WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
may as well play him along with Baker until the bye at least. The never ending injuries make finals etc an ever more difficult task. Would like to see if we can get the Preuss/ Gawn system working. He's a hard man to mark and Garlett should be able to work off him up forward. Could become our lesser version of Mason Cox.

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7
Thanks Matt. The one that really struck me was in the forward pocket. It was a one on one against a bigger bodied opponent. Both were perfectly positioned, the ball was in the air for a while and Lever lost out badly.. simply out-muscled. Made me have a good look at his body shape. He's light framed and there was an absence of upper body definition. Nothing wrong with that per se but he's no strong man. Given our injury list I'll take any positive at this stage ?

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7
The best things about Lever's game yesterday was that he played around 70% at least, was not scared to go up in a pack and he came out unscathed. That being said it was an unremarkable game. He was outmarked in a body on body marking duel in the third quarter. Needs a few weeks at least from what I saw.

Round 9 Non MFC Matches
Jesse must be suffering the MFC inaccuracy disease 1 goal 4 behinds... could have won the game off his own boot

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7
The stand alone clubs will always have better across the board talent. The AFL aligned clubs make up for it with their AFL listed players but when you have injuries at the MFC level it becomes tough.

Changes vs GW$ Giants
Not much at Casey as you would expect after the thumping they took. Preuss had a decent game but nowhere near as dominant as last week. Casey smalls need to learn how to play to Preuss' contested marking in the forward line. On at least two occasions near me while he didn't take the mark his height advantage allowed him to put the ball anywhere to advantage but no Melbourne/Casey player in the right position.

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7
A beautiful cloudless day makes for a great trip to the country oval known as Casey Fields. While partaking of the famous egg and bacon roll I shall enjoy watching the MFC future from the gentle hill at the Berwick end of this famous oval. Look forward to seeing a few of you there.

GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs West Coast
The numbers paint a daunting and troubling picture. If Melbourne loses to West Coast on Friday night, its September dream is all but over. And history rarely lies, writes TOM MORRIS. Nah.... the defining games are against GWS and Adelaide and to a lesser extent Collingwood. Win two out of those three and we are still in it. A win tonight would be great but realistically it's about managing the loss given our poor percentage and playing our top ten players into form.

Round 9 Non MFC Matches
1.St Kilda... Collingwood will be top 4 and we are looking for the bottom half of the 8 2.Brisbane... keeps both Adelaide and Brisbane within a bulls roar of MFC 3 Geelong (see 1) 4. Freo... see 2 5.North v Swans... probably irrelevant but if one needs to pick perhaps Swans .. would hate to be playin North for a spot in the 8 in Round 23 in Tasmania. 6.Suns... see 2 7. Richmond... will make the 8 whereas we compete with Hawthorn 8. Giants but a Carlton upset would be okay

Cannot understand the Preuss non selection. His game last week was almost outstanding. If he wasn't selected he should be at Casey building up his tank and perfecting his forward role. Taking him as an emergency is just strange. Weidman's non appearance for Casey along with Spargo is equally perplexing. With the two injuries at the senior level last week to Melksham and Hibberd the team structure is becoming non existent.

still sore.. I suppose Pity.. I was hoping to see Weid and Charlie on the weekend but not to be. If I get along it will give me a chance to concentrate on Bedford and Chandler

Tom Boyd retires
that is correct apparently for a free agent it just goes into the salary cap irrespective of whether it is actually paid or not. The rationale is that free agency involves compensatory picks so the whole deal must be honoured. ( Sounds strange I know). For a traded player they are treated as any other contracted player. If they retire due to career ending illness the payout goes into the salary cap for the year in which paid. If however the illness is not career ending it is a negotiation between the player and the club. Tippet did not get his full payout for example... Because the ankle reconstruction Tippett had in October wasn’t a career-ending injury, Swans football manager Tom Harley has been able to negotiate a reduced figure on his payout. “We won’t have to carry his salary for the full term of his three years remaining,” Harley told SEN radio. “He was contracted for three years prior to that so it certainly won’t be that.” Had it been a career-ending injury, Sydney would have been forced to pay Tippett the full amount of his contract over the next three years. “Injuries have played a part in his decision,” Harley said. “He had a full ankle reconstruction last year. There are strict definitions around what constitutes career-ending injuries. It means you aren’t able to play and that isn’t what’s happened to Kurt.” https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...d/news-story/f9d9a94c8540b7746b6fc77b5abd85fe

No salary for 2020 and 2021. Very strange to say the least. If it wasn't the Bulldogs who generally play well in the morality area I would be suspicious.
