Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
The more serious concern in terms of trying to get a resolution is that the indigenous families don't wish to testify or for the issues to go into the legal system (according to John Ralph). Without them telling their stories to a representative body Clarkson, Burt and Fagan will forever stay accused and don't get the opportunity to put their case.

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
Just to add more layers of complexity. According to John Ralph first-nations-families-reservations-to-give-testimonies “It’s become a political minefield, and my strong understanding is there are deep reservations about – what now are five First Nations families – in terms of them actually testifying. It would be a disaster if they didn’t testify, because we’d never get a resolution on this. “Those families believe they’ve already told Phil Egan their story, they’ve already told Russell Jackson about it. They haven’t got confidence the AFL can work through this, because of the Eddie Betts saga and some of the allegations there that were never really followed through.” “They (the families) don’t want it to go to the legal system, but that independent panel, they want it to be truly independent. They feel like they’ve had 30 years of racism issues and people not being censored for racist comments. Meanwhile Fagan has confirmed his categorical denial of accusations and “I also confirm my intention to participate fully in any investigative process, provided that it is independent, fair and impartial, and respects my right to be heard". chris-fagan-statement The latter part looks like a recent addition to his prior statement. Maybe he has read the John Ralph report. It looks like both parties have reservations about the 'independence' and 'fairness' of the panel process. Good luck to the AFL putting together a panel that satisfies all parties. This may take forever just to get to first base.

Adam Tomlinson on the move?
The football media led by The Age is reporting two years to 2024. BUT The following show his contract is to 2023: AFL Press Release at the time he transferred from GWS. Footywire which is usually accurate. The Contracts thread prepared by yours truly is almost never wrong 😉 However, if anyone can find something more reliable than the football media great but until then its best to stick with one year to the end of 2023. I reckon one media person has said to 2024 and they have all jumped on the bandwagon!

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Thanks. This is the most realistic scenario i've seen.

Jordan De Goey
iirc some Coll sponsors were pretty upset with De Goey's NY and Bali antics. I wonder what their thoughts are on making the behavioural clauses less restrictive. Along with the 'do better' report and Eddie's antics a few years ago their sponsors have really been tested.

What's next for Adem Yze?
Scott has put his hat in the ring. If some reports are to be believed it is his for the taking. According to the Age one of the other applicants Lade has moved to the Bulldogs. brad-scott-shows-interest-in-bombers-coaching-job Looks like Yze and Scott are the only ones left standing.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I think it depends on the commentator. @KLVreported that Sanderson said a good 1st round pick and maybe more. They are just like the usual ex football jocks; just guessing and making up stuff to fill in air time.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
It feels like that sometimes.

Jordan De Goey
The Age is reporting De Goey has refused Collingwood's behavioural clauses in the proposed contract. Gutsy move.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Interesting from The Age: "Collingwood do not have to trade Grundy out to make salary cap room for the players they have targeted this trade period in McStay, Bobby Hill from the Giants and Billy Frampton from Adelaide. The option of trading Grundy is about creating salary cap space for other potential moves such as Tom Mitchell from Hawthorn. Mitchell would only be an option if Grundy left Collingwood. Hawthorn would be prepared to pay a significant portion of Mitchell’s salary and would not require a significant draft pick in exchange". Mitchell is the same age as Grundy and probably on similar dollars with less years on the contract and is a Brownlow medalist, 2 X AA, 3 X BF, MVP but will not attract a significant draft pick. So why is everyone , in partitcular the media talking a good 1st round pick + for Grundy!!!!!!!!

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
I wonder if Hawthorn gave the 3 accused a 'heads up' on what was in the report when they received it. I'm sure they would have if they still worked there. It still may not have prepared them for the content of the ABC article which had new claims in it.

2022 GRAND FINAL
They already have: seven-renews-push-for-night-grand-final-after-ratings-slump-for-one-sided-decider I don't mind a twilight game.

Injured Players
All the more reason why we need to change. I mentioned elsewhere 'they have become us' terms of game style and ball movement. Byrnes also had intel on our fitness and loading programs under the master Darren Burgess. Scott mentioned during the bye they were doing 'loading' differently this year and I couldn't help thinking that was in part due to Byrne's input.

Extra "MAGIC" Round in 2023?
I would rather it be interstate than Victoria otherwise it would be easy for some Vic teams to get extra games at their 'Home' stadium so the bigger G teams will do well as will some Marvel tenants.

2022 GRAND FINAL
They will find out next year!!
-
2022 GRAND FINAL
Not sure it is the time slot that makes a difference! Comparisons to the 'night' games of 2020 and 2021 figures, aren't really vallid as they both had all Vic teams and Victoria was in lock down with a metro night curfew! Why are 2022 the lowest of all time: Beautiful spring day, other things to do Two smallish teams with one from interstate Neutral fans didn't care People have gone off football during the covid years Hopefully, they don't use the unusual circumstances of 2020 and 2021 to change the time slot.

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
One would think all the player managers should be able to corroborate the practical experiences of their charges regarding change of SIM cards and change of abode as they need to keep in touch. One would hope they dug a bit deeper with the player as to why? Not to mention clubs need to let ASADA know where players are at all times and how to contact them. GWS were fined and Whitfield got a 6 month ban for not doing so and he was at the home of a GWS manager. ASADA would also have records. Even if some are borrowing Essendon's shredder or wiping computers.there should be a bit of documentation around to back up some of the claims.

2022 GRAND FINAL
I know a few people who got a ticket in the ballot, knew that they wouldn't be allowed into the ballot next year if they didn't go yesterday so they went to the G, walked through the gate and went home.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
That was me Also mentioned that Sydney, like Geelong have gone from defensive and control football to faster ball movement like us and we have become more like them.

2022 GRAND FINAL
This GF is a real struggle because it brings back the pain of not experiencing this live last year. Its fantastic that we won last year but it hurts to have been denied that joy and seeing what the GF fans have this week makes me jealous.

2022 GRAND FINAL
If Geelong win, I will stop watching on the final siren (or earlier if they have it sewn up). My fervent hope other than a Syd win is that Dangerfield does NOT win the NSM.

What's next for Adem Yze?
Yze was the hot favourite for GWS then pipped at the post by Kingsley. Ess are waiting for Caracella to get back from overseas and for the GF to be over when Brad Scott will make his intentions known and it looks likely he will put his hat in the ring. Yze is not over the line yet!
