  1. Scully had a great game ..26 possessions. His first quarter especially was very good. He was named among Hawthorn's best in several reports. The bias here is as usual overdone. He would walk into our team and any other list for that matter TBH both teams were sub par and lacked forward cohesion. We should have the Saints measure next week if we can maintain pressure. If we lose the contested ball and/or give them space they will waltz around us and make us look slow. I hope the coaching staff take a good look at the Hawthorn style. Should be a regulation win if we are in any way a decent team.
  2. Hawthorn about to play the Saints. Will be very interested to watch the tactics of the Saints.
  3. welcome to the VFL...unfortunately it's an underfunded dying comp. The late start to the season and the additional byes not to mention that the Casey listed players rarely train with the MFC players all operate to compromise the competition.
  4. Marvel is a Disney owned franchise. Disney are about to launch the biggest competitor to Netflix. Watch this space
  5. From the AFL website " Since 2012, Adelaide''s lowest score at Marvel Stadium has been 68 points (Round 4, 2015 v Western Bulldogs). This will be the first time since 2010 that the Crows have not kicked 100 points in any of their four opening matches of a season. " Tactics for the home and away are becoming all important. You definitely need multiple game plans.
  6. a major upset brewing across the border
  7. north are not exactly the yardstick Last year they were goalless against Casey A good win but perspective is useful. I very much enjoy VFL but increasingly it is has little impact upon AFL success
  8. Port had their chance Somewhat jealous of Richmond but that is just MFCSS
  9. Let's face it Port and the Giants have the best songs ... not to mention Freo Go Port !! ?
  10. My thoughts exactly. They are like the fantasy team of football who only exist in the virtual world
  11. another to Jeff G 3 goals now
  12. a goal to Garlett roving the pack
  13. GWS now within 5 points... carn the Orange
  14. just noticed that the VFL teams for Collingwood and Footscray played yesterday at 4:30 pm at Olympic Park. Smart scheduling by the VFL

  20. in those days football on TV was a rarity so you just thanked your lucky stars for the opportunity. Remember the Winners on the ABC with the boys. These days the product is very different and the commentary needs to move away from gee whiz etc. Even the analysis is covered better in other shows. Take a page from Soccer commentary or even F1 where understatement is the key.
  21. I was pondering the vision of Aussie Rules in the early years of the twenty second century. A bit of Jetson's like images came into my head. Drones delivering your pie (would of course by then be vegan sushi) to the crowd sitting in their hover chairs. No need for runners as all players will be fitted with telepathic chips providing instant communication with the coach who could well be an AI device. PS of course one thing would not change..they'd still be tinkering with the 19th century train lines.
  22. it would have been a very lonely time over the last fifty years if you were only interested in the MFC. As Sue points out also it is the relative positions that count. I cannot recall MFC ever being in a position where it made finals in a demonstrative manner. We have always been last minute Charlies on the few occasions we have graced the grass in September
  23. I found the use of Daniels on the last line interesting but on balance I thought that it almost cost them the game. There were multiple occasions when he was isolated with De Goey who luckily for the Bulldogs missed most of his shots on goal. More particularly however I thought it robbed the Dogs of a key playmaker in the forward half. The Dogs forward delivery was lamentable. Hard to see them doing much damage if they continue the stop start play of last evening. Collingwood were saved by Cox...I don't think they will be coming after the Weid. Comments about Moore being "almost elite" were cringeworthy.
  24. Last night's game in the balance... no hype necessary and someone says... "I think the next goal decides this." What an unnecessary and inane comment. They were words for the sake of it and were just a guess being neither a comment on play or expert opinion. Do these commentators think their viewers are fools.
  25. it is the Robert Rose Cup so nothing amiss
