I raise this as it seems to me we need to add some pointy end talent with good skills and footy IQ and fill list gaps. It may take a few drafts as Sydney now holds our 2022 first pick #14. Drafting reports are starting to say that clubs will trade out their 2022 picks for 2023 as it has more top end talent. The Jackson trade may help if we get and keep some good draft picks. I would like to see us keep our 2023 first pick unless we get a deal we can't refuse.

We trade out our future first round pick during the player trade period. It has generally served us well. But is it so wise to trade that early now with draft night trading? According to reports, in recent years we have tried to trade up on draft night for Zac Butters, Max Holmes and maybe others. Because our 1st future pick was gone earlier, in the player trade period we couldn't add any future picks to our draft night offer to climb the order to get them. While we have mastered trading picks and moving up the order generally I'm not sure we have kept an eye on having flexibility draft night. So two questions: Should we continue to trade out our future 1st? Should we keep it and our powder dry for draft night?

On the bright side: We deny Geelong the bragging rights of a return PF mauling. On the not so bright side: Sydney hold our 1st round pick #14 which just makes them better.

He was responsible for their goal with 10 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter. It gave them a ray of hope that if they came out all guns blazing in the 3rd and quickly goaled, which they did, they were back in it. Without that goal we were 28 pts at the main break. Within a few minutes of the 3rd starting we were just 8 pts up. Without that on the siren goal they didn't have that little confidence boost. It would have been more of the 'here we go again' feeling. Why do I say Viney was responsible. Max tapped the ball into the dirt for Viney to pick up or at worst kill it before the siren. Viney stood a few meters off Zorko at the CB. He hesitated when Max tapped the ball down. Zorko ran onto the ball didn't break stride and there was their confidence boosting goal. It made Zorko feel 10' tall. Not the reason for the loss but a very significant moment to lose. Last week coaches talked about winning the significant moments is so important in finals. That was a very significant moment in the context of the game. Viney had to kill that ball!

Couldn't they wait an hour until the crowds have cleared from Richmond!

Fremantle looms as an active player in the trade period, with Luke Jackson firmly in their sights, but salary cap pressure has led to several players receiving below market value deals to remain next season and beyond. “Once Fremantle has played their last game, Rory Lobb, Blake Acres, Griffin Logue and Lloyd Meek are all expected to ask for trades,” he said. “It’s tight-lipped at the moment because the understanding amongst those players and their agents and Fremantle is, ‘let’s just shut up about it and try and win a semi final, win a prelim, get into a Grand Final and see what can happen then’." Logue, Lobb and Meek departing will deplete the talls on their list. Jackson may be an in to offset but still a fair dent in one year.

Me. Very confident.

Accept not knowing what he looks like is on me but it was a genuine question without any ill intent and thanks for answering.

Personally? Not at all. I'm very comfortable with my attendance and barracking levels. I just think we are better on DL than belittling our own (fans/members). To me it is no different than posters belittling players who wear our beloved rad and blue.

It should help us. They have a relatively inexperienced ruckman (Fort) with McStay as a backup. McStay will spend less time as a forward and with Daniher out it further weakens their fwd line. It leaves only Hipwood as a recognised tall forward. Without Oscar Mc they really don't have someone to back up behind the ball as Adams is still out. I wouldn't be surprised if they play to a short forward line and hope to catch out our tall defenders who are said to 'panic when the ball hits the ground'. A risk for LIons to make such changes to their game plan but they have nothing to lose. And it might just work. Such a change would possible surprise us but fortunately, we know early enough to make adjustments to match ups and defensive positioning.

Lions have gone from imv being 'too tall' in the round 23 game to not tall enough this time, without Oscar Mc and Daniher. Certainly makes for a different game to the last few between the two teams..

🤔 King Charles 111 and the Queen Consort Camilia seem to get on just fine...

Accompanied by @Sir Why You LittleI presume! What about @Lord Nev-🤔 On second thoughts, maybe he would need to catch a different flight to the aforementioned Knight!

iirc Burgess sat on the bench with Goodwin. Can't say that I would recognise Griffith but curious if he sits on the bench? Not making any implications, just curious if our game day off-field structure has changed.

That could describe our second half of 2022!!

Smart move by Freo to stay on the East Coast until their finals end. If they didn't and kept winning they would fly Perth-Melb-Perth-Syd-Perth-Melb over a two week period where they have just 6 or 7 day breaks between games. Now they go Perth-Melb-Syd-Melb and stay here until they are knocked out. Its a bit like the hub/fortress we created last year, reducing distractions. While unlikely it could be galvanising enough to get through to the GF.

I was reflecting on the many posts in this and other threads that draw on the 65,000 members as the reference point for their 'dees fans don't go to games' narrative. Certainly < 60,000 is a disappointment. But if we were playing Collingwood it would be 90,000+. But then the narrative on here would be 'dees fans don't make enough noise'. Yes, we as fans could do a lot better attending and noise at games but I find the constant dees fan criticism (not referring to yourself) uncomfortable. I don't care to repeat why I don't get to all games but if I don't go, there is a good reason.

They will be excellent for the Richmond system. Taranto will be an outstanding 'A' level player at Richmonod where all players pull their weight. GWS's so called elite players, don't.

Agree it is great to grow the membership. I just find it a little frustrating that so many posters here are berating members for not turning up. As I alluded to earlier memberships do not equal members. I know an MCC member who has an MFC membership and buys an MFC GA membership. Like me it is 3 memberships but only 1 person. The other 4 'members' don't exist. Hope you enjoy the night with the kids and the team brings home a win!
-
Keep in mind 65,000 memberships does not mean 65,000 members let alone 65,000 adults who can readily get to games. eg MCC members buy MFC memberships, members like me have 3 memberships. Only one person turns up for these multiple memberships. Then there are kids, elderly, i/state and country members who simply can't get to games. Take those out of the 65,000 memberships and I reckon the number of members able to attend games, even finals, is more like 50,000.

As Ross Lyon said, if you are not an 'Ess 'person', after a couple of years you get spat out even if you make finals: Knights, Worsfold and Rutten. They did a lot better than their 'Ess people': Hird, Bomber. Stay away Adem!

Not everyone who has a GFG/Priority 1 will want a GF ticket so the ballot is for those interested to register that interest. It is a ballot in the sense that you take the seat allocated. Everyone that is Priority 1 will get a ticket if they register their interest in the 'ballot'. Tickets not taken up by Priority 1 tickets become available for Priority 2 then Priority 3 holders that have registered interest in the ballot.

And why didn't the box make a change when the game was slipping away... All for backing our system and our players but there are times when changes in game are requied.

TRAINING: Thursday 8th September 2022
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
That is how we played Brisbane at the Gabba recently. Delivery was deep i50 and we scored freely and accurately. Couldn't understand why we didn't try it last week in the 4th when the game was on the line.- 141 replies
