Trying to play the quick game and not quite connecting. That play interrupted by the siren was lovely. Could be the ground but we are playing closer to the boundary than we do at Casey. Laurie getting amongst it but needs to show some more skills. Woey needs to do more. Is K Brown playing?

Casey doing most of the attacking but Cats now ahead due to sloppy play

Nice tackle by Laurie leads to a turnover and a nice mark and goal by Verral

NON-MFC: Round 04
Clearly ran into Houston's arm. Carlton player should be reported for rough play

TRAINING: Wednesday 2nd April 2025
Unfortunately Woey gives me vibes of young Stretch. Laurie is probably a little better than JKH but in a similar mould. Brown might make it on a HBF

The Oscar Allan Thread
Not only that we had to pay a fortune and offer long term contracts to keep key players. I always wondered what happened to the famous premiership discount when it came MFC's turn. Mind you Grundy was good recruiting even if we couldn't make it work

TRAINING: Wednesday 2nd April 2025
Fullarton has had a couple of strong weeks at Casey. Casey's frantic and often fumbling ball movement has favoured his marking game. Not sure if he will get a call up but form is decent. Wouldn't mind seeing him trialled for a half each week down back. Fringe players have to play more than one position these days IMO. Laurie, Woey and Brown ... just not sure. None seems to have that X factor needed to succeed at today's AFL

Time to start a rebuild?
I suspect that Tasmania will adopt the gws method of using all their draft picks and then trading out surplus players for more high end draft picks. Will we be tempted to do a Tyson like trade again

Time to start a rebuild?
Interested in thoughts as to why the eagles rebuild has failed and why we're different now to them in 2018

Was going to post similar We wasted a second chance if not more

Xavier Lindsay Update?
We've given up that second round pick a few times over the years. A pity because that's where recruiters earn their dollars. Our second round pick at the end of 2025 could be important in the scheme of things

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Okay we all know how to defend against the MFC gameplan of 2022 but I'd be interested to know how you defend the corridor game (Adelaide and Hawthorn) or the angular game (Collingwood). Do you crowd the ball carrier trying to cause the turnover or do you close off the downfield opportunity. If the latter do you go man on man or zone. I've noticed that when two corridor teams play each other it can become a fast fumbling mess. Are talls relevant in todays forward lines given fast delivery on the lead.

CASEY: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
Still no Roy George. As many of us thought he might be a possibility for the mid season AFL draft his absence is curious. We left a few goals on the table in the second half but luckily so did GCS. I see Turner as the forward and Lever when unavailable reserve. Until Jefferson can demand a spot he should be in the AFL team. Better execution of the gameplan but a long way to go. Too many stray kicks and handballs at present but way better than the hug the boundary approach of old

Time to start a rebuild?
If we wish to trade Petracca or similar for meaningful picks we will need to cover half their salary for 2-3 years. We also have the Brayshaw time bomb as his final years are in our salary cap. Then you have Tasmania from '27 which will make high draft picks at end of '25 and '26 assume higher values. Hard to see a way through unless we can really nail our second and third round picks in the next two years. Seas ahead look rough I'm afraid
