I reread the question and didn't interpret it as negatively asking about or detracting from very good supporter attendances. I saw no hidden meaning. Interpretations vary so maybe we move on.

Good observation as we do have a skewed age profile. That and our long term contracts, there is a risk that in 4/5 years we are the Geelong equivalent of 'Dad's Army' in recent years. But I am confident that JT, TL et al will keep refreshing out list as and when needed to ensure the age profile doesn't impact our performance

I don't see where there was any intention to start an argument. He made a reasonable observation for comparisons to other clubs (especially the 'Big 4'). We play a lot of Home games vs i/state teams or smaller Vic clubs at which we would have a higher % of supporters. Whereas the 'Big 4' have a lot of 'double up' games against each other. Their % of supporters would be lower albeit with much larger crowds. Without the actual figures, it is fair to say we would have an excellent Home game ratio of dees supporters vs the opps. At this year's ANZAC Eve we outnumbered the Tiger fans and were close to 50/50 for the KB game. Everyone would agree and be delighted at mfc being a bigger club each season.

In the recent interview, Max referred to 'Melksham's return' so a good chance he gets a new contract. 🙂. He could be back at next year's mid season bye, in about 10 months.

This is why the AFL should bring back the 'draft picks cannot exceed list spots' rule. Or eliminate draft points for pics >ND40 instead of stretching them out to ND69 as it would force clubs to use 1st or 2nd round picks. While I'm on a roll, eliminate the 20% discount!! It is a joke that they can draft 3-4 elite/A level players with such rubbish picks and they will have more after trading out ND4. Something like 15-20 players will be taken as Academy, NGA or F/S in this draft (mostly in the top 3-25 range). It has been reported that the draft thins out after the top 20 and no more than 50 players will be drafted this year which leaves about 30 to 35 available players. All that makes for a compelling case to for clubs to cash in their chips and get as high up the order as possible. We only need to use 3 draft picks: a late one to promote Turner, a mid to late one to draft Brown. So I can see us taking just one or two picks to the draft. Picks 4 and 5 will do very nicely!! Or convert them to ND1 or ND2 if those are gettable.

I and it seemed others received the Sunday email which would also have been a mass mail out. Whatever the cause I hope the club/AFL sort it out before the next Final.

Wouldn't the club do the right thing by Melksham and give him another year to support him thru his ACL recovery, even if we put him on the Inactive list? Edit: Similarly for Dunstan. Seems a bit rough to just cut them loose.

Your barcodes will remain the same for the length of the Finals series and Grand Final. We will look into this further ahead of our next onsale. Appreciate you raising this issue. Regards

Yes, I use bigpond. So, their system has take a sudden dislike to bigpond!!!! Assuming it is an AFL wide system I wonder how many Pies fans were caught out...not that I have any sympathy for them...the fewer there the better😀

I won't go thru the various points above, but just mention that not everyone will see the same points as issues nor give them the same importance. While 'acting in the role' for a few months her authority starts now. Lots has 'been busted' for many a year. Give her time, 'Brownie'. A good sign is that virtually every club supported her appointment. She has a very good and relevant experience and track record. I truly do not think she is a 'token' appointment even if the article might be interpreted as a fluff piece.

Anyone else not receive the email with the barcode? Instead I received an sms at 9.56am yesterday; just 4 minutes before ticket sales opened. That isn't good enough for any member let alone a 20+ year Redleg member. It was ok as I knew where to find the barcode in my mfc account but I feel for anyone who was caught out. I doubt it is human error as I received the email advice on Sunday saying to look out for the barcode email on Monday. (BTW, I checked 'junk' mail just in case it went there). There was a system glitch somewhere!! I've emailed the club as it would be awful for others to miss out on tickets because they didn't have/didn't know where to look for the barcode or received it at 9.56 am!!

It is very advisable to be cautious re sharing barcodes. I have done this many times and the appreciation has been overwhelming. None moreso than that of @Pennant St Dee (which is apparent on page 4 of this thread). My suggestion is to share with someone who is a long time member of DL and a regular poster. Better still with someone who already has barcodes and looking for an extra. All these show they are a true fan (and most likely a member), whose heart bleeds ❤️and 💙. No point letting spare barcodes go unused. The more fans we get to the game the better!!

As the lead ruckman Max can read the play and In an instant re-position himself anywhere on the field. No second thoughts required. No instructions to give anyone. He just goes. He can't do that when Grundy plays as he is 'stuck' in the fwd 50. He wouldn't assert his authority over a rightly, highly respected Grundy and charge up the field to where he thinks he is needed. Nor would he abandon the role he has in the F50 at that moment. On a practical level Grundy can't mark which neutralises our strategy coming out of the D50 and it limits his contribution in the F50. imv Grundy doesn't play, injuries aside.

Yes, however it meant any supposed priority access went out the window when non-members could get tickets ahead of any member let alone premium members.
