CASEY: Rd 17 BYE
And BB one goal , 6 disposals and 3 marks - hardly setting the world on fire as a tall key forward For the record JVR had 7 hit outs vs 1 for BB This is the reason I believe Brodie has every chance to still get back into this team and contribute at least as much as each of BB or JVR as a tall forward - he is too good of a footballer not to

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
Based on last nights output it appears Max is a much better player getting continuity as the main ruck. I listened to the post match commentary and was a bit surprised that Matthew Richardson and then separately Adam Cooney (peanut if you ask me) thought that it would be impossible for Grundy to be an effective forward. I'm not sure I agree with that. Grundy is a smart guy and has plenty of football IQ so with some good coaching I believe he can evolve into a capable forward. Cooney was actually suggesting we trade Grundy at seasons end - to me that would be dumb because atm we have nobody ready to take the ruck role on if Max were to get injured. I'd love to see Brodie become a serious threat in the F50 by the seasons end - over to our coaches to make it happen.

I'm really concerned if they persist with bombing long into F50 Andrews will have a field day and set up attacks repeatedly. BB has not shown any ability to take contested marks, nor has he demonstrated any real ability to chase or tackle effectively when the ball is in dispute or in the opposition's possession. I know some people will not agree but personally I think we'd be better served playing JVR or even Schache over BB atm.

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Sandringham
Adams - Agree it was one of his better games - he managed to take a few marks and his disposal was very solid. He will get better when he gets more used to playing against bigger bodies and builds some additional strength. Another pre-season will do him a lot of good. Jefferson - one of his quieter days and he didn't hit the scoreboard. I am still not sure he will make it at AFL level however he did take a couple of a good marks in Q3 that suggests he does have potential. I'm living in hope that with another couple of seasons he will muscle up and possibly even become our version of JUH. I can still remember Jamarra's early games where he looked pretty timid and anything but a key position forward. Fingers crossed and I hope he spends a lot of time in the gym over summer.

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Sandringham
He is certainly quite mobile and has a good leap - he was well beaten in the ruck by a much stronger opponent - the strength and knowledge to counter that will come with one or two more pre seasons Every game he gets through given his delayed start this year is a bonus in terms of his development I think he has potential to be a good ruck / forward given time

POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs St Kilda
When he went onto the ball last night he fumbled terribly and then I think his only kick was a Clanger straight to an opposition player He just seems really flat and completely devoid of confidence and energy - no idea why he should be flying in theory now he has the contract monkey off his back Mind you he isnāt alone we have a few that lack confidence atm it seems

Where will the revenue come from?
Please correct if I'm wrong but presumably that Ad revenue helps support the payment of Broadcasting Rights which I understand ultimately trickle down to the clubs Doesn't that mean the problem will still filter back to the AFL - unless the Broadcasters can offset that Ad revenue which based on the current advertising is probably unlikely?

'Dump kicks into the 50'
I'm starting to feel we shoot ourselves in the foot some games with the high press (trying to keep the ball in the F50 and get repeat entry) The problem with this strategy is that most players on the field find themselves sucked into our forward half and this in itself reduces the space and time our forwards have to work in. It was painfully evident against Geelong in the last quarter where we pushed up high, lost possession and then got severely punished on turnover. Our key position backs are sound when the ball comes in slowly but I don't think they are the best when it comes in quick on transition - May in particular is very vulnerable when the ball hits the ground IMO.

Re BBB I only saw the last half but not doing enough yet imo

NON-MFC: Rd 15 2023
Genuinely surprised you think the umpires contributed to our loss we had the game in our control and then just seemed to lose all structure in the last quarter. We seemed to push too many into our forward 50 repeatedly only to be burnt on silly turnovers repeatedly

Collingwood at Kardinia Park
Iām hoping with the upgrades to their narrow little dung hill this might change and some of the protected clubs such as Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton May finally get shunted down there from next season

My 3 word player analysis V Geelong
Gawn - actually looked disinterested Grundy - better than Gawn Viney - showed some heart Neal-Bullen - reacts before thinks Chandler - can't keep carrying Rivers - Close to best Fritsch - more cameo efforts Pickett - concerning post contract Salem - played quite well Brayshaw - some absolute howlers Langdon - not very effective Petracca - battled heavy tag Hunter - a good effort Hibberd - not his best van Rooyen - very little impact Jordon - looked at sea McVee - disappointing last night May - easily won duel Lever - did his job Petty - really looked underdone Spargo - hardly ever sighted Swallow - very limited impact Smith - defensive game missing

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Last quarter was really disappointing - it looked like one team was playing for their season and the other was pretty much going through the motions and felt a win was not important. We had the best chance we can get to beat them on their dung heap, and we just didn't seem to match their effort. In a close competition and with teams nipping at our heals these games are important - we have yet again let ourselves down I feel. Top 2 finish gone as a possibility which should have been enough motive IMO
