  1. No mention of Meek as the other 'wantaway'?
  2. Absolutely right. With < 2 minutes left and we had just goaled, within reach of a win no way he would want a stoppage. Ditto no way he would want to run down the clock and hold up play. The ump was a bit whistle happy there with the 50m.
  3. The blue print for how we might play next year is the recent Gabba game vs the Lions which was similar to how we played last year's GF: win clearances, switch play from defence, quick overlap ball movement down the wings, deep and centered entries into fwd 50. Some of that was found out this year as teams targeted our defensive system and we went into our shells reverting to some bad habits. In a nutshell we have lost the balance between defence and the attack, we had when we played 'chaos' football a few years ago. We don't need to change a lot to find our best system and form again.
  4. If I heard correctly, last night John Ralph said we have offered Hunt a contract.❤️
  5. Thought I would do a 'What they are saying at Cockburn' piece for Jackson. From Bigfooty after Friday night's game The Doubters: **** I hope we win so we can delay the inevitable by a week. Oh dear. I was on the yay-train. Now I’m on the WTF-train. Lotta draft capital and lotta coin going out the door. Hope he’s worth it when he’s no longer 20 years old. Why does he have to double grab everything If we want someone to drop marks, lay tackles and almost get a clearance we've already got Logue for that. Yeah, there is some scary bust potential here… Please renege Please I beg you!!!!Fremantle don't do this I!!! The guy is not Pick 20 and 400k on present form. Need to keep much of the depth as possible. Not Lobb, Logue, Acres, Meek leaving and have what? Jackson and a few second rounders in? We go back to the start and have to regenerate. People aren't overreacting over one game, they're reacting over a very, very ordinary season with two pathetic finals performances It’ll be a ****ty look if 3 or 4 players go and Jackson comes in with a fat contract. He’s a basketball player trying to work out how to play AFL ffs He looked to have injured his PCL before the Port game. Usually it's a 12 to 16 week injury. Kept playing. Jackson is now worth a first and some change…can’t see West Coast splitting 2, especially given the Rioli trade will net them a second...just let it play out take it or leave it Some support: I just don’t understand that people are ok paying more than 500k to Logue who has reached his peak, but Jackson who has an massive upside is worth less than that? … He'll be coming to Freo and we'll wait until we receive actual figures and the deal before jumping at shadows, but I'm very much still in the grab this opportunity basket. People comparing meek to Jackson in terms of output can’t be serious, when meek was a 20 year old he was running round at Peel reserves and looked positively useless. I’m firmly in the bring jackson in camp. He will definitely improve dramatically as he gets to age 24, 25. Very few talls his age are the finished product. Actually none. Max Gawn didn’t play AFL till he was 23! I could see flashes of Jackson’s agility and ground level ball winning ability last night and it was very good. I think he will easily become an $800k player in time. We have to remember however that he was a Nab rising star winner last year and is a KPP. I think we would have come in with maybe $750k over 5 years. Here’s a question: Luke jackson for 7 years at $750k Tim Taranto for 7 years at $750k The fact that Jackson is already out on the paddock in a contenders side at his age is enough evidence alone that we’re dealing with a very special talent. Turns 21 later this month and has more development left in him than Serong (given his tougher position). You don’t look such gift horses in the mouth. My Favourites: Doesn’t matter what we think. Clearly you were born to inhabit chat sites. What I've really enjoyed this year is the almost complete lack of whipping boys. Sure, a few blokes have copped it here or there but in general, we don't have any spuds regularly getting games…Then we drop wages on Jackson that presumably make him our 2nd/3rd highest player and you can just see him slotting straight into that role. Can you become a whipping boy before you even put the jumper on? On the Freo board you can Geez, if we’re eating him and spitting him out now, can you imagine what the West will do to him if he unde rperforms?
  6. Don't worry what others think, Lazyie. I thought it was funny🙃
  7. sorry, can't do cryptic questions this morning... ...and that ONE sensible answer is...?
  8. Wrong thread. Again!!
  9. Agreed we do get back into the first round but in the last few years our picks have been in the high teens which blow out furthre depending on F/S and Academy players so we miss out on the cream. Not that I think draft picks are the be all end all. Just that the odds of a very good player are much better higher up. Just not sure that high first round picks are the best value for giving up future picks.
  10. I raise this as it seems to me we need to add some pointy end talent with good skills and footy IQ and fill list gaps. It may take a few drafts as Sydney now holds our 2022 first pick #14. Drafting reports are starting to say that clubs will trade out their 2022 picks for 2023 as it has more top end talent. The Jackson trade may help if we get and keep some good draft picks. I would like to see us keep our 2023 first pick unless we get a deal we can't refuse.
  11. We trade out our future first round pick during the player trade period. It has generally served us well. But is it so wise to trade that early now with draft night trading? According to reports, in recent years we have tried to trade up on draft night for Zac Butters, Max Holmes and maybe others. Because our 1st future pick was gone earlier, in the player trade period we couldn't add any future picks to our draft night offer to climb the order to get them. While we have mastered trading picks and moving up the order generally I'm not sure we have kept an eye on having flexibility draft night. So two questions: Should we continue to trade out our future 1st? Should we keep it and our powder dry for draft night?
  12. On the bright side: We deny Geelong the bragging rights of a return PF mauling. On the not so bright side: Sydney hold our 1st round pick #14 which just makes them better.
  13. He was responsible for their goal with 10 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter. It gave them a ray of hope that if they came out all guns blazing in the 3rd and quickly goaled, which they did, they were back in it. Without that goal we were 28 pts at the main break. Within a few minutes of the 3rd starting we were just 8 pts up. Without that on the siren goal they didn't have that little confidence boost. It would have been more of the 'here we go again' feeling. Why do I say Viney was responsible. Max tapped the ball into the dirt for Viney to pick up or at worst kill it before the siren. Viney stood a few meters off Zorko at the CB. He hesitated when Max tapped the ball down. Zorko ran onto the ball didn't break stride and there was their confidence boosting goal. It made Zorko feel 10' tall. Not the reason for the loss but a very significant moment to lose. Last week coaches talked about winning the significant moments is so important in finals. That was a very significant moment in the context of the game. Viney had to kill that ball!
  14. Couldn't they wait an hour until the crowds have cleared from Richmond!
  15. Fremantle looms as an active player in the trade period, with Luke Jackson firmly in their sights, but salary cap pressure has led to several players receiving below market value deals to remain next season and beyond. “Once Fremantle has played their last game, Rory Lobb, Blake Acres, Griffin Logue and Lloyd Meek are all expected to ask for trades,” he said. “It’s tight-lipped at the moment because the understanding amongst those players and their agents and Fremantle is, ‘let’s just shut up about it and try and win a semi final, win a prelim, get into a Grand Final and see what can happen then’." Logue, Lobb and Meek departing will deplete the talls on their list. Jackson may be an in to offset but still a fair dent in one year.
  16. Me. Very confident.
  17. Accept not knowing what he looks like is on me but it was a genuine question without any ill intent and thanks for answering.
  18. Personally? Not at all. I'm very comfortable with my attendance and barracking levels. I just think we are better on DL than belittling our own (fans/members). To me it is no different than posters belittling players who wear our beloved rad and blue.
  19. It should help us. They have a relatively inexperienced ruckman (Fort) with McStay as a backup. McStay will spend less time as a forward and with Daniher out it further weakens their fwd line. It leaves only Hipwood as a recognised tall forward. Without Oscar Mc they really don't have someone to back up behind the ball as Adams is still out. I wouldn't be surprised if they play to a short forward line and hope to catch out our tall defenders who are said to 'panic when the ball hits the ground'. A risk for LIons to make such changes to their game plan but they have nothing to lose. And it might just work. Such a change would possible surprise us but fortunately, we know early enough to make adjustments to match ups and defensive positioning.
  20. Lions have gone from imv being 'too tall' in the round 23 game to not tall enough this time, without Oscar Mc and Daniher. Certainly makes for a different game to the last few between the two teams..
  21. 🤔 King Charles 111 and the Queen Consort Camilia seem to get on just fine...
  22. Accompanied by @Sir Why You LittleI presume! What about @Lord Nev-🤔 On second thoughts, maybe he would need to catch a different flight to the aforementioned Knight!
  23. iirc Burgess sat on the bench with Goodwin. Can't say that I would recognise Griffith but curious if he sits on the bench? Not making any implications, just curious if our game day off-field structure has changed.
  24. That could describe our second half of 2022!!
