  1. Underwhelming win on one of our bigger stages.
  2. Do they still have that Draft show on TV that they try to keep a few deals back for. We could be big in that hour or so. Could do wonders building the Brand Barbecued Bugs on the Beach with a dash of Pernod perhaps
  3. Agree (bottom 6 maybe) Last draft before Tassie. Low picks will carry a premium and who knows how they will tighten up the Northern Academy rort
  4. and of course a ten year deal !!!
  5. There was ample precedent for the AFL allowing concussion settlements to reside outside the cap. We were ambushed with a change in policy... that's our complaint
  6. As an aside we need to lobby hard to get Gus' contract outside the salary cap. We really got done over on that one.
  7. GCS are the perfect team to push for a good deal. They have no need for pick 7 as they have Academy priority picks which we can probably satisfy from our Spargo and McVee trades. We need a player or a pick that we can trade for a player plus pick 7. Very surprised Tracc is prepared to go to the Suns. He really is desperate to leave and the Suns are the only ones who can get it done. On the flip side he's not rated by the competition given no ones willingness to endure a risk (player trade etc) to get him. A disappointing end but that's footy and business as usual at MFC
  8. It's all about trade value. Say.... Full contract = Nothing in return $300k each year = Second round pick $700k = Two good picks
  9. MFC is always at its entertaining best during Trade Time Compare with Carlton and Essendon who have Curnow and Merrett looking around respectively At least we've been spared the Judd McVee saga hitting the mainstream media
  10. It's now in the Age Melbourne have effectively encouraged star midfielder Clayton Oliver to find another club after a discussion about his role on Thursday morning. Oliver was told by the Demons, including new senior coach Steven King, that he did not fit into their midfield plans, and Melbourne were fine for the four-time best-and-fairest winner to seek another club. ......................... Oliver and Petracca were Melbourne’s leading midfielders – and two of the game’s best players – during their run to the 2021 premiership. However, much has changed in the years since as a once-promising era that seemed capable of being a Demons dynasty came crashing down, including Goodwin’s sacking. Melbourne did not win a single final after that drought-busting flat win, and finished 14th the past two seasons. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/star-midfielder-clayton-oliver-told-by-demons-to-seek-a-new-club-20251002-p5mziq.html
  11. well.. here we go Will there be any takers at a $700k subsidy Perhaps the Eagles
  12. When will we ever learn....
  13. Elliot has re-signed so it's certainly not a bidding war for Mihocek if it ever was
  14. Well we better hit the jackpot in 2026 because the 2027 draft will (with Tasmania entering) be a disaster for clubs such as MFC
  15. And a big thanks to Demonland for a great forum
  16. Tasmanian draft concessions just announced. When combined with Northern academy picks 2027 onwards will be a desert from a draft perspective for clubs such as the MFC. They have been given picks Nos.1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13, and the first selection of each subsequent round in their first draft, which is expected to be in 2027, ahead of their AFL debut in 2028. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/suns-will-seek-info-from-afl-as-they-explore-ugle-hagan-trade-20251001-p5mz7e.html Sure you can trade for some of these picks but it will cost. Expect the likes of Brisbane to become even stronger
  17. Beware of forward loading. Just ask GCS about their experience with GA junior
  18. I wouldn't back Max for less on ground time. Five on the bench... soon it will be six because when it was four we had to have a "medical back up". Anyone watching VFL knows the bounce had to go. I'm ready for abolition of posters as well.
  19. Be amazed if it was finished in two years. Four minimum is my guess
  20. Is there some kind of rule of thumb as to when a band ceases to be "that band" and becomes a cover band. Deep Purple are touring Asia. are there any original members left. Wikipedia says they're up to Version 9 but it was too long an entry for me to trace through. Elton John at the Singapore F1 this weekend. Why not but surely it's time he hung up his Dame Edna like glasses
  21. Had to look up Berry as I had completely forgotten him. Has anybody heard what he's been doing since we picked him up. University 3rds or whatever?
  22. We won't offload his salary and get decent picks. It's one or the other unless we take a hybrid deal. Frankly I think we're just better saying goodbye and unloading that long contract noose
  23. 2025 was his year to show something and arguably he went backwards. Not confident of a turn around Is 2026 his last contract year? (Hope we don't get sucked in like we did with Weideman by a few decent games).
  24. Based on form should be a regulation win. Still can't see MFC beating North but on any given Sunday..... Not sure that fixture has done us a favour but hell these wins feel good
