  1. The Sandringham/MFC alignment did not end well so perhaps joining Port would just be continuing the rift. In reality I think Port would prefer to fold or move into another comp. They certainly have a lot of passionate supporters.
  2. I don't like the extra (or changed bye) but I'm sure the AFL are thinking of it. My suspicion is that as long as they can maintain media dominance for the 2 week period they'll go for it. The idea of an extra week of hoopla with a clear week for the Brownlow must be tempting
  3. Tried hard but couldn't find much info other than the game being Thursday 7:10pm at Marvel. It is free on Kayo. Any more info such as ticketing would be great. Ticketing seems to change each week. At Box Hill you could buy a ticket at the gate whereas against Richmond it was the full online ticketing system
  4. the price of the airbnb in Alice was very reasonable but the rest !!!
  5. Had a look at the drive but it's almost 1000 k round trip with the only overnight accomodation being a rather unattractive roadhouse stop. Decided to drive to Adelaide and then do a flight up and back to Alice. Grab the car at Adelaide and then head to Queensland via Broken Hill etc Lockdowns... will they ever end... my hope is that by avoiding the big sities you can limit the chances but hwat else can one do
  6. Whoever said that travel in Oz was affordable needs to have a look at some of the "deals" on offer. Qantas offered me a points upgrade to business for nearly as many points as required to fly a 12 hour leg first class on the way to Europe !!
  7. Well this is the year... I was planning the big trip to Alice and the Rock. Appears the Rock is booked out until mid September even at $440 plus per night for a room so it's just the Alice for four days. Have booked accommodation and flights (not refundable) and now about to lay out on a hire car. The big unknown is of course ticketing. Would be a pity to go all that way and not be able to secure a ticket. Any local knowledge on what to see on my spare days would be very much appreciated plus if there are meal and game packages to be had they would also be of interest. I recall in previous years that someone mentioned these but I'm not sure if that was Alice or Darwin. Looking forward to getting a selfie under BT's famous tree.
  8. Concerned by the game being in Hobart simply because it's a routine issue. Add to that the on again off again nature due to the WA covid scare. Memories of Cairns. All that aside it should be (better be) a nice win. Already thinking of the Swans game the following week... (hopefully they don't close the upper decks yet again)
  9. I suspect so. The Tas Govt is reportedly due to review its restrictions on WA today/tomorrow and they will take effect from midnight Wednesday
  10. I have my accommodation booked for the Alice Hopefully I can get a ticket !!
  11. You have been proven correct... Interesting
  12. Does make you wonder what economic benefit a game like this would bring to the State. In 2019 when North weren't bad the average crowd at Hobart was just over 10k for an AFL match. Will they beat 7k this weekend?
  13. If you look at the venue key... bottom right ...MS is listed as Metricon There is no listing for Docklands If you are correct that is even stranger
  14. BB is a top drawer forward. Injured in 2020 but before that he was always near and about the Coleman winner. Need to find room if even as a decoy forward. The VFL comp looks middling at best and will tell us little that we don't know.
  15. Wonderful Tasmanian humour... https://www.examiner.com.au/story/7186783/state-invited-to-afl-party/
  16. Ahhh the joy of a North home game at Docklands Hopefully not too many "ZOOM" s on the scoreboard Not sure what is worse... Zoom or Woof Woof
  17. The VFL fixture has Casey playing North at Metricon at 7pm Thursday ?? Am I missing something https://resources.afl.com.au/afl/document/2021/04/22/63fcad5c-71d7-4860-a4a2-5e345bdad7fb/VFL-Fixture-April-22.pdf
  18. Nothing like two lower level teams playing their own pretend grand final ?
  19. So many things are going better but to me the two big things are: Lever... his presence slows the rebound which has always killed us Pickett... a small forward who plays both offensively and defensively plus forms part of the centre bounce rotations on occasion
  20. Nice high scoring game at Launceston
  21. A real conundrum. T Mac's form last night was impeccable. Jackson.. probably career best game... Fritsch.. very solid If Melksham was dropped as you say why not Bedford. Not really sure what Jones' role is but it certainly isn't one that could be played by a tall. The reality is that the list is unbalanced at present through no ones fault. Jackson has come on faster than many expected and T Mac has once again found his mojo. And just to add further difficulty Harmes will be available in a few weeks time. Not our usual MFC problem and happy to leave it to the coaches to work out
  22. 6. Salem 5 Petracca 4 T MacDonald 3 Lever 2 ANB 1 Jackson apologies to at least 3 others
  23. I'm a believer !!!
  24. nearly double yeaaaaaaaaaaa !!
  25. yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!
