  1. Updated to reflect Pedersen signing a one year contract Also, updated draft picks to reflect impact of Brisbane's pp. Thought it might be interesting to include the number of games each player has played...its a lot easier than searching thru the player list on the club website to get age and # of games!
  2. Sadly, it looks like there is not much interest in Jack Grimes at this stage. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-06/shattered-grimes-not-giving-up-afl-career-yet Its interesting that Jack made these comments: "I know that if I get the opportunity, I am the sort of person who will have a 100 per cent crack and put absolutely everything into it." and "I still do feel, moving forward, that I have a bit to offer. I feel confident in my own game and ability and know I have a lot of improvement left in me." I'm not sure he realises that effort isn't enough; skills count, playing the team game counts and most clubs will put their development resources into a youngster rather than improving a 27 yo. Hope his manager gives him another narrative and promotes him properly to other clubs. Despite being fairly shattered there is no hint of criticism of the club. Integrity plus, Jack.
  3. LOL! I felt a bit the same when I was overseas for a time early this year on how to keep the 'Membership' thread updated! If you like I can update this thread for the next few weeks till the end of trade period and then see how your time is. I've always thought of it as 'rfpc's thread so it is yours whenever you want it back.
  4. @rpfc Now that you are back, would you like to regain the updating of this thread. If you are still too busy, I'm happy to continue until you are have time. Cheers, LH
  5. Couldn't bump the 'Where is rpfc' thread as it was derailed and closed. 'rpfc' posted on the Jesse thread last night. If you read this: Welcome Back to the Nuthouse, rpfc!
  6. Harriet Cordner has joined the Dees Women's team as a 'B' Rookie http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-10-05/cordner-continues-tradition She will be the 8th Cordner to play for Melbourne. Her grandfather Don Cordner won a Brownlow and Captained the club. Two Cordners are in our Team of the Century. While I'm sneaking in Women's league news, Daisy won the Woman of the Year award, a sort of Brownlow : http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-09-29/pearce-named-football-woman-of-the-year Oh and some new assistant coaches were appointed. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-10-04/assistants-named-for-womens-team Apologies for gate crashing the main Forum but not many people venture over to the Women's League Forum and I thought these stories were to good to miss especially the Harriet Cordner one. May she have as distinguished a footy career as her ancestors!
  7. We could get him for zip as a DFA. We may give up a very late pick so he is on our list to train a month or so 'earlier' as Hawks did last year with Fitzy. While Hannath hasn't done well at Freo, I don't put a lot of score of Lyons faith nor development of players. So If mfc didn't have other options I'm with you and think he would be good for us.
  8. Confess to being a Demonland 'tragic', so thanks to all posters for getting me thru some bad seasons. In addition to the moderators and the people already mentioned I would like to add 'AngryAtCasey' to the list to specifically thank. Each week he goes to a lot of trouble to write up how each senior player has performed. His descriptions are insightful and balanced, without hyperbole or favouritism. Really appreciate your work 'Angry'. ps @AngryAtCasey ...where does the 'Angry' come from - you never sound angry to me?
  9. There is a video on the HS website which I can't get to as not a subscriber. But the caption says: " RE-SIGNED Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan has sacrificed at least $1 million to stay loyal to the Demons under a deal that secures him to the club until 2019." Whatever the figure is is not important But it does support his press conference comments that his decision was not about money. Also, In his press conference he said ...if there was a time to go back to WA it was now...so his future is in Melbourne (paraphrasing). That should dispel any lingering doubts about him chasing the $$ and his commitment to the Dees. Now we can enjoy watching him tear up the G for the next 3 years!
  10. Oops! Cannot find mfc announcement, so my bad. Got ahead of things a bit. Will fix above post. By the way, Mahoney said today the club will be looking to sign up Salem and Weideman early next year He also said Pedersen will be offered a 1 year contract soon, Dunn is looking elsewhere and Dawes' future depends on trades we make. Edit: Post 59 fixed.
  11. 1) Here is Jesse's press conference in Perth today: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2016-10-04/media-conference-jesse-hogan Don't think there are any doubts about wanting to be in Melbourne the city and Melbourne the club! 2) And here is a gif from the club website announcing his contract extension via twitter this morning:
  12. Just listened to this morning's trade radio interview with Mahoney and he said that all the young players we wanted to sign up have been. We will be looking to sign up Salem and Weidemen early in the new year. So that would really lock up our young talent for a few years!
  13. Is it possible he is part of the Hibberd player/pick trade that Mahoney talked about this morning? Can't believe I'm about to say this: Trading Garland would free up a list spot to upgrade Wagner or Smith. Garland is someone whose loyalty has been over and above the call of duty. Up there with Trengove, N. Jones, Watts and Grimes when it comes to loyalty. Would be so sad if he was to go out 'free to a good home'.
  14. With great pleasure, fndee! Agree with your priorities. Wagner or Smith might get an upgrade soon. Getting Jesse's signature is as good as landing the much talked about BIG FISH!!
  15. Mahoney on SEN this morning (paraphrasing): Focus in recent years to go to the draft, especially midfielders. Now have a sound midfield Focus is defence - Melksham and Hibberd will be good experience. We are also looking to get a ruck/forward Dunn indicated frustrated at not getting a senior game and will look at opportunities. So will trade if he finds another club. Dawes' future depends on results of trade week. We won't be as active in the trade period this year. Re Hibbered: might be our pick 26 but it could involve other picks/players The Hibberd trade looks a bit cryptic - wonder what that deal might look like. The interview clarifies a few things being thrown around in the media and speculation sites. Good to hear it from the 'horse's mouth', so to speak.
  16. Mahoney on SEN this morning, (paraphrasing): Club confident Jesse would want to stay, despite recent speculation No ultimatum ever put to Jesse Think Hogan and Weideman can be a lynch pin for us for years to come Hogan, in his exit interview, was very disappointed with his last 5 weeks and keen to have a big 2017 Good to see all the rubbish written about an 'ultimatum' put to bed!
  17. Jesse will have a press conference in Perth @ 4.30 EST. Looking forward to hearing him declare himself a Demon! Now, the club can really get its list management strategy going. Just a couple more key players to lock down. Go Dees!!
  18. Not unless they change the FA period to 6 years before then.
  19. Its official: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-10-04/hogan-locked-in-until-end-of-2019 Opened a new thread as this is full of so much rubbish! thanks Jesse
  20. HOGAN LOCKED IN UNTIL END OF 2019 Delighted he has signed on. Will take a lot of pressure off him and I'm sure we will see him fulfill his potential to be a champ, in the red and the blue! Thanks Jesse! Jesse's comments: “What excites me about Melbourne is the young talent we’ve got. We feel like we are building something special and that’s something I want to be a part of...“Goody (Simon Goodwin) has been great; we’ve got a really close relationship and I think he is going to be great for me personally next year and the rest of the boys as well". Thanks Goody!
  21. Not really, an earlier poster mentioned you hadn't started a thread before. Sons of the West...very good title change, after all it was the players who failed their fans.
  22. True. He actually got BOG from the coaches voting in the 'Gary Ayers Medal' for the GF game.
  23. You can change the title: click on 'Edit' in your opening post and change the title line. I agree there is no reason to have Beveridge's name in the title, 'Bulldog's 'Heroes' - weak effort' might do the trick!. Or whatever your mischievous mind comes up with Good thread bbo, to call them out after all the faux humility of the last week.
  24. Collingwood are no longer interested in him. Western Bulldog Lin Jong weighing up offer from Gold Coast Suns as Collingwood withdraws Beveridge has shown he can make the tough gutsy calls: suspended Boyd and Cordy, dropped Stringer. We will never know if Lin Jong showing his intentions cost him his spot in the GF. But if the decision was 50/50, even 60/40 in his favour, between him and a player who was loyal and committed to and trusted by his mates and the team (which is what they thrive on) that Beveridge would back the loyal player. I would say Lin Jong has paid a high price for venturing into enemy territory during the year and showing his hand early. Moral of the story: don't trust Collingwood.
