Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Unfortunately it has come to that time as it often does in many businesses that we need a circuit breaker aka a scapegoat. Not sure who it should be but we aren't getting out of this mess with a steady as you go approach. Post 2021 has definitely not been what we were all imagining

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
Need our second pick back from Adelaide. It's not a bad pick now . For example it's higher than the pick at which we selected fritsch and I think rivers I'm not adverse to trading our future first and dipping into the draft three times if the recruiters think the depth is there

NON-MFC: Round 24
Correct Port will want to win big time for a home final

NON-MFC: Round 24
Don't really understand West coast With their wealth and home ground advantage you would expect to see some improvement Same for north given their extra draft picks and Tasmanian advantage Two years ago I would have said Collingwood was on its way down for a long time and hawks ... Who knows Coach and gameplan are now as important as good players perhaps

Training Ground?
Life was not meant to be easy A rebel board member has called for a spill of the Melbourne Racing Club committee following scathing criticism of Caulfield Racecourse’s new $160 million mounting yard facilities as well as the club’s $250 million plans to replace the Rupert Clark Grandstand. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/racing/rebels-call-for-spill-of-melbourne-racing-club-board-saying-caulfield-revamp-in-disarray-20240822-p5k4mk.html Toss up as to how this might affect/delay our plan

NON-MFC: Round 23
Yeah but we'll make a decent amount from the away gate takings I suspect we need it

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Gold Coast Suns
Mercy rule time Casey definitely needs a rethink as to strategic goals etc I don't mind losing but are they gaining anything skill wise

Amazing that they could match the Eagles offer.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Sounds about right Langdon was traded from Freo for a mid second rounder and a future second but he was five odd years younger
-
Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
We'll be lucky to match that. Adelaide will play hardball in the extreme unless Port get involved. Ironic given that if the move was in reverse (Adelaide to Melbourne) you'd probably have about six clubs after him. We could of course pay a large chunk of his salary and "buy" a higher pick. Not a completely dumb idea

The Run Home
GWS v Dogs and Freo v Port/GWS are the real shapers Carlton could easily replace the Dogs and GWS could miss if they lose to Freo and the Dogs Similarly Freo are vulnerable Of course if Carlton lose to the Eagles this weekend the 8 is fixed other than its order

The Ruck Conundrum
Eagles at $1M per year if he goes anywhere is my guess

Revisionist History - Luke Jackson to Freo
We traded LJ for two pick 13's. Luck saw Freo drop and the subsequent year's pick was 7. He was pick 3 and was at the time of trading clearly the best of his draft year. Freo offered a record contract. Yep we didn't do well in that trade if measured at the time of trading Looking at it three years later it looks better but would (could) he have made a difference in 2023?
