NON-MFC: Round 24
Big week in the NRL with Raiders playing Penrith (1 v 5) and Storm playing the Bulldogs (2v3). F1 have another week of the summer break before the Dutch Grand Prix. Big few weeks coming up for Oscar.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
Possible but I suspect AFL is sending subliminal messages about not bringing down the whole house. Definitely something going on

Trade Targets
Saw a little of him in the Casey game. He was monstering Campbell in the quarter I watched

Farewell Judd McVee
I like it and it might save the dying art of ruckmen. Of course someone will abuse it and just use it as another interchange bench ( a five foot ruckman anyone). Everyone knows Max should have been managed post bye

I was going to wonder about JUH but perhaps not....

NON-MFC: Round 23
Geelong pushing for second with the Tigers next week Not my ideal result

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Box Hill Hawks
Hawks doing everything but kick goals We've stopped

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Box Hill Hawks
Who is the Hawthorn ruck. In the little I've seen he' monstering Campbell

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
That's the way the modern game is played. Suck the other team into their 40 metre zone and then rebound through the corridor to an open forward line. We have been predictable for so long and Goodwin's failure to change has resulted in an ageing team incapable of change

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Always wondered why we got an in and under midfield player to coach a midfield in an era when it's all about fast outside ball movement
-
NON-MFC: Round 23
Yep... One quarter in... we're finished for the year it seems
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
well if you have zero gameplan changes and play the same players (whoever thought bringing back May for two irrelevant games a good idea) this is what you get. Going to cost in a drop in membership

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
There's the graveyard time of 3:40 and then there's 4:15 on a damp Saturday in August
-
NON-MFC: Round 23
Surprised we haven't as well TBH
-
This is embarrassing
The flip side to no insurance pay out is that the AFL and MFC could be liable. A lot of water to go under the bridge but that's the AFL nightmare scenario

NON-MFC: Round 23
Storm had a "miracle" win over Penrith last night. Raiders have the bye this week and play Penrith next week. If Raiders lose Storm could go to the top of the ladder if they beat the third placed Bulldogs.

Farewell Judd McVee
My thoughts also. Using this route Eagles might even sweeten the deal for McVee. My guess is a third rounder which given the Eagles ladder position is almost a late second from most clubs

2025 MRO & Tribunal
What a cop out on the Shiels case One match suspension for pushing O'Connor into a situation where injury might have been done to O'Connor. Nothing for endangering Lual !!!!!

Trade Targets
These long term deals which lock in the player's salary are now becoming the norm. So much for the AFL trying to rein in contract lengths. That aside this is serious money. Will anyone bite?

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
What no one has mentioned re Buckley is cost and contract length. Both may be too rich for us to swallow especially if he wants to bring his nominated assistants. That soft cap is rather tight to say the least

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
And we thought we had training ground problems In the NRL the Roosters and Rabbitohs are having an all out war it seems.... South Sydney have now asked the NSWRL to reconsider its position and believes the Roosters junior representative program is an extension of the junior league. The Rabbitohs are arguing that their juniors are being enticed to join the Roosters because of the convenience of having the training facility in their area. The Roosters have provided $200,000 of funding to provide lighting and improve the school’s sporting facilities. The Rabbitohs have submitted a formal application to have the Roosters banned from training in their backyard and are awaiting a response from the NSWRL. The references are to the junior teams https://www.theage.com.au/sport/nrl/turf-war-rabbitohs-want-roosters-thrown-off-training-ground-20250809-p5mlnk.html

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Not excited by a retread coach most of whom will be happy to collect $1.2M a year for 3-4 years and leave us mid table. On the other hand it will calm the membership exodus and give us a short term media bump. As Dickens wrote in David Copperfield .... Tell MFC that Bucks is willing.... Hopefully I'm surprised but MFCSS runs deep in most of us
