AVB would make a decent sub but perhaps one week too early Jones has a slight calf strain... Utility Nathan Jones, who was listed as the AFL Medi-sub (unused) against Essendon, has suffered a minor calf strain and will miss this week’s match. Jones left the track early during Wednesday’s main training session at Casey Fields, with scans later confirming a small strain. “This is unfortunate timing for Nathan, given he has been able to perform at a high level consistently for the past month in the VFL,” General Manager AFL Performance Alan Richardson told Melbourne Media.

What they're saying in Grand Parade aka Giants Stadium
Diamond_Jim replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
In their defence there are now about six posts in the game preview thread. That's a 300% increase !! We lost first time around because Flynn couldn’t play a full game against Gawn and he destroyed us. Either mummy plays with Flynn or both young tucks miss out. play mummy this week and then give him the week off against the Sun’s who don’t have an experienced ruck. if Taylor and Hogan get up and play 1’s I think we are a red hot chance in this game -
Apparently 1900 people in Scotland who recently tested positive had attended the Euro's soccer tournament at various venues. Definitely a different approach in Europe. Meanwhile this week US school holidays start (4th July Holiday etc) and it's let it rip time https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/30/surge-in-scottish-covid-cases-raises-euro-2020-safety-concerns

It's okay .. we don't make too much mess Imagine being the second game after a Collingwood v Essendon match You do wonder though if they will have time to remove the cheese platters
-
Would surprise me if all the Giants VFL players were here in the bubble. They have jobs outside football. Perhaps they will be allowed top up players
-
Fritsch for Brown...get real We need some more forward power Without Petracca and a couple of lucky goals...Jordan 100 metre penalty...T Mac after the Essendon player knocked himself out on the behind post.. We lost the match

This changes thread has taken a strange turn. You don't win many games kicking under 70 points. Even if you do no one wants to watch that team
-
Well not much really I did like this from their Changes thread... It's an even week, anything is possible. There's a push to play Hogan This is the Game Preview: In the last three weeks, GWS has been unable to beat either the last or second last placed teams. This week we play the ladder leaders, Melbourne, at their home ground. One guess how this is going to end up. Last time we played Melbourne, in Manuka, we were well in the fight until we lost around 800 games of experience in a quarter as Phil Davis, Stephen Coniglio and Matt de Boer all got injured, and we just ran out of puff with the reduced bench. I don't know why we capitulate to poor teams - is it the gameplan, are the players just not motivated, or what? Over the last few weeks we've trickled a few experienced players back into the team; expect more this week as Hogan, Coniglio and Taylor come off the injury list - but do they need a run in the seconds to regain match fitness? I reckon we've missed Sam Taylor the most - with him playing, our defence was holding pretty well; we've crashed without him in three of our last four games. Hogan was well provides a focus and hardness that our attack otherwise lacks. For mine, we've done our dash to make finals this year, and should focus on developing the kids for the future. I doubt Leon thinks that way - unfortunately, I think his approach is part of our fundamental problem. What I'd like to see is some of our long term underperformers sit out - Harry Himmelberg (less so Jeremy Finalyson, but I can understand why some would have him on the chopping block), Matt de Boer (unless he's given a hard tagging role on Clayton Oliver), and it's probably time to spell Bobby Hill, who shows flashes but not substance for long enough. While I don't think he's been the biggest problem, I'd sit out Kennedy to allow Lachie Ash into the team - he's our future and needs to play. Personally, I'd keep the inexperienced ruck combo and pump games into them, but I'd expect to see Briggs go out for the experienced Mumford to battle Gawn. I'd normally opt to drop Reid, but we probably have no-one else who can play that lockdown defender role that he does (not that well - a missing piece of our list). Tom Green & Lachie Ash should be straight in. If Sam's OK to play (syndesmosis injury may leave him a little underdone) I'd probably bring him in and keep Buckley, with Idun having a rest - that reprises our optimal tall setup (when we've played well from defence!) of Davis/Taylor/Buckley/Haynes, giving Haynes more latitude to take intercepts. Bringing Jesse Hogan in, provided we're sure of his fitness, would help in the front half. My ins: Green, Ash, Hogan, Taylor. My outs: de Boer, Kennedy, Himmelberg, Idun. (I've opted to keep Bobby in for his speed, which we're going to need. Idun doesn't necessarily deserve to be dropped, although he probably needs to do more in the counterattack, but mainly for balance in defence at this point https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/rd-16-changes-vs-the-demons-mcg.1274432/ https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/round-16-2021-melbourne-v-gws-giants-1-45-pm-mcg-sat-3-july.1274783/

Told you those losses to the Pies and Adelaide would cost us top spot !
-
$3M revenue per match... One can only dream
-
nah... wish it was it's everyone returning from Queensland etc needing to be tested. Most of the testing centres are busy. The vaccine counter outside my local mass vax centre has barely moved in the last week. Lots of cars heading in for testing though. Hope you had a good day at the races
-
If you thought Australia was slow, NZ is going at just over 10k doses per day. Because they only use Pfizer and the time between shots is only 3 weeks their fully vaccinated percentage of population is a little higher than ours at present but this will change dramatically over the next month.

Perhaps the concern is Vic locking out SA Watch WA do it first.
-
You have to wonder how the pre flight PCR testing worked here. The usual excuse for it not working is that they caught it on the way to the airport etc but the odds with a private plane should have been very very low. Queensland have had four quarantine failures in 10 days. Not going well up there. Edit... it appears that SA knew beforehand that they were covid positive Interesting Second edit: ABC saying it was an international flight but from the NT press conference it seems to be an NT miner flying to Adelaide who then his infected family. Plane stopped in Alice and now Alice is locked down.... I'm lost !!

Read the ATAGI advice carefully AZ is preferred not banned Not going to argue however
-
Victoria... The Covid Free State (well almost)
-
The VFL comp is hopelessly compromised from a ladder perspective. Just make it Vic only for the rest of the season and let's move on
-
Yep... She of "I saved the AFL" fame leaves a lot to be desired. It'll play well in Queensland though
-
Saw a stat in the last few days for vaccine rates of the over 60 groups 60-70....around 60% 70 plus ... around 66% This is the group we should be ramping up the fear/encouragement process on A BBO shiraz for the second dose or perhaps being limited to Collingwood games for the unvaccinated.
-
The following teams have a bye Aspley, Box Hill Hawks, Gold Coast Suns, Port Melbourne, Werribee, Williamstown A game against Port or Willy would be nice We do not play Port all year and are scheduled to play Willy in the second last round. MFC/Casey needs to make it happen. One game in 6 weeks is not good enough
-
Hi can you send me the link as my searches are not showing the "buy tickets" button on the AFL site thanks PS... Finally got in Tickets on level 2A AFL section
-
Didn't think they would have the required intestinal fortitude. Let's jab together !! ..... and enjoy next summer !! PS... notice that the indemnity scheme is through the GP system. None of the Premiers appear to have asked for a flow down to the mass vaccination centres
-
We knew it was coming. The future fund concept is a good idea.
-
Go for it. The very rare risk is with the first jab. For the second jab TTS is almost unheard of on a worldwide or local basis. The change which would be nice but it's not going to happen is to be offered Pfizer/Moderna for the second dose. Increasingly overseas test are showing that AZ and Pfizer/Moderna is a powerful combo. An early German study suggests AZ+ Pfizer = 2 doses of Pfizer multiplied by 4 in the level of antibodies. The advice never changes however.. the best vaccine is the one that's available. As an aside China's planned production for covid vaccines this year exceeds 8 billion doses... just amazing

question... with GWS and the Sydney lockdowns what's the chances of a VFL game for Casey next week? Doubt they brought the VFL team down with them. Perhaps the AFL/VFL could be inventive and allow some supp players from somewhere. Couldn't stand another practice hit out Perhaps a game against one of the Melbourne non aligned sides assuming they have a bye
