  1. There's a guy who played for UAE the other night against Australia that beats em all !!
  2. Those loopy handballs from the Swans remind me a little of a team we all (hopefully) used to know They just cannot get any clean ball
  3. Just read this article in the Fin Review The headline is a little surprising but when you read it closely the sale was 5000 tickets. (Not bad though... bet we sell under 1000 for Darwin and the Alice.) http://www.afr.com/business/sport/port-adelaide-tickets-for-china-afl-game-sell-out-in-under-three-hours-20170331-gvasty There is something about this that is not quite right or is it just my cynicism. (Perhaps it was living through the Skase and Edelstein times.) Gina bought into Channel 10 to give herself leverage. Buying into the AFL is a pretty good way to give yourself leverage as well. "The major backer of the China game is Shanghai CRED and its billionaire founder Gui Guojie, who joined forces last year with Gina Rinehart to buy the Kidman cattle properties for $365 million." Will be interesting to follow the reality as distinct from the hype (remember those statements before grand finals where they used to say "broadcasting" to X hundreds of millions when in reality there was lucky to be 100-200 thousand viewers overseas at best.)
  4. Slightly off topic but I was wondering how the St Kilda/ Sandringham alignment is progressing. Given the difficulties the Dees had with Sandringham interested to know if the Saints have done any better.
  5. One of them has to win ... not sure which one I want but I think Tiger supporters show more outrage in loss ... so I think I will go for the Pies
  6. What is the practice game this week. With the first Casey game being 17 April that means we have finished round 4 at AFL level before we see the Casey based players in a full on game. Strange system to say the least but I suppose it revolves around resources etc
  7. This game has little upside (most teams will beat Carlton) but the downside is phenomenal ! I remember that Eagles game in 2014. If I recall we were supposed to be in with a chance with our new defensive mind set .... left around half time in disgust. Many of the others I have blotted out from my memory !!
  8. Thanks.... I will have to look at the dish perhaps
  9. yep http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-03-27/mrp-vince-varcoe-offered-bans-fines-for-catsdockers
  10. Strange that Varcoe only got a week..... did not look good on TV
  11. Brownie did you get Foxtel via internet connection or by cable. If the former how does your ADSL handle the Foxtel HD stream I have ADSL and am unlikely to see the NBN for the next two years, The cable doesn't service my place and from what I understand the satellite dish service is no more. In the main the ADSL is good but it can be slow at times thanks
  12. Remind me who we beat in Round 1 last year ... but then again the exception always proves the rule Keep smiling
  13. Many thanks.... will try to borrow a friends phone who has the app and give it a trial run .... looking to run it on a 70" screen PS the Formula 1 was on the local cable where I am at present. It was shown in Ultra HD.... the picture was magnificent ... pity about the race and our local hero
  14. How can one forget.... the weeks leading up to this game were so enjoyable as we all played the percentage games. Sure we knew we had Geelong at Kardinia Park in the last round and therefore we needed some luck but to have the dream snuffed out by losing the unloseable game against a club that had gone nine straight losses .... words still elude me. Looking forward to this week as I fully expect a comfortable win.... but of course it is Melbourne
  15. what was the resolution like and what size TV if you do not mind me asking Thanks
  16. Just doing the sums on Foxtel.... in practice if you want sports and drama (TV shows) it is around $100 per month limited to one TV and some tablets etc. Compare that to Netflix at $10 per month. Ok... no sports ... but the value proposition for foxtel is a tough one especially of you can access sports by an alternative low cost mechanism such as the AFL app.
  17. They paid that kind of money to protect their retail network form the lower cost resellers. The one pulling the strings here is Foxtel who overpaid for the pay TV rights and are desperate to protect their revenue base in the era of Netflix etc. The fact is that the only growth in the Foxtel model is with the young. If you are old like many of us you made the foxtel/no foxtel decision years ago.* The young are into digital as their main form of delivery. If the Telstra app can deliver the product that the young want then Foxtel has no growth in a core market. QED... restrict the competing product and try to steer them onto your product. The future will be interesting but without representation the fans will be the ones who pay in the end while the players and clubs just spend. Interesting article in the Age/SMH on the whole sporting rights thing. Thank the heavens we have the anti siphoning rules !!! http://www.smh.com.au/business/media-and-marketing/pay-to-play-how-sports-bodies-keeping-winning-the-tv-great-rights-battles-20170323-gv58z9.html
  18. 12 minutes into third quarter .. Roos v WCE Kennedy 5 goals.... Le Cras 4 goals (9 out of 13 goals scored so far by WCE)
  19. I am overseas and like listening to radio. There seems to be no radio option on the app so I listen via the afl website on my laptop. Just went to the website via my phone and I can access the usual choice of radio stations. However I need a program to play the stream on my phone. Any suggestions please. It is an android phone. Many thanks PS... have just downloaded the VLC app for androids and I am away
  20. Mentioned on 3AW yesterday that the standard time out for this type of injury is 12 weeks ...... not great We seem to be suffering an injury curse this year. Luckily not to key players but it will test us if a few more go down. The absence of another player on our list due to the Lumumba saga may yet become a factor
  21. This game is a big one .... not because who we play but we need to demonstrate professional consistency In recent years every team thinks they have a good chance against us. The losses to Carlton and EFC last year were inexcusable. Not sure how the players will deal with this mentally but hope in hell it is different to whatever they were doing in the past !!
  22. Riewoldt is probably the most respected player in the game....
  23. Would be good to finish it off.... a couple more goals from the Saints will cheapen the victory
