  1. Geelong scoring at 70% of entry into forward 50... we are at 33%
  2. Bomberblitz has a thread on sacking their coach John Worsfold.... nowhere near as cerebral as the one on Demonland last year but I cringe at the love for Hird... "I think bringing back Hird signals the club standing up for what it believes is right. Who are we as a club? The efforts of the Board and the club during the saga would give me, if I were a player, zero confidence that they are there for them. Our culture shattered the minute we let a club champion be the scapegoat."
  3. Bomber Blitz Game day thread making interesting reading at present. Loved this comment.... "The only reason I’m not walking out right now, is I’m looking forward to sharing a few thoughts with the players as they come off "
  4. Come on Saints. Seeing the Bombers edge closer is demoralising
  5. Can anyone find a stat on Geelong's record at home over say the last 20 years. I suspect it is around 90%
  6. Tom Boyd didn't even have that and he got a million a year. .....just saying ?
  7. was talking about the last two years when we have traded away our picks. Trade v draft .. both have their costs and risks. My comment was made in reply to a question as to how GWS manage their salary cap... ie trade high value players and draft high draft picks BTW.. I agree on Oliver and Brayshaw... they are the reason we are in the window
  8. actually I found that the most interesting comment of the night... almost cerebral by comparison to the usual Eddddddddieeeeeeee comments,
  9. GWS trade out high and draft in high.. the end of 2018 saw the world catch up but they gave themselves a real go at the flag. You might ask how can a team trade out Sheils, Smith Scully and Lobb and still be a top 8 contender. They are ruthless. We trade in but have not drafted well (best we could get but no superstars). Make no mistake we are going for it which is what made last week so disappointing
  10. yep... not looking forward to returning to my adsl in Melbourne in a few months time. About the same speed as yours. Supposed to get NBN around August ... for the price I get 500Mbs here plus another A$20 here I can have a whole 25Mbs in Melbourne. Will probably go the 100Mbs plan from Aussie broadband at $100 a month (here the price would be $33 for 100Mbs) and who said Australia's internet prices are world competitive !!
  11. Upgraded my internet speed yesterday to 500Mbs (only getting around 300Mbs so I will need to have a chat with the ISP) but the Kayo streaming was wonderful last night and for the tennis this morning. Getting used to the remote on the Nvidia Shield has been a challenge but I think I am getting close to mastering it. I think it's well designed with only a few buttons but it is very different.
  12. Swans v Adelaide give me a reason please to support either team. Is this the first time an all interstate game has been scheduled for a Friday night. I appreciate that there was a big game in Melbourne last night but it doesn't strike me as a TV ratings bonanza into Melbourne.
  13. tend to agree but if he's going to replace Hogan and score around 2 goals a game fifty or thereabouts is his target. If we don't get 40 plus out of him I cannot see where the goals are coming from to make the 8... Petracca, Garlett the Smiths ??
  14. My guess is that if he kicks 50 plus goals this year he will be signed for around 600k. (2 year deal). Hogan's departure freed up some money on the salary spreadsheet which took a hit last year at the extensions of Tom McDonald and Brayshaw both of which were almost certainly contracted at a higher figure than what we would have budgeted for a year before
  15. Another aspect of last night is that the game allowed the Collingwood defence to sit back around the halfback line. Accordingly when Richmond got the ball and tried to go forward the Collingwood defenders were there ready and waiting. The way to counter Collingwood is to relax the zone slightly. Sure it makes the zone easier to penetrate but it denies the continued uncontested possessions which were allowed to Collingwood. Just need a few turnovers and the Pies game would have looked second rate.
  16. If Cox plays well Collingwood will not be interested. There will be interest from other clubs irrespective of how well he plays. My thoughts are that he will back himself and take a two year deal at around $4-500k and punt on the next deal as his payday.
  17. Agree the chaos game requires possession. If the opposition denies possession there is simply not enough forward forays to kick an adequate score.Last season while we kicked good scores we were relatively inefficient. Great discussion.
  18. Great game.. Cox may be better than I thought Over umpired as usual and to miss that throw on 3/4 time was almost criminal
  19. That is a shock inclusion. Daisy Thomas was never the same after a similar injury. Will be interesting to see how he comes up. Would love to know the real story of that trade.
  20. Big night for the Pies... are they the real deal. Should be a great game... Is it a sellout? West Coast and GWS is another game to watch closely.
  21. so who is Lockhart replacing ? No one saw that one coming I believe.
  22. Joan of Arc to the rescue ?
  23. depends a lot upon whether you back yourself to win the clearance
  24. suspect the weather (cold and windy) and the lack of a second ruckman for Geelong will go against Keilty's selection. He certainly should have played against Port. His inclusion would come at the exclusion of a mid/half forward or perhaps Fritsch goes down back and Sparrow or Hunt dropped to allow his selection. Certainly will be a difficult selection meeting
