  1. ok but under my hypothetical he's only worth a late first rounder now. Suppose what I am positing is that if we keep him and he plays 22 plus games and kicks 50 his comparative worth sky rockets. I was very much into the trade Hogan for value scenario but if the value proposition is being impacted by a perceived injury my mind says keep him and play it out.
  2. Playing hypotheticals... what if the medical report said "strained (or similar) navicular". Can be managed and with good management that may include resting of the player for 4-6 weeks movement should be relatively unaffected. Let's face it medical opinions like those of lawyers are never clear cut. Fast forward to 2019 and he plays 14 games for MFC while he is injured/rested for the remainder. Kicks 38 goals. Is he worth more or less next year?
  3. One doesn't put much faith in opposition fan sites but the few posts on Dockerland that other posters have kindly linked to reveal an almost universal belief that the injury to Hogan severely impacts his worth. Hope they are not proved correct. https://www.dockerland.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&Itemid=251&catid=1&id=492648&limitstart=70 On the other hand there are now a few emerging with comments to the affect that they don't want to miss the opportunity. Always interesting looking at things from others perspectives.
  4. this was probably the most developed thought : "What rarified air we are in presently. The club that wants to poach a dual club champion off us played their hand too early and now have to pay significant overs to get the deal done or both player and the other club look like dills. Then to top it all off a player we’ve been chasing for years pops back on the radar and whilst the host club wants to screw us as hard as they can - find themselves desperate for draft picks to secure a trade target of their own. So instead they roll out their big guns (GLyon) to try and scare us into a lopsided deal when they might just have to take what we’re offering and not get the ‘overs’ they were after. Maybe it’s just lucky timing but for someone who seems to have had luck on his side most of his career to date - Belly sure knows when to time his run."
  5. grabbing the ball from the ruck is now going to become a really frequent thing must say I did not see that coming Mason Cox will love it as will the likes of Nic Natanui
  6. think Freo might be trying to tell us something.. strange thing is that the offer if true would not exactly thrill JH if that's all they think he's worth. Oh well .... perhaps another club might step in
  7. boy... Jesse's value is going down quicker than the NASDAQ Time to do some short selling perhaps
  8. it's happening... I think they may also soon trial some Sunday night games as well. Think about it... the networks already have the sunk costs in the form of the broadcasting rights. Any added variable costs of commentary teams and crew are readily covered by advertising revenue. They could start with say WCE V Collingwood at 6pm Perth time.
  9. meanwhile a woman is forcibly removed from a plane in Florida because she insisted upon taking along her emotional support animal.... a red squirrel http://www.traveller.com.au/woman-removed-from-frontier-airlines-flight-after-bringing-emotional-support-squirrel-on-board-h16ht6 PS I suspect the page count on this thread will exceed the Australian cricket teams score in the final innings tonight
  10. pardon my ignorance... is he an outside or inside mid thanks
  11. The more I think on it the more I am convinced that GCS are desperate to offload May. They are a club that reeks of instability and they cannot afford another year where the story is all about their ex captain leaving. They have had two years of that with Ablett and then Lynch. Plenty of time for this to play out.
  12. and why would any club offer better than pick 11 knowing they get him next year for nothing. The argument runs both ways
  13. Demonland keeps landing the big fish An incredible compliment to the wonderful people that run this site Well done
  14. great post ? certainly not dominant around the ground 9 contested marks out of 16 games doesn't say much either. Hit outs are consistent around 20 per game but he must struggle against the Pies..11 and 8 He didn't play against Casey which is unfortunate for comparison purposes
  15. think they all may have played slightly above their demonstrated form that day
  16. You may be right but I think in a straight comparison between what Hogan and May offer in 2019 my preference is Hogan. Happy to trade for value but I just don't see value.
  17. ask yourself would you trade a seven pick upgrade or thereabouts for a player who has been deemed by the bottom club to be surplus to requirements. You can't attribute full value to May anyway given he's available for free next year
  18. one would need to be desperate to pay pick 5 for May... he comes free next year
  19. it's a pick and May which is the deal. The question is what is the pick we are left with. If it's 12 etc then meh... it it's 5 or 6 then good outcome. I'm tending towards the 12 as the left over simply because we are trading into a one team (Freo) scenario whereas GC are trading into a multiple buyer market plus the FA temptation for next year
  20. AVB for a pick in the 20's ... sounds like the old jousting sticks
  21. Definitely no one will give them pick 1-4 for May which is what they get as compo next year. Remember also that the recipient club pays nothing in the form of draft picks next year. It's just a quirk of the system. On the other hand they have a disaffected captain who they don't want hanging around the club. Their choice
  22. that cost me 5 minutes of my life: http://purplewasher.blogspot.com/2009/08/test.html
  23. Tasting Notes by Billy A Nose: Sweet, rich and spicy fruit, with sugared lemons and limes, granny smith apples, honey and caramel. Palate: Toffee sweetness, apples, a hint of vanilla and a rich dark fruit background. Water lightens things with more orchard fruit, but without diminishing the richness of the dark fruit hiding underneath. Finish: Dusty wood, raisins and sweet fruit leaves Comments: A solid sherried whisky sitting at the bottom of the Glendronach range but punching above well above its price-point. speechless by that florid description
  24. Must say with Kent leaving and Bugg being delisted plus Weid moving up, the VFL side from a forward perspective is looking light on
  25. must say I have not rated them but with Daniher back they should challenge for the 8 but no more
