bad on our part
  24. Somehow I think this is going to be a loooooooooooooooooong year
