  1. That is complete bull$ittt. That would be the same Goody who was part of the team that decided Dunn wasn't up to AFL & consistently played Oscar McD when he was barely VFL level let alone AFL standard. Frost makes errors but he will learn & he has all the attributes to make it at AFL level but has been starved of opportunity.
  2. We won't know if Pert's any good until after he's been in the job a while: I thought Ray Ellis was going to be good I thought Schwab was going to be good I thought MacNamee was going to be good I thought Harris was going to be good Etc Etc Etc
  3. It stopped being "our great game" when it changed from being 18 on 18 to 22 on 22 - effectively 8 more players in the game. Add additional levels of fitness so they can run all day & it the game has become a continual, congested rugby scrum.
  4. I used to think we had been dudded & Leroy & Lewis were easily the 2 best Jettas but Nev has proved me wrong & gone past both of them. His peripheral vision and ability to deliver the ball cleanly & to advantage are second to none.
  5. Its a ruthless game & there is no room for sentimentality if you want to be successful. I love the bloke but reckon he is struggling & lucky to be in the 22. Should be delisted at years end.
  6. Seems to totally lack any aggression or physical edge to his game. Reminds me very much of Col Garland. ATM he is a back up player & not in my best 22 but still handy to have. Would love to see him develop a bit of "mongrel'.
  7. Nothing bizarre about it. The last 3 times we played them we have had their measure but only managed to win 1 of those mainly due to lack of composure & experience. We have improved from 2017 more than they have.
  8. My word I blame the Club. Nothing hindsight about it. Thought it was dumb then & still think it was dumb. Why on earth risk a champion player. We know how difficult foot injuries can be.
  9. Typical Melbourne supporters getting in a tiz over the media. Every season at least one team that is hyped up falls in a hole & fails to deliver. We could have made the finals the last 2 years & fell over when things got a bit hard for the precious possums. Regardless of injuries our losses to North & Collingwood were pretty gutless & we didn't deserve to play finals.
  10. AFL Pre-Season Draft held at the end of Season 2009 2009 AFL Pre-Season Draft Summary Round Pick Drafted By Player Current Team Games Since Drafted 1 1 Melbourne Joel Macdonald 44 1 2 Richmond Dylan Grimes Richmond 104 1 3 Fremantle Adam McPhee 56 1 4 Sydney Daniel Bradshaw 9 1 5 West Coast Ryan Neates 1 1 6 Port Adelaide Scott Harding 2 1 7 Essendon Kyle Hardingham
  11. Mate I don't think you have a clue. Grimes is 26 with over 100 games up. Played 25 games this year. Flag winner & 5th in the Tigers B&F in a Premiership year. Plays on talls or shorts & is the first picked in their defence after Rance. Tough, smart & determined - coaches love him & supporters love him.
  12. And here's me thinking that the whole point of football was to win premierships. Obviously the Richmond coaches think Grimes skill are adequate for the job but you obviously know better.
  13. Might have been reliable & dedicated but still a poor selection by the Club IMHO. He was courageous but not overly quick & had very average skills. Basically a Casey level player useful as a backup. To add further insult we picked him in the 09 pre season draft ahead of Dylan Grimes.
  14. Was poorly treated by the selectors. They seemed to have ruled a line through him early on just like Dunn in 2016. He has his faults but was overlooked again & again despite good form at Casey.
  15. Lacks any physicality to his game - also sometimes lacks awareness & gets run down from behind - a top up player only.
  16. How on earth would playing at Melbourne get him an extra 6 possessions a game ?? We already have an oversupply of middle of the road midfielders. What we need is quick, goalkicking forwards, small defenders, KPP and back up ruckmen.
  17. If he wants to stay on our list he must improve his kicking. Even 30m out on a 45 deg angle he cannot be relied on.
  18. Had a good look at him this year both in the seniors & at Casey & can't see him making the grade. Had opportunities in the VFL finals but looked very ordinary.
  19. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to ask Brendan MaCartney a question - I asked why we were overusing handball as it was getting us into trouble. He didn't give me a particularly clear answer. I pointed out a game where Watts, Oliver & I forget who had something like 50 handballs & 20 kicks between them & pointed out this wouldn't win us many games. Again I didn't get a clear answer. All my mates have been exasperated by the same thing and at most games fans are screaming to Melbourne players to kick the friggin ball. Against Collingwood there were at least 6 centre bounces where we won the ball & then handballed it around until we turned it over. Now I notice Malthouse's comments about us "a game style that changed dramatically from running the ball to overusing it, too often during games. It seems the penny has dropped for everyone except the coaching staff & the players.
  20. With Trade Week right around the corner, the one name that keeps getting brought up is Dom Tyson. So what do you think? Keep or Trade him? I have been arguing about Dom with several mates for a few years. They reckon he is a gun. I reckon he is a plodder. He starts on the ball & should be compared to other starting mid fielders like Treloar, Shuey, Hannaberry, Marc Murphy or Zorko. I reckon he is slow, doesn't take many marks, not a high goalkicker & only has average disposal skills, just does not often impact the game or hurt the opposition. Clearly the coaches seem to love him - what do other Demonlanders reckon ?
  21. Reliable ????? You must be kidding. I think Jake has had maybe 1 season in 8 which has been injury free
  22. 6 Jones 5 Pedersen 4 Hibberd 3 Hogan 2 Petracca 1 Melksham
  23. Is how boring and predictable the game is becoming. Its becoming like a bad game of rugby union. Its mostly congested and horrible. The second half of the game against Port was boooring in the extreme. I used to watch 3 or 4 games on the weekend now I can't be bothered unless the Dees are on TV. I predict crowds will drop and less people will attend games. Then sponsors will offer less $$ and when this happens the AFL will look at the rules to minimise congestion. My teenage boys who were brought up on AFl now prefer to watch the Rugby League.
