Pies fans want out of QB Big freeze match
Diamond_Jim replied to pineapple dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
TBH the agreement by the Pies to give us the home ground status for all QB games and therefore the money is rather generous. If Eddie goes at the end of the year will be interesting to see if the new administration continues the "favour". Personally I hate being the beneficiary of AFL (or even worse Collingwood) "charity" but I can't see it changing for a while and if the big clubs keep getting stronger the gap will just get wider. -
The tall marking player is essential to breaking the zone especially if it is followed closely by a quick handball to a running player. It also has the advantage that at worst you have given a mark to the opponent but it is not in a place that will hurt you or as is more usual the ball is brought to ground or out of bounds and you get a stoppage at which the zone is halved. Chipping the ball around like Hawthorn does trying to break the zone relies on skills that few clubs possess. Similarly the handball chain while very popular is dependent upon skill and as we know often comes undone with horrible consequences.

That statement just flawed me. It makes you seriously question the knowledge of these guys especially as you say Howe made a big thing about how Buckley said he could play forward as against Roos playing him down back as the big reason for leaving Melbourne. Takes the marks which looks great on TV but as we know with our own Oscar Mc it is what you do then that is most important. Would be interested to know his disposal efficiency over the years. Anyway.. wish him well in all games except against us !!

Close the thrrad and just look at the Doggies game. We are building but no where not far enough down thr track yet to be looking to far ahead nah ..this is an interesting thread Dogs have won one of their last four. Next week is the kind of game we need to win if we are to be counted as real improvers. It's at Docklands under the roof (luckily as they predict winds and hail next Sunday) so our skills , when we show them should be well demonstrated. Hopefully not too much soreness or injuries out of the Pies game.

actually on a scale of 1-10 it wasn't too bad....... I think MFCSS kicked in well and truly during the second quarter but only one.... "I'm out of here" just before we kicked a goal to start the turn around
-
Anyone notice we nearly lost this at the end A last moment touch by Watts saved a goal from Pendlebury and then to allow that last second mark to Fasolo. We really need to work on our close out drills
-
will await the injury report with some trepidation... six day turn around and an even bigger game next week
-
Well we all know we can play a lot better than that which is the great thing about a close win. Looking forward to a full team four quarter effort next week against the Dogs. They are ripe for picking and this game should have given us real belief. Who knows... we could go in favourites (O No!!)
-
While hit outs were solidly to the Pies advantage we were even on clearances by the end of the game. An amazing second half turn around on this stat
-
not sure how we allowed that Fasolo mark ..... really need to work on closing out a game The touched behind by the Pies was just so so close !! Lucky .... but hell after all the bad luck let's take it and GO DEES !!
-
O Mitch ... you could have been such a star ... still time...
-
wowowowowow thay did it too !!!!!
-
come on .... one more goal and hit the lead for 3/4 time !!
-
why we had the bye and the players have all done a good pre season ........ we should be capable of running over them
-
Melbourne's Jayden Hunt has recorded a match-high 534 metres gained. However, the Demons are retaining the ball from just 31 per cent of his disposals. From the AFL site
-
Perhaps we could make young Darcy into a QB star .... this game is not enjoyable
-
6 goals to the Pies this quarter and still 10 mins to go .......
-
Leaving Spence out is not looking that smart a move Hit outs 25-5 Pies way Clearances 6-17
-
Viney, Oliver and Lewis with one or two possessions a piece ...o well they can only get better
-
from the AFL site: Levi Greenwood has multiple goals for the first time this season. Prior to today he had 3.9 from nine games.
-
Oliver and Viney yet to have a touch
-
As this dark day gets ever darker MFCSS gets worse by the moment. Grant me the next three wins and no injuries and I may snap out of it. Need a good win today to set us up for the next three rounds. Time to play some seriously good football.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 12
Diamond_Jim replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
would love a win by that margin on so many levels. I can recall a few one hundred point wins in our more recent glory days but never by that much. Somehow those margins don't happen any more .... at least for us -
Just back from Docklands .... left at 3/4 time.... lousy game end to end play and then ball up or intercept in the forward line. Absolutely freezing at Docklands.... with the roof shut for a game that started at 3:20pm. Not sure what to make of the Orange Men.... forwards not really positioning themselves or doing enough with the lead.
