Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
Fair enough post. His last three or so games at Casey showed a strong uptrend though admittedly against middling opposition. Next season he and MacAdam will probably be vying for the same spot. Hopefully one of the two grabs it and makes it their own.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It has been said. We have all heard the platitudes but it was never going to work. I didn't mind driving there as the traffic got progressively lighter as you got nearer. The other way was hell and I imagine it would be even worse after a hard session on the track

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Interesting and radical. I suspect it would require an exceptional two people without supreme ego. Another left field is Daisy Pearce

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Agree Not interested in a recycled coach. A new "cheap" coach on a short contract (longer with strong KPI's) surrounded by very good (well paid) assistants. It won't be an easy job. PS: I'd like to see a little more attention paid to the VFL coach

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
To trade Petracca or Oliver we would probably need to pay 20% of their salary simply to offload them. 35% gets a second rounder and 50% a first They and we are stuck with each other unless they agree to reduce their contracted salaries. Of course if they have a stellar year for MFC in 2026 the equation could change at the end of that year as it would with increases in the TPP cap and the length left on their contracts

Time to go Goody?
Agree My problem is that too much of the stadium is reserved with no clear indication as to where GA seats are available. A simple app these days or a digital board would fix that. When I enter the AFL members there's a board which tells me the unreserved areas that always includes half the reserve unless it's a very big game

CASEY: Rd 19 (bye)
Will be interesting to see how we approach a multi week finals series (if we get that far). The issue is the end date and the compulsory break to the start of pre season training. Then there's the added factor of the younger players starting earlier

NON-MFC: Round 21
GCS are an enigma They could do an MFC Win the lot or out in straight sets

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
True He started showing something in the last three or four matches. He has a strong body and is very solid in the marking department. Not sure he has the speed to make it longer term but worth a look

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
It's at this stage you'd be saying.. take off X Y and Z and rest them for next week. Nah... play em all to the end is my new mantra (Perhaps rest Max)

Just thinking the same thing 45 points has replaced Clint Bizkit's 26 point zone of indecision

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
this is why Goodwin needs to go. Who gives a proverbial if we win or lose. It's the gameplan and ours doesn't work

Caroline Wilson’s article 2 August 2025
True but our management and Board has never been up to standard. Even when we had PJ the Board rejected his recommendation for the next CEO. We're forever paying the price of being a former low priorityl offshoot of the MCC. We all know we're going back to being a mid table team at best where we'll get excited about the mathematical chance of making finals. Can't even do a Richmond as our stars are way overpaid. On Guerra he's a speculative appointment at best given his non sports related history but the five month delay had flashing warning lights all over it when you combine it with the Chairman in waiting scenario

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
You have to chuckle about the interest in a player like Silvagni. It does however underscore the failure of unrestricted free agency in that all it has done is push up the retention value of the better players

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Sensible Should have been the selection last week. May to be "rested" for remainder of the season

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
The AFLW is a tough sell. I was surprised to read that the average attendance for the Women's EPL (probably the most successful league) is not much more than 2,000. The NRL seem to be doing it a little better. Women's cricket took 50 odd years to reach its present stage and below international level it's a media desert

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
West Coast to officially request draft assistance.... Pyke will meet with new AFL football executive Greg Swann this week when the Eagles fly to Melbourne to play the Demons. While it is highly unlikely the AFL would consider a compensation draft pick at No.2, West Coast will argue for a range of options to be considered for assistance, including but not limited to: An extra draft pick early in the draft; draft picks the club has to trade; more places on the list; extra rookie list places; extra category B list places and the ability to retain players on the category B list for longer. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/mcrae-s-had-a-first-date-with-jack-silvagni-now-he-wants-a-second-20250730-p5miz2.html
