NON MFC: Rd 23 2021
not going all the Lions way at present. Could be an interesting second half If game stopped now Lions would be fourth https://www.liveladders.com/AFL/

COVID & AFL 2021
The present rate of vaccines nationally is just under 3 jabs per second. The mythical 80% of over 16's will be reached at this rate in the last week of October. (likelihood is an increase in the daily rate will bring the goal in by a week or two). Of course you need to factor in the break between jabs and the two weeks post second jab for full efficacy. It's not just a simple function of jab rate but we're going well.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Geelong
the smart move is to lose tonight and most of us know it. I'm sure Geelong's coach does. (Assuming a Brisbane win).

NON MFC: Rd 23 2021
Well there's only one game (possibly two) that interests the MFC purist. Will the Dogs win tonight and if they lose can Brisbane replace them in fourth spot. Dogs are firm favourites to win at Docklands but they have lost their last two against Essendon and Hawthorn (this one was a very solid loss). Dogs to lose on the basis that their forward line will not function correctly (Where's Stringer when you need him). Which sets up the Brisbane v Eagles match at the Gabba.

very strange team to say the least with Jordon and to a lesser extent melksham out. Playing Viney and Sparrow in the same team is a very strange move

Just for those who were wondering...what's next Two cases of Legionnaire's disease reported in Cranbourne. Apparently symptoms are very similar to Covid

COVID & AFL 2021
aaaah....... Day 15 I believe and except for the 8 days in which we weren't able to visit another house... Day 30. So it's now almost 40 days since visiting another person was permitted.

Hitting almost 2 million jabs a week now nationwide. Not bad but as all my teachers used to say....could do better https://covidvax.live/location/aus

Majak Daw off-the-ball incident
Interesting...must have been played after the AFL Sunday afternoon match (unless they got an exemption)

Finals 2021
After ground rental costs the net revenue for a crowd of 20k would be zero. Most of the costs are for security and ushers etc so a closed ground would be much cheaper plus of course the ground gets a fair share of the boundary advertising rights.
-
Finals 2021
10k max if not lower. The ground will have a 50% cap which limits the crowd to 16k only. Add to that the ticket price of say $40 per head and being limited to regional supporters. And of course who gets the game receipts, beverage rights, super box payments and sponsorhip rights etc. (Remember that Geelong controls all those things for Kardinia Park)
-
Finals 2021
The idea of rent a crowd which is all that you will get interstate for the first finals round is laughable. Saints v Bulldogs drew 10,651 last year in the first week. In the second week Richmond v Saints drew 13k The GF and the prelims where States will actually pay money for a team to play there is another case altogether
-
Finals 2021
A neutral final interstate in the first week would be lucky to pull 10k. The AFL are playing a political game and Geelong will be the beneficiary.

FIXTURE: Rd 23 2021
1 v 2 and still we can't get an exclusive Nationally televised FTA game. (Sydney will take the GWS game live FTA) Our sponsors must be pulling their proverbial hair out

Finals 2021
Looking like Geelong could have an armchair ride to the GF if we lose this weekend. Likely finals... Geelong v Melb (at Kardinia) week off .....assuming Geelong win Prelim: Geelong v ?? (at Kardinia) Week off the pre final bye GF in Perth The only one that is in any doubt would be the prelim venue but it's at least a 50/50 chance. Of course if we win this weekend ........ who knows

Finals 2021
If we win and Dogs lose by not much and thus stay fourth where do people think the game might be? I recall a commentator suggesting Tasmania but surely not. Alice Springs temperatures looking nice for a night game

Agree WCW I was surprised as well. Until around mid July, Poland was tracking well numbers wise and then the dialy numbers fell off a cliff. Just goes to show how hard it is getting that last 30% of the population to have the jab

COVID & AFL 2021
Interesting that Poland's vaccination rate is one of the slowest in the EU https://covidvax.live/location/eu
