Is he playing VFL tomorrow. I see we're playing at Coburg. An excellent venue (1:05pm Saturday)
-
Not quite They just beat the third placed team on that team's home ground by 6 goals

Time to get a King perhaps.... St Kilda forward Max King’s career is being wasted. The towering 202-centimetre key forward, selected at No.4 in the 2018 national draft, should be entering the prime of his career, dominating big games in front of appreciative crowds and emerging as one of the AFL’s premier spearheads. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/forget-the-contract-max-king-must-leave-the-saints-20240529-p5jhjn.html

Melbourne Rebels are no more
Diamond_Jim replied to YesitwasaWin4theAges's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was a big rugby fan during its glory days. Once they introduced the international club competition and went behind paywalls I lost interest which I rarely regain. The more recent negatives at inter- country level were the "forever" dominance of the All Blacks and the increasing dominance of the long range penalty kick as the major means of scoring as compared to tries -
As an aside Ticketmaster (the main competitor of Ticketek) was reportedly hacked recently and the data of 560M users is now up for sale. https://www.9news.com.au/national/ticketmaster-live-nation-hack-560-million-customers-data-reportedly-stolen/7c5baa93-eba6-41c0-8868-9f72e22c6128

If it is a concern limit the throw to 15 metres. We have that distance for bouncing the ball and minimum kick length.
-
31% of AFL players reach 50 games. I wonder how this stat compares with the above and mid season draftees
-
Might sound like an anathema to many but I'd be happy to see quicker decisions on HTB if you were allowed to throw the ball. Why is the handball sacred. We lost the place kick and the drop kick but no one screams. The time and place to trial it was with the introduction of the AFLW.

Pendlebury is out for the Pies... Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury has been ruled out of the blockbuster against the Western Bulldogs as the reigning premiers count the cost of their mounting injury toll. Pendlebury failed to complete training at Olympic Park on Wednesday, leaving the track early. The 36-year-old has been battling an arm injury since last week’s draw with Fremantle. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-orders-umpires-to-tighten-holding-the-ball-rule-20240529-p5jhhv.html

Good one Hector PS On reflection Jason's voyage pre-dated the seige of Troy but I like the segway
-
Some big games there If the Dogs beat the Pies and we do the same the following week that's definitely the end of the Pies' top 4 chances. Of course if Collingwood wins those two and we lose the next two that dire fate may apply to us. Gold Coast beating the Bombers would finish off the weekend nicely. Not sure who I want to see win between Port and Carlton. On the basis that we need to replace a top 4 side you could go for Port but hell a Carlton win... Another draw perhaps

Charlie's return now in the twilight zone

Grass is relatively spongey at Alice. Will take a bit out of the players and if anything favour Freo who play on similar surfaces. If we had the money as a club I would have been over there Tuesday for afternoon training but that was not to be. Need to kick accurately and win the midfield battle. It's a 50/50 game. Had it been in Melbourne (Docklands probably) it would have been a shade under 60/40 our way. It will be a tough game but one we need to win.

Can't see the club offering Tomlinson or TMac more than a year. It may come with some quiet KPI's as to the following year. In the case of TMac they might smooth it out to two year with a light bonus so the package totals to say 1.4 years worth of salary. Should be ample room for Battle if he is what the club needs

Agree In his first game for Casey (admittedly only one half) he demonstrated a very strong vertical leap from an almost standing start. Completely different from the pack flying mark which these days is low percentage. In his second game for Casey he was rather quiet. Not sure what to expect but I will watch with interest
-
ill apparently
-
Agree They are only counted if you leave the square but with the present rules almost every kick involves you leaving the square. In the old days I used to wonder how Rhyss (?) Shaw had so many possessions until someone on this forum explained the "kick in" stat
-
Agree.. His 5 goals was great but he didn't dominate. (By comparison Weid did dominate in his breakout 5/6 goal game against Box Hill) Trending nicely and all the better for sharing the forward line with BBB as Weid did against Box Hill that day If we manage to be in a good position for that final game against North I'd risk him as a sub and give him a half as a sign that he's doing well. A long way to go for a player many wrote off a few weeks ago
-
McAdam needed a month at Casey followed by a half as sub at AFL level. We're not going well enough to "train up" players at AFL level. Now it's no mans land. If he's dropped will hit his confidence etc etc
-
Better but still not clicking. Windsor had a very quiet game. McAdam and Petty have been mentioned. Anyway off to Alice for a 50/50 game against Freo
-
More like it Foot to the proverbial floor please
-
Let's get a few more goals and end this game. Hard to see this team "clicking" but you never know
-
Good effort by Casey
