  1. What is he 23 or 24 & now having his 3rd knee surgery. Not looking good
  2. Hemingway you really are pontificating about this without a shred of evidence for Jeff's particular circumstances. Its like an inverse form of apartheid. Guess what - Indigenous people can be stupid, greedy, spit the dummy and and make poor decisions just like non Indigenous people can. Lots of people come from difficult circumstances when they are growing up - Col Sylvia, David Schwarz & Col Garland for example. You don't do anybody any favours by pulling out the racial excuse whenever an Indigenous player has a problem or a loss of form. Its pretty obvious from what I saw - he got dropped, spat the dummy and stopped trying - EXACTLY LIKE HE DID AT CARLTON. He's not the first & he won't be the last footballer to do it. .
  3. Its all between the ears for Jeff. People need to remember he did exactly the same thing at Carlton. When he gets the chitz he does so in a big way. He had the luxury this year of being contracted on good $$ for next year. When a player of his calibre is getting 5 or 6 touches at Casey he is clearly not trying and good on the coaches for sticking to their guns..
  4. Don't think you can qualify as a steal until you have played at least 100 games so the jury is still out on ANB, VDB and Hunt. Darren Jolly & Stef Martin were very low picks unfortunately we were not smart enough to realise their potential ditto Nathan Basset. Jeremy Howe another one. ,
  5. Nice touch but I take issue with your comment that "that the club was regularly accused of tanking its matches" that's just not right. I thought it was one game only.
  6. Very lucky not to be delisted. Lots of G&D but one dimensional 27 years old & has played 1 game & can only play midfield.
  7. Strong core group ??? Sorry you are delusional. You can maybe claim to have a strong core group when you have a few flags like Geelong or Hawthorn or perhaps make the finals for 10 years consecutively like the Swans. We have a bunch of kids learning the ropes who have just played in their first ever finals series & are trying to develop into a strong core group. The last thing they need is a Mitch Clark, Fevola, Harry Lumumba or Harley Bennell. I know know the urge to fix up the "flawed genius" can be irresistible but it usually ends in tears. Leave it alone - in fact run as fast as you can from the temptation.
  8. Mate you seem obsessed or maybe seduced by flashy players who have a history of "problems". These players should be avoided like the plague - keep them away from our club - we have just become competitive after a decade of being a laughing stock. Ross Lyon has form on this - he got rid of Luke Ball and traded in Andrew Lovett - that worked well didn't it ? Then he tried Col Silvia and then Bennell - all major fails. Don't be sucked in by talent - if a player lacks integrity or is a serial prat keep well away.
  9. Very lucky boy compared to Bugg & Pedersen. Was disappointing when given senior games. Is ok when he gets the ball with time & space but is very poor in traffic & fails to take half chances. In the VFL Grand Final was brilliant in the first quarter then completely disappeared as Box Hill slowly got on top so I reckon he is extremely lucky to get another deal.
  10. Still not convinced about Oscar. Can't be relied on against a quality forward unless he has help. Had a dreadful patch in the mid year when he got towelled up by Cox, Schache, McCartin & Hawkins.
  11. Can't believe they let Pedersen go & kept this bloke. Pedo is way better.
  12. Love his endeavour & tenacity. Really a mid fielder masquerading as a forward. I doubt that he has the leg speed or skills to be a long term forward option so he needs to cent a spot as an onballer. Reminds me of Stephen Newport or Simon Godfrey.
  13. Treated poorly by the Brains Trust. The Lynden Dunn of 2018. Dropped early on then unlike JKH, Garlett & others never given a second opportunity. Could have been tried as a tagger, defender or wing. Unlucky for mine & a better player than some still at the Club.
  14. This is the silliest thread of the silly season so far.
  15. A totally beige player. Usually reasonable performer but really needs to step up if he wants to have a career at Melbourne. Would help he he added some aggression to his game.
  16. Wasn't the hit on Mills it was the fact that his disposal by foot could be terrible at times - it just was not up to AFL standard.
  17. He's getting plenty of credit in the media. I think he has done some great things & other things very poorly. Development of ANB & Harmes has been brilliant. Failure to promote Frost for so long was very poor. Failure to match up 6+6+6 ie allowing opposition to play a loose man in defence cost us games. Coaching against St Kilda was woeful & cost us the match.
  18. I thought Spargo had a very poor game - clearly overawed. I would have Garlett in the side in a heartbeat - he creates panic in the opposition because he is quick & mercurial however Goodwin loves Spargo so probably no change.
  19. Worst ever I agree. Sheehan didn't do his homework or didn't ask the right questions. What effect did the captaincy have on the career of Grimes & Trengove Why was Stef Martin let go. Why were Moloney & Rivers traded ? Why was Jones ignored for the captaincy. Time for Mike to retire.
  20. Jeez I've seen 3 Casey games on TV and in those games King & Filipovic did SFA - barely won a tap, can't remember them taking a mark & were well beaten. I've seen nothing to suggest either is up to it.
  21. We all support the Club. One of the problems at Melbourne over the years is members blindly supporting coaches & administrations that didn't have a clue about what they were doing. And to suggest Dunn should be delisted because he made a mistake & kicked a "barrell" is not very rational. He seems to have no trouble following Buckley's instructions.
  22. Have another look at the replay - great fist half but his second half was woeful, slipped, fell over, missed tackles, overan the ball & was generally a liability.
  23. The Dunn decision should remind wide eyed supporters that coaches and Clubs often make wrong and stupid decisions. Why on earth he was dropped in 2016 to make way for Oscar McD remains one of the great mysteries along with: Darren Jolly being dropped for the finals Richmond trading out Graham Teasdale & St Kilda trading Ian Stewart Barassi wanting to drop Malcolm Blight after the drawn Grand Final Melbourne declining to sign Doug Wade after he did pre season training with us.
