  1. Win the next two and you can start doing the sums
  2. First step is for the AFL to come clean on what its aims are for the competition. My guess is that it's a training mechanism for AFL players at the lowest cost possible. For the non aligned clubs it's line ball but I suppose it has more historical kudos than the next step (down/up) in the local football hierarchy. There's a product... Coburg or Box Hill on a sunny day with a camp chair on the grass. It's as close to cricket on the village green as we come.
  3. Took me a while to realise that JHF wasn't Superman and couldn't be at both ends of the ground at once. That being said they are both good players
  4. To Kayo's credit the sound is now back on the 4k feed and the balance between commentary and crowd noise is very much improved And we have a game... score wise
  5. You're not alone apparently Reportedly better on the 1080p feed on Ch 504
  6. Port seem to have docked
  7. Better than last weekends F1. They mixed the 4K sound feed such that you couldn't hear the commentary over the sound of the cars. Kayo are pointing to the broadcaster. The strange thing is that the sound was fine for those on 1080p
  8. I assume Riciutto is in Adelaide but even he sounded "remote".
  9. Strange sound mix on Kayo's coverage of the Port game. It's like the commentators are in a remote sound booth (which they probably are) but you would think they could do a better job mixing the crowd noise in
  10. Saints returning to lower mid table form by the looks of things. Early days but the top 9 are pulling away from the rest
  11. We got massacred in the mid field. That's where the game will be won
  12. I often wonder what they spend their money on. An extra couple of million each year into that evergrowing future fund will mean serious investment income in years to come. Reserved seat money we can only dream about and the list goes on
  13. For those who didn't watch Casey AJ kicked 2 goals 5 behinds. It should have been 5 goals two. Opposition was woeful but it's a reference point. I think we need to be more daring with our sub and make a tall the sub. Sharp rarely gives more than the player he replaces. With a tall we can manage May and Gawn a lot better
  14. We would have taken 4 AFL players to Perth as emergencies. These would have been the players on the cusp of selection. Perhaps a Monday night game or a Monday morning game (remembering most VFL listed players have work/study commitments) would be possible but then the emergencies don't get a break. The lack of a VFL round during Gather Round was abysmal though.
  15. Brilliant I had to give it a bump
  16. In a perfect world we would have rested Max either last night or next week against the Eagles. It's time to think of 2026 and to play 2025 more in hope rather than any planned way to make finals. The Hawthorn match will pretty well decide our season. Being one for compromise I'd play Tom Campbell as sub. (Weather for Perth is looking warm) Win in the West and the slight pulse continues. JVR to return and Petty down back please. (It's the future). Not having a VFL game next week is a worry. I can understand that 4 emergencies go to Perth but there has to be a better way
  17. Sparrow... definitely improving (and warranting his place)
  18. Sandringham is prickly as we know. Saints want to change the arrangement. Interesting info on costs. Only $50k more to field a stand alone AFL reserve team https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/wouldn-t-be-doing-the-right-thing-why-the-saints-could-split-from-their-vfl-team-20250424-p5lu12.html A split would have financial ramifications for both the Saints and the Zebras, though both clubs say they have the money to field their own VFL teams. The Saints – who received $26.1 million in AFL funding in 2024, behind only North Melbourne among Victorian clubs – say it would cost an additional $50,000 to run their own VFL team.
  19. Thought Sparrow showed much improvement. Still no dominant forward
  20. Our percentage pre game was 65% This was a chance to improve. Anyway we need the next two to get off life support
  21. Would also need to beat Eagles and then Hawks to get off life support
  22. Our percentage is woeful but we might make it a little better over the next two weeks. We need teams 8-12 to lose which would then put us one game and percentage behind. It's a very tough mountain to climb from here Hawks losing to the Eagles wouldn't hurt assuming we can beat both the Eagles and Hawthorn
  23. He finds space. In the new gameplan he could be useful. You need quick connectors. I'd like to see some detailed analysis of kicks/handballs to advantage but there could be something there
  24. It's normal I believe for the stand in emergency to play a half and then go on standby. Would not read overly much into it
  25. The third quarter against the wind was where the gameplan finally clicked. Exciting and entertaining
